Which do you think is better? (Trying to decide which equipment makes better sense)

most will tell you the first. I am of the mind of the second unless you are a VERY heavy run team. Reason I say that is that with more blocking, the harder it is for the opponent to break your block.
So - if a total meathead with 120 strength and 80 blocking. Yes, you will get more pancakes (only on rushing plays) but those agile DT's and NTs may be able to get around you more often on pass plays - or even break your run blocks more often.

So is it better to keep your man occupied longer on plays, or better to take a guy out of the play totally only on run plays (and only with big strength differences - harder against the NT)?

I would go with the first.

86blk is usually enough to still block some of the better DTs from my (limited) experience. Plus, you usually have help from the Gs blocking those guys.

But 120str is pretty useful. I think most strength-based NTs shoot for around 100str, so a 20 point advantage will help you push those guys when your team runs the ball.

Anyone with some high level O-Line guys care to chime in?

86 block is plenty. Go with the first option; your fullbacks and powerbacks will thank you.

I'm sporting 120 strength 90 blocking and doing just fine.

My guy's at 120/86 and hasn't had any issues. I've seen great gains from doing 60 -> 70 AGI, though, from getting "almost" beat most passing plays by elite DL to comfortably getting in front of them. I'm not sure Blocking is as important as we've believed it to be.

My 44 center is at 101/101. I made that decision a long, long time ago when he was in the 20s. I'm considering moving one blocking piece to strength to get to 108/94, then moving all my Pass Blocker VAs into Great Blocker to make up for it. I really don't see the Pass Blocker doing too much for me ... especially since I'm already at 68 agility.

I would like to here from some pro-level people in the high 50s and 60s.

You don't need to "make up for" having 94 blocking. Stay away from the Great Blocker VA until you've maximized every other useful VA. It's really completely not needed.

Yeah I agree.. Sure, it is worth like +6 blocking. But if you don't NEED the blocking it isn't worth ANYTHING... think about it =)

I personally do like great blocker though, and using it as an excuse to shift equip to strength is very smart.

In reality, I'm really trying to switch another piece over into strength as well -- it just so happens it's my LG AEQ, and I haven't rolled another one in a really long time. So the Great Blocker is more to get it from 88~ --> 94~, which I do think would be worth it. Over the life of the player, the only other VA I see being really valuable would be Showboat Blocker, and there will be time for that as well.

105 str/100 blk makes no sense, unless you are consistently being beat by NTs - which I doubt...

Centers should have 85+++ raw blocking anyway... don't waste EQ points in blocking, go with high strength and Great Blocker.

I have 125/85 on my center with 12 in pancake and he doesnt get shit for pancakes.

So take that for whatever you want.

I have done both an equipment split and all strength equipment. I like what I see at 100 blocking for my center, but over 100 I have not noticed much of a difference. I kept the split until I got blocking over 100 without using equipment and then switched all equipment back to strength. Up to 100 blocking you see a difference after that, not so much. All this my opinion of course

By the way centers do not just go up agaisnt high strength nose tackles. It is not uncommon for good defensive coordinators to move their high speed agility pass rushing dt over the center on passing plays to take advantage of centers who ignore blocking/agility/speed.

Any legitimate C should have 70+ agility, 60+ speed, and 95 blocking without any equipment at the pro level. This should be plenty... It opens the door for high strength not because it is needed but because you can abuse the defense. If you have a bad build, then sure you need to split your equipment up, but a good build shouldn't need ANY help in spd/blk/agi.
