WESTERN CONFERENCE
ROUND 1

(1)Moose Jaw vs. (8)Lancaster: The Mac Attack have waited all year for the playoffs to start. They have had high expectations starting the season and have not disappointed their fans. Going 16-0 in the regular season destroying all teams in their way, they have won every game by an average of 139 points per game. With the best scoring offense and scoring defense they are surely the odds on favorite to win it all. Lancaster after a successful season in BBB last year has got to be please with their effort in the most difficult western conference in their first year as single A participants. Lancaster brings in the west’s number 10 ranked passing offense accompanied by the number 1 rushing attack. Unfortunately there are two things that hurt the Hustlers in this match up. The Mac Attack play great defense and score a lot of points. The Hustlers are the west’s worse at both points PPG and PAG out of the playoff participants. While the Hustlers have shown they can be competitive vs. the west’s elite (good showings against Toronto and Kingston to name a few) they are out matched vs. the Mac Attack. Prediction: MJ wins 80-10

(4)Kingston vs. (5)Windsor: A rematch of this years week 13 thriller this should be the game to watch. Windsor took care of business the first time around with the help of 4 turnovers, only to escape with a 22-17 victory. This could have been a home playoff game for Windsor however Kingston got a huge win against Toronto to assure the last and final home playoff game. These two teams are evenly matched in every category. Both teams are fairly balance on offense with solid defenses. This game is probably the toughest to pick for this writer. My gut feeling tells me that Kingston will not throw 4 interceptions again, but will rebound from the week 13 lost and carry the momentum from their week 16 win into this game. Look for this game to be much higher scoring then the previous match up. Prediction: Kingston wins 45-30

(2)Toronto vs. (7) Thunder Bay: There are no doubts when it comes to Toronto’s offense. They can score with the best of them in a variety of ways whether it be threw the air or ground. Last year it was the same way however, but their problem was defensively. They seem to have sured up their defense enough to allow their offense more touches. This should be an interesting test as the Lycans bring their number 3 rushing attack against the number 8th rush defense. But wait Toronto has their number 3 passing offense vs. the west’s number 10th passing defense. All indications say that Toronto will win convincingly, but I think Thunder Bay can give Toronto a run for their money with a ball control offense accompanied by a solid defensive effort. Unfortunately the Lycans will have to get their tee times ready because Toronto will move on to the Second Round. Prediction: Toronto wins 51-28

*(3) Bear Beach vs. (6) Glassjaw: This rematch shall be entertaining. Bear Beach who came away with the victory early in the season should get a good test from a team that didn’t beat anyone in the top 5. Glassjaw will hope that its number 1 Passing offense will take down the west’s number 8th passing defense. This match up should worry the Beach a little because they’re 8th ranked passing offense and 7th ranked rushing offense will be pitted against the 2nd passing defense and 7th rush defense. And even more trouble sum is that they where out gained by Glassjaw 550+ yards to their 350 yards of total offense, but 4 turnovers where given up by the Guerillas. If the Guerillas can take care of the football they could and should win this game. This is going to be my upset pick as much as it pains me. Because who doesn’t love a good Beaver? The difference in this contest will be the turnovers. The Beavers won’t have the luxury of those same 4 turnovers. Prediction: Glassjaw wins 31-24

EASTERN CONFERENCE
ROUND 1

(1)KK vs. (8) Cannes: The number 1 seeded KK will be facing a formidable foe in the CobraS. KK has dominated the East with their only blemish coming at the hands of the STD’s. The CobraS on the other hand have had a very solid season only to lose by a combine score of 17 total points in their first three losses. They very could have easily been the fourth seed if certain games went their way. However while the CobraS have shown they can score in bunches KK can do the same just as easily. The one major difference KK can stop people on defense while the CobraS have a leaky defense that seems to fall asleep at times. If they can fine away to slow KK’s great offense down they might have a shot in pulling off a major upset. Sadly for the CobraS their 9th ranked scoring defense will be no match for the number 2 scoring offense from KK. Prediction: KK wins 100-45

