Fighting for home field in the playoffs
The race for 4th place is really heating up. Charlotte, Whitby, and Delta have a strong hold on home field to start the playoffs, but with the final four weeks full of big games, the playoff picture is still murky.
1- Charlotte Grumpy Ladybugs __ 11-1-0 -- Charlotte would be the #1 seed in the playoffs if they were held today. Their defense has been outstanding, and their offense has gotten the job done, always making sure they score enough to pull off the close wins.
Charlotte is currently writing a nice worst to first story. Burnaby and Hub City are looking to rewrite the final chapter, though.
2- Whitby Thunder __ 11-1-0 -- Once again, Whitby is 6 points away from being undefeated. They will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs. Their WR Revooh has been a monster cranking out over 3300 total yards and 38 TDs. Their defense has been outstanding as well.
They will most likely do no worse than a 2 seed in the playoffs. They have back to back games with Hub City and Wasilla, so they can't afford to let up just yet.
3- Delta Dreamers __ 10-2-0 -- Delta was looking unbeatable the first half of the season, rolling out an 8 game winning streak. Unfortunately, they suffered a resounding defeat at the hands of Whitby, and then lost a close one to Charlotte.
The good news for them is they have smooth sailing for the remainder of the regular season.
4- Hub City Hustlers __ 9-3-0 -- These guys are coming off a big win over Wasilla. They have a very good RB tandem, and a solid defense. Hub City controls their own destiny, since they play Whitby, Mont-Tremblant, and Charlotte in the coming weeks. They have the toughest schedule remaining of any team in this conference.
It's a tough row to hoe, but if they pull it off, they would be the #2 seed in the playoffs. Easier said than done, but anything can happen.
5- Mont-Tremblant Flying Broncos __ 8-4-0 -- Mont-Tremblant has been looking good all season, but the Burnaby loss was a big set-back. They have one of the better defenses in this conference, which has helped them hang around in the top 5 all season. They are pretty much in the same boat as Hub City, finishing the season with Hub City, Whitby, and Wasilla.
6- Wasilla Arctodus __ 8-4-0 -- Suffered a tough loss to Hub City today. That hasn't eliminated them from a chance at home field, but they will have to win out (including games against Whitby, Chicago, and Mont-Tremblant) and have a little help.
Their defense is up to the task, but they are going to need help from the offense to hang in there.
Trying to make the playoffs
Burnaby and Chicago look to be in good shape to make the playoffs. While Rocky Mountain still has a shot, it is a slim shot.
7- Burnaby Beaver Lovers 7-5-0 -- To be honest, I had already counted these guys out. Their win over Mont-Tremblant has them looking a bit more solid than they appeared to be previous to that win. They have a chance to make a statement in a couple of weeks in their game against Charlotte.
The rest of their schedule doesn't look too tough, but Caribou could upset them if Burnaby isn't careful.
8- Chicago Blitz 7-5-0 -- Chicago is sitting in good position right now. Three of their last four games are very winnable. If they can maintain their record, they will make the playoffs. They just seem to struggle in big games, but I'm sure MM and company are looking to turn that around for the playoffs.
Close games that come down to the last seconds seem to be Chicago's specialty.
Not looking good
Rocky Mountain, Caribou, Alpha, and Thunder Bay are mathematically still in the playoff picture. It would take them winning out and a lot of help in order to make it. As the title says...not looking good.
9- Rocky Mountain Caddies __ 5-7-0 -- These guys have a very slim chance of making the playoffs, but have a better chance than the next three teams obviously. If they could somehow manage to beat Delta and Chicago, that would put them at 9-7 and give them the tie breaker over Chicago.
A very tall order indeed.
10- Caribou Vikings __ 4-8-0 -- Caribou is better than their record indicates. They have lost four games by a total of 23 points (less than a TD per game). Lost a heart breaker today to Chicago, when Chicago hit a late FG to win it by two. That was probably the final nail in the coffin for Caribou.
Even if they beat Delta and Burnaby, that would still give them an 8-8 record. I don't think anyone has ever had the kind of lick that they're going to need to make the playoffs.
11- Alpha Flight __ 4-8-0 -- They are currently suffering through a four game losing streak. Their TE, Sallad Kralc's 2000+ yards and 21 TDs hasn't been nearly enough to put them over this season. With games against Mont-Tremblant and Charlotte coming up, it looks like Alpha Flight is about to be grounded for the playoffs.
12- Thunder Bay Tin Men __ 4-8-0 -- I honestly don't know what to make of this team. They aren't that bad as far as their talent level, and they haven't really been getting destroyed in too many games. They potentially could win out, but unfortunately, that would put them at 8-8. Once again, I don't think 8-8 is good enough to make the playoffs.
Just wanting to get this season over with.
These guys were never really in contention.
13- Toronto Regas __ 3-9-0 -- Too many CPU players, not enough wins. That pretty much sums it up.
14- Washington Ghost Riders __ 1-11-0 -- CPU
15- Cedarville Hawks __ 1-11-0 -- 2 non-CPU starters = bad season.
16- Vancouver Jax __ 0-12-0 -- Owner still hasn't logged in since last Christmas.
