The dust has settled after the first round of the PW19 Season 10 playoffs, with a few surprises in each bracket.
Lone Star opened the playoffs with a 84-7 trouncing of the Alma Panthers. Alma only mustered 187.5 total yards on the day, posting a measly 2.1 average. Lone Star's victory was punctuated by the 230 yard, 4 TD day by Go Long I'll Hit You. They face off in a definite sloberknocker against the Eugene Cobras. Eugene advanced by way of a 105-7 win over Copenhagen. Lindsay Lohen was held to -8.5 yards and a single TD while Moleculo Stumps went off by recording three consecutive punt returns for touchdowns.
On the south side of the Western bracket, the Little Rock Channel Cats defeated the West Philadelphia Honkers 42-70 in a shootout. The Honkers and Channel Cats traded scores in every quarter except the fourth, where Little Rock pulled it out with an offensive flurry- 21 points were scored in the fourth by the Cats. Im a Slow Runner torched the Honkers' defense with 259.5 yards and five scores. The other game in this conference was the polar opposite. The Appalachian Mountianeers defeated the NOLA Kangaroos in a 13-7 defensive struggle. The Mountianeers did not pass once, instead going for 356.5 yards rushing. NOLA nearly came back in the fourth after driving from their own 41 to put a score on the board. They only needed a touchdown to win, but the Mountianeers ate nearly five minutes off the clock to seal the win. Little Rock and Appalachian play Saturday.
On the Eastern side of the league, the New Orleans Pee Wees easily disposed of the Hollywood Hooligans 122-7. Surprisingly only the fifth-highest scoring output they've had this year, the Pee Wees cruised on the back of Jim "Robert Jefferson" Brown's 200-yard, 4 TD day. They face the Thunder Bay Wolfpack, who upended True Blue 20-27. HBee 1's 192 yards rushing were nearly in vain as True Blue mounted a comeback in the fourth after Super Q's screen pass to ALL- JUICED- UP was taken for six. After Thunder Bay went three and out, True Blue drove from their own 47 down to the Wolfpack's 37 yard line. Super Q then completed a pass to Andy Zazstraxx for 20.5 yards, setting up the potential tying touchdown from the 17. With 14 seconds to go, Q dumped it to ALL- JUICED- UP, who only advanced two yards before being dragged from behind to ensure that Thunder Bay would move on.
Also in competition were the Baltimore Gulls disposing of Tha Black Mambos 105-0 with The "Ponch" totaling 276.5 yards. Baltimore faces the Pee Wii Warmageddons, who beat the Normandy D-Day Invaders 41-14 by virtue of Eat Dust Sucka and White Pat combining for 297.5 yards and five touchdowns.