(4)St John’s vs. (5) Sheho: A rematch of week 16’s “Battle for Home field”. St John’s has very quietly gone unnoticed this season. Amazingly starting off 1-2 they have won 7 straight to gain the last home playoff game with a 12-4 record. Sheho on the other hand have had a great season in its own right, but has struggled down the stretch only going 3-3. These two teams are evenly matched with both having the number 2 and 3 ranked passing attacks that the East has to offer. Much like the 4 and 5 match up in the West much should be expected from this match up. Sheho has shown they can play with the Pistons and can pull off the minor upset. The Piston’s on the other hand have to feel good about themselves being able to pass against the East’s number 2 passing defense giving up 2 picks and still coming away with the 30-22 victory in week 16. Prediction: St John’s wins 31-28.

(2) Charlestown vs. (7) West Texas: The Chiefs are on a roll winning 11 straight and they’ll bring the League’s number 1 rushing attack against the 8th ranked rushing defense of the Mad Cows. This writer was worried about facing two teams (no disrespect to others) one being St. John’s the other being West Texas. West Texas has had a great last 7 weeks of the season even though only going 4-3. They’ve shown they can play with the big boys of the east losing to the STD’s 14-20, St. John’s 10-23, and being competitive against KK 24-64. They’ve definitely rectified the AI’s and are heading in a good direction. However they might a tough match up against the Chiefs. The Cows playing great pass defense (#1), but seem to struggle a little against the run. The Chiefs run the ball extremely well, but do not necessarily pass the ball all that well (or at lease you don’t think so ) Look for the Mad Cows to be competitive against the Chiefs, however falling a tad short in the end. Prediction: Chiefs win 35-20

(3) STD vs. (6) Ontario Mustangs: STD’s are just as hot as the Chiefs winning 10 straight and more importantly taking down the East’s best KK. The Mustangs on the other hand have gone 4-3 in the last 7 weeks their only losses coming at the hands of the top three teams out of the east. The Mustangs put up a good fight against the STD’s only to come up short 29-33. STD’s I think are a little worried about this match up as they should be. The mustangs have a sold offense (#4 passing/ #7 rushing) along with a sold defense (#6 in scoring D). However the STD’s bring the number 3 scoring offense along with the number 1 passing attack and number 3 rushing attack. After their previous engagement the Mustangs have to feel good giving up 2 picks only to lose by 4, while in the other camp the STD’s have to feel fortunate to win even with those two turnovers. I think the past will repeat itself in this one as the STD’s secondary is just too good and their offense is just too good for the Mustangs to handle. Prediction: STD’s win 40-21

WESTERN CONFERENCE
Round 2

(1) Moose Jaw vs. (4) Kingston: A rematch of week 12’s embarrassing loss to the Mac Attack, Kingston looks to rebound for a upset and a spot in the West’s conference final. Kingston might have gotten a little complacent with their Offensive AI in week 11 defeating Columbia 86-3. However they might have chalked up the following loss to the Mac Attack as “oh they are better then us” only to lose again to the Flyers in week 13. They probably made some adjustments in the following weeks evident by their week 16 W over the Punishers. The Mac Attack (on a mission from god some would say) looks to once again put down the Rabbits much like they have to everyone else in the West. Kingston while capable of definitely pulling off the surprise W, are just a little over match against the Mac Attack. If Moose Jaw was to lose in this years playoffs this would be the game the do, but its not meant to be for the Killer Rabbits. Prediction: Moose Jaw wins 41-21

(2) Toronto vs. (6) Glassjaw: Awe yes, Toronto vs. Bear Beach…..wait a minute…..it’s Glassjaw. Yes, while many of you wanted to see the Toronto/Beaver rematch I think this one will be even more fun to watch. Both offenses are extremely talented with defenses that just try to stay out of the way of their team’s offense. Expect a high scoring high flying affair with these two teams. Both teams pass the ball for more than 400 yards per game while both allow around 200 yards per game (yes glassjaw I realize you give up less than 200 at around 190 its close enough ). However I am sticking to what I know, Glassjaw is a fairly new team for me, but Toronto is not. Get your golf clubs ready Guerillas, because you’re going golfing. Prediction: Toronto wins 70-60

