8 teams voted this week, Thanks to all who voted!! There seems to be a little confusion about who can vote. Let me reinterate, ANYONE can vote as long as you are a part of a team in APL. That means owners, GMs, Coaches, and players are all eligible. You don't need an invite by me, you just send me a PM with your Top 10 picks in order when the polls are open after every APL game is played that day. Just remember that I only accept 1 vote per team per game. So I'd ask the owners who are too busy to vote, to ask someone on the team to step up and represent your squad in the polls. Also if you are a player on a team you know is not voting, go ahead and send me a poll. I hate acting like an NPR radio promoter during a telethon, but I would really like us to get a broader league representation week in and week out. I really appreciate the 8 - 10 people who vote all the time because without them this whole thing would be dead in the water, but we do have 32 teams, and a 25% voter turnout isn't so great. Ok vote begging segment over.
We had some big games and a mini shakeup in the polls as a result. The Somalia Pirates did indeed show the world that they are for real and that last year's playoff run was not a fluke by any means. They defeated The Stallions again with a very impressive 17 point victory, and were rewarded with a 3 spot jump in the polls. The Pirates look to be a powerhouse to be reckoned with in Elephant, LOL and DD better be paying attention.
DD dispatched The Warlords in pretty dramatic fashion, affirming once again that the step from being an elite AAA team to becoming an elite Pro team is still a formidable one. The days of an AAA champ coming up and rolling the Pro teams are over, now it takes 2 seasons of dedication and hard knocks before most AAA teams are ready to take that next step. As it should be. I have no doubt The Warlords have the chops to make that move someday, just not yet.
Over in Lion, The Warthogs continued their superb run by beating The Spider Monkeez on the road by double digits. That is a pair of victories over two top Lion teams in three weeks for Nairobi. They remain undefeated and now have two very winnable games coming up before their next big game against WWR. Unfortunately for them, more people were watching the Blood Rivalry between SP and SLS. The Pirates jumped over The Warthogs in the rankings despite having 1 more loss, probably because the hatred between those two Elephant teams is currently hotter than the NW vs ASM rivalry. Regardless it looks like Lion could be a 3 horse race between WWR, SISW, and NW. If NW continues to win like they are, they should have no worries about where they end up on the poll.
Speaking of SISW, they were very unkind to their Dar es brothers and knocked them out of the Top Ten with a 21 point butt kickin. Upon further investigation it was discovered that The Sea Wolves' big victory was ignited by the death of Michael Jackson. SISW owner JDawg explains..."Mr. Jackson was supposed to have a concert here this summer, the 1st concert of this magnitude ever seen on Seychelles Island. I am the biggest MJ fan in the world!! Do you think I wear this white glove in the booth with my pet monkey for my health??!! I bought out the entire front row for myself. Now he's gone and I'll never get my Thriller lunch box signed. All we have to look forward to now is a Jonas Brothers show. THE JONAS BROTHERS!!! I hate them!! I want a Jackson or nothing. So until Janet or Tito comes here for a concert we will take out our anger on every team we face. Do you hear me??!! Everyone will feel my pain!!! EVERYONE!!!" This reporter quickly left the interview for fear of his life.

In Game of the Week #1, The #10 Ghana Buffaloes never get a break. They made the Top Ten last time, only to face #2 LOL the following week. They then make it back to the Top Ten and now have to face #3 Doinitin Djibouti. But if Ghana wants to stay in the elite they will have to win one of these games sooner or later. Good luck tomorrow boys.
In Game of the Week #2, your unanimous pick for #1 WWR is facing off against the Ethiopia Devils. I mentioned the Devils in the last report and they indeed got some votes, now it's time for them to strap it on because they are getting tossed in the fire. If they want to take that next step they will have to win this one or keep it close. Otherwise they will just be considered one of the Lion also-rans, good but not good enough to be considered alongside the absolute best in APL.
I'd like to say congrats to the USA in getting the Silver in the FIFA cup. No one gave them a shot and they actually made it a good game against Brazil, as well as being the 1st team to beat Spain in 3 years. Well done boys!!
