With all of the teams gutting across all Pro regions, and the best teams making the move to WPL, how do the league rank now in your opinion?

I still think USA may still have more top heavy teams but the rest dont look impressive at all. I have teams in EEPL and WEPL and honestly some of those teams wouldnt do well in Africa AAA.

Has Africa moved up with Somalia, GRiTS, SISW etc being a pretty solid start. Would have been a better argument if SLS had stayed but that seems to be the story for all leagues.

Yes its early to really know but just to get conversation going.

And maybe we can get more teams to participate in a challenge this season, maybe EEPL for payback?

I don't think Africa's moved up. They were 3rd in most-teams-in-PWT last season with 5. That includes LOL, DD, and WWR (and maybe other teams, I didn't exactly do my homework on this). I'd say it's a fair assertion to say that S10 APL was 3rd behind USAPL/CPL. WWR/DD/LOL were also all top 25 GLB teams at one point or another during the season.

It's really hard to gauge how good an AAA team is (compared to Pro teams). Barbary Coast seemed to be a formidable AAA team but came to the Pros and, in their first year, they were only able to beat a CPU team and a 1-15 team (no offense BCP).

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I think Africa definitely took a step back, at least at the top. I obviously can't speculate the depth of the league, but I'd be pretty confident saying the APL lost its punch.

Oh i know the top took a huge hit, losing the flag bearers is tough, but every league took the same hit.

Which is a valid point. The USAPL can weather such a hit (keeping WW, OFG, MM and others), and the CPL is still definitely #2. So that means that, at best, the APL is still #3. I think the hit hurt the APL the most of any league besides maybe the CPL.

I'll definitely be watching to see how the depth works itself out though.

I don't think it is a mystery, between promotions and teams going slow build, APL took a huge hit for this season. I would argue more than any other, which makes it very important for APL teams to weather the storm and get better each season. There are some great teams moving up, but we have seen that before, lets hope they stick around.

I would have ranked South America over Africa in season 10, and probably this season also. Africa could be 4th though.

SAPL/CPL argument for #2 was all over the forums. Early in the season APL was in it as well, but the mentor crap and CPL coming on strong ended that. I think that SAPL is clearly the 2nd best league now and WEPL might be 3rd. CPL falls WAY off this season. On top of losing their big 3 and NDH. They lost Mayan, Yokels, ALB, leaving teams like Yellowknife, Queen City, and Durham Ice Oddysey arrying the torch. Not sure where APL falls right now, but outside of Seychelles, Somalia, and GRiTS, it looks pretty weak overall to me, especially in Elephant.

People keep forgetting about the Angola Spider Monkeez. I think they are a solid Pro team.

I'm just hoping the new Africa teams get out there and bulk up your teams!

A couple of the new teams recruited me also... but I didn't think my younger guys were ready for the pro level yet.

Welcome to the team Steve. I didn't even know you were on the team...of course, I just got back from a trip to Jacksonville, so I don't know much that's going on.