EASTERN CONFERENCE
Round 2

(1)KK vs. (4) St John’s: St. John’s continued its roll with a solid victory over Sheho, but now a monster in the form of KK is up next. KK dominate the Pistons by a tune of 70-27. Much like Kingston St. John’s must have had a change in Offensive strategy after the week 9 loss since they followed the KK defeat with a similar defeat against STD’s. KK should be worried but not to worried. St. John’s hot streak should and will come to an end this week as the KK’s rushing attack will pound the Piston’s into submission. Prediction: KK wins 45-10

(2) Charlestown vs. (3) STD: The two hottest teams from the East match up. The Chiefs defeated the STD’s 45-21 early in the season. Both teams run the ball extremely well, but STD’s have shown they pass the ball more effective then the Chiefs. Both teams can stop the run as apparent with their number 2 and 4 rush defenses, plus scoring shouldn’t be a problem as the number 1 and 3 scoring offenses clash. The STD’s have shown they can beat the best, but will it be enough to stop the Chiefs two headed rushing attack in El Flasho and the “Oil Trash”? While the STD’s are a formidable foe, along with KK rooting like hell to play the Chiefs instead of STD’s. The Chiefs look to be goners. But as Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast my friend”, The Chiefs rushing attack along with a “STD” vaccine that we have the Chiefs will come away victorious. Prediction: Chiefs win 31-28

WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS

(1) Moose Jaw vs. (2) Toronto: Moose Jaw comes into this game much like they have through out the season….in dominating fashion. Toronto comes into this game much like they have all season dominating everyone except the Mac Attack. Toronto was embarrassed by the Mac Attack by the tune of 91-10 early in the season. While both teams can score there is one major difference between these two teams, and it’s still affecting Toronto. Stopping opponents from scoring. The Mac Attack has the best D that A2 has to offer this year, but IMO the Punishers have the best offense that A2 has to offer. Who will win this match up? Being a DC it’s pretty easy to choose. But with that being said look for Toronto to spice things up a bit. If Toronto can run the ball effectively against a ridiculously good rush defense they will have a chance. Unfortunately nobody runs on MJ. Prediction MJ wins 45-10

(1) KK vs. (2) Charlestown: KK absolutely ass rapped the Chiefs in week 5 by the tune of 75-34. Both offense are mirror images of each other, pass the ball effectively to set up the run. Play sound defense and win some ball games. There is also another side story to this match up. The best HB tandem is on the line, in the Chiefs camp Flasho, and Leonard are the best in the business, while in KK’s camp Rossman and Interior are said to be the best. Should be interesting. So this game is where I am going to get most of the criticism for being bias. I think these two teams are extremely evenly matched but I think the Chiefs squad will show who the best HB tandem is by pulling off the W. Prediction: Chiefs win 24-21

SUPERBOWL

(1) Moose Jaw vs. (2) Charlestown: Moose Jaw is one game away from their destiny. Charlestown is one game away from their second Super Bowl in three seasons. This game looks to be in the favor of Moose Jaw hands down. MJ handed the Chiefs a 108- to something little in the preseason. The Chiefs rushing attack will definitely be tested as the number 1 rush defense comes calling. Look for the Chiefs to pound the rock as much as possible keeping MJ’s offense off the field as much as possible. While this writer is definitely a Homer rooting for this team, he also realizes what’s in store if he faces the Mac Attack. Prediction: MJ wins 38-20

Very nice write up. If Moose Jaw and Toronto meet up again, as the DC for Toronto, I guarantee it will closer than the previous game. Much closer.

Ah the playoffs... this will be a much tougher run than last year, starting off with the first game against the mustangs.
STD's are by no means looking by the Mustangs.

GL to everyone, and great write up (aside from the STD's losing)!

The main differences I see involve STD and KK. These two will face each other. Outcome is too close for comfort, but KK will come out ahead.

Good write up. Mad Cows are hoping to shock the world again this season, but we pulled the absolute worst matchup. Going to be interesting.
