why should the bottom 8 get a chance to go to the playoffs.. they had their chance in the regular season and didnt get in because they couldnt win.. so be it.

Dude...NO WAY. The other teams had a chance and one simple reason they didn't make the playoffs is because they weren't talented enough to win enough games. They didn't deserve it.

i don't like it at all. the NFL has 12 teams make the playoff, 16 is a lot, 20 is bordering on crazy.

32 teams in a league, top 16 go to playoffs, there's a consolation bracket right?

Just because your team can't make it to the playoffs is not enough justification for this suggestion.

This would take too long and they wouldn't deserve a place in the "real" playoffs, but a losers' bracket played at the same time as the top 8 playoffs might be worthwhile.

I agree with the guy who said for a consolation tournament:

why not just have a consolation tournament for the lower 8 teams, the winner gets a consolation prize at their team's profile, but they won't play in the real playoffs?
