This thread is inspired by: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=3002331

I'm just curious how many owners support the WPL being added in season 11, and I figure if I am only Polling 32 Africa Pro team owners, perhaps the mods will smile upon me and not lock this.

Simply reply (with or without reasoning):

Yes = I want S11 WPL

or

No = I don't want S11 WPL

BUT USAPRO IS DA BEST LEAGUE

Edit: In fact, starting the WPL now makes the most sense. By the time the "second generation" of players become the elites, the WPL will be balanced out and it truly will be the best teams in GLB. There will always be growing pains to any new important addition such as this.

Soap, I'd hate to add my own opinion/argument in here and attempt to bias this poll, but there are obviously other reasons besides one's love of USAP that they would be against it...

Yes.
Nothing wrong with the World League & it's been needed for a long time now.

Yes

(In the end I believe this will bring balance to most (hopefully all) of the pro leagues.)

All 3 of those reasons are QUITE faulty in the linked thread.

1. By the time the 1st gen players aren't the best in the biz, they'll be getting kicked out by the 2nd gen players
2. WAT? Of course the best players want to go to the best teams. And making the other leagues "weaker by default" is an intended consequence. You want the WORLD league to be the best, and the other leagues are now stepping stones. Just like AAA is for Pro, Pro is for World
3. It'll even out over time. Doesn't matter when you start it. In fact, this will spread equality throughout the regions. Now people will want to go to Pro teams with the best chance to make the WPL and then the best chance to be competitive in the WPL. No more USAPL love just because it's the country that most of the players inhabit.

Edit: The fact is that, as it stands, the best team in GLB is at most a BCS-type championship. Scrimmaging can only tell so much (ToC etc). This way, people actually get to see who the best teams are. If Drygerian and Cincinnati win out this season, people will assume Cincinnati's the best because of scrimmage games. I agree that, as it stands, Cincy is better, but now we'll really get to know... and it'll mean something.

OP updated.

Fwiw, soap, the link was only added to the OP to give owners food for though. I actually am a much bigger fan of my own post halfway down that thread than I am of its OP.

I don't care. It really won't affect me too much.

On the one hand, it will give the weaker pro teams a better chance to win a championship this season, but on the other, I think it would probably be more fair to the entire GLB user base to wait for two seasons, when having all season one players isn't an advantage.

For your points (which are just as shaky imo):

Retirement: It doesn't really matter what league you're in for the roster replacement. The problem is the fact that it takes 8 seasons to become anywhere near decent and you have to retire after 12. Bort really missed the mark on that. I think he should cut xp requirements by half (at least). That's not a WPL issue.

(a) Show that you know how to work with talent and you'll attract better players. Since it's always gonna be in flux, people will gravitate towards the gameplanners.
(b) Holy speculation, Batman!

Prestige: Here's a counterpoint: The USAPL uses its "well the USAPL is the best league" to the maximum when recruiting players (both USAPL teams that were going for me used it). It doesn't matter where you are. Everyone wants to be on the best team. Atm, most people want to be on Drygerian or Cincinnati. The only difference with the WPL is that you'll be able to play all of the prestigious teams w/o having to scrimmage.

Players: Most people don't even count the OPL trophy, and I'm guessing they don't care too much about APL, SAPL, EEPL, WEPL either. The CPL and USAPL trophies are by far the most important trophies atm (and USAPL is way in 1st). 2 teams get those trophies. That's 106 players.

Either way... GOOD. Shit should be hard to get. This isn't T-Ball where everyone wins.

8 leagues into 1: wat....

Most of your complaints with it are "our trophies won't matter as much. it'll be hard to recruit. it'll be harder to be a top team. it'll be too steep a climb for most"

None of these issues are really WPL-related. The WPL just makes these underlying issues more noticeable. Lmk if there's someone who doesn't want to be on the #1 GLB rated team (meaning prefer that to where ever they are now). Lmk if it's easy for sub 8-8 pro teams to recruit top players. Lmk if winning an OPL trophy makes you a top 8 team in the league (in terms of prestige).

The WPL is just a level playing ground where wins and losses will FINALLY do all the talking.
