A speed DE using a swim move vs. a slow LG and LOT without the vision to see the DE coming.

Thanks. That sounds about right. A little surprised his quickness is THAT much of an issue though but I believe it.

Especially considering the above play, is there a different course I should take than the one below one he boosts in a couple days?

* First cap speed (48)
* Train vision/confidence
* Confidence to second cap (61)

I'm also considering switching out pancake with a shock block piece mentioned in the "Does shock block work?" thread.

Advice appreciated.

confidence is such a ridiculous waste that I have difficulty responding to your post. It's a total luxury attribute. It's the absolute last thing for any position other than offensive skill positions. I'd cap speed, train vis/cnf, and save points until you can cap vision. Pass blocking SAs are 100 times more useful than second capped confidence for a pass blocking guard.

HAHAHA! Yeah, that makes sense. I will change my game plan and forget confidence and maybe just train it up down the road. I probably need to get speed to 2 cap as well. Thanks, you saved my a**.

So if I take the EQ upgrades that were wasting away in confidence (went away with the pancake piece) and put them in speed would that help? Or should I put 'em in agility?

This. A blind guard is a bad guard.

Hmmm. Anyone else want to confirm or deny?

I agree with them. Train it up to at least 25 (ideally 30) though before putting SP in.

Interesting. Wasn't even on my list beyond late training.

You got owned by vision probably, but even worse is the LOT standing next to you is worthless.

Thanks guys. Very helpful. Got pass SA up a little after capping speed. Will focus on those and vision.

yikes. the build is pretty darn good except for the vision. DE's have things like "jump the snap" that let them get off the line just a little bit quicker than the average cat due to a vision boost (up to 45%). for that one "tick," the DE might have anywhere from 50-90 actual vision (it will return to 40 or 60 or whatever it was immediately after).

your guard probably doesn't even move for the first one or two "ticks." combine it with an SA like "shed block" and the short area acceleration he has from 75-100 agility and you'll get owned every time.

everybody else has good pointers: train and cap vision immediately, then get speed up to the second cap. try to get rid of that confidence equipment. and also, never train it or assign skill pts to it until everything else is locked
