This weekend, an epic battle will be staged. Two forces with a long history of legendary battles both on the field and on the forums will collide. Two teams enter undefeated in conference play, but only one will leave with that claim intact. Don't mistake the mutual respect in this rivalry for softness or lack of motivation. These teams will be playing their absolute hardest.

There's extra drama this season as Buster McGrew plays the Mountaineers for the first time since his return to the Attack. Buster beat up the Mountaineers for hundreds of yards as a member of the Attack in seasons 4 and 5, but joined the Mountaineers when his team disbanded for seasons 6 and 7. When the Attack reformed for season 8, McGrew was one of their top recruitment targets. Once his contract expired at the end of that season, the deal was done and Buster returned home. This Sunday he will defend that true home against his old teammates, the Moutaineers from Kathmandu. Will the Mountaineers stuff McGrew in revenge for his returning to his old team? Or will Ack & Co. show why Buster wanted to come back to the Attack?

Buster is not the only familiar name in this matchup. Kathmandu QB Scrappy Q. Bee knows very well the ominous feeling of staring over towards the sidelines and seeing the smiling, maniacal face of the fastest man on earth, Speedy Gonzales Jr., waiting impatiently for a chance to pick off a pass. Kathmandu HB Ryan Rogeness is a terrifying sight for the Ack Attack defense to see. They remember him as the Jakarta Vipers HB who ran over the conference in season 4 before joining Kathmandu when his team disbanded after season 6. Trying to keep Rogeness of the field will be Attack center Siala-Mou Siligia, who was the first player in history ever to sign an Ack Attack contract, way back in the season 3 offseason, as a level 4 center. He's all grown up now and ready to mow down some defensive linemen.

There's a lot of respect between these teams and players, and even more history. That all adds up to huge motivation to claim bragging rights for the season. There will be no holds barred in this matchup, no special plays held back, no stamina reserved, no players showing up with their tactics on 'relaxed'. This will be a blood battle to the death. Don't miss it!

Season 4, regular season: http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=123881
Ack Attack 42
Kathmandu Mountaineers 14

Both teams ran the ball successfully in this matchup, but Ack was able to shut down the Kathmandu passing game which represented a majority of the Mountaineers plays. Nish Foswish led the Ack rushing attack with 22 carries for 128.5 yards, but Buster McGrew pitched in solidly with 12 rushes for 65 yards and 2 TDs, a healthy 5.4 yards per carry. Prime Minister Yah Mon led the Attack defense with 3 tackles (none missed), a pass defense and an interception in just 23 plays.

Frank Bochamp rocked the Ack defense for 60 yards on 10 rushes with a touchdown and his fellow Mountaineer back SlippinUTha Pike fared almost as well, but they didn't get the rock often enough to make a big impact in the final score. Kathmandu QB Scrappy QB threw for 1 TD and 1 int in his 86 yards on 26 attempts (12 completed). Their defense was led by CJ Phillips, who recorded 8 tackles including 2 for a loss.

The game was still in doubt until a drive late in the third quarter when, leading 28-14, The attack intercepted the ball at the Mountaineer 31 yard line ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=123881&pbp_id=5957076 ), then proceeded to march to the goal line where Buster McGrew punched it in between the left guard and tackle on 2nd and goal from the 1 yard line. ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=123881&pbp_id=5957274 ).

Season 4, playoffs: http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=134988
(3)Ack Attack 27
(6)Kathmandu Mountaineers 14

Both teams learned from their regular season encounter and ran the ball more often than they did in their first meeting. Ack pounded the ball a little harder and a little more frequently and came away with the win. FB Buster McGrew was the clear star of the game, rushing for 133 yards and a TD (and 11 broken tackles) on 17 carries, for a whopping 7.8 yards per carry average. The other Ack backs chipped in as well to rack up well over 300 yards on the ground for the Attack with a 5.5 yards per carry average. Ack's D came up big with two interceptions as well.

The Mountaineer rushing attack was still successful, but not quite as much as in the regular season. Bochamp and Pike combined for 127 yards on 32 carries, entering the end zone once. The real star for Kathmandu was KR/PR Clash Jazz, who came up with a clutch 83.5 kickoff return for a touchdown in the first quarter to re-establish the Mountaineer lead at 14-7 ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=134988&pbp_id=8720502 ).

The Attack put this game away in eerily similar fashion to the regular season matchup. First, Speedy Gonzales Jr. picked off a bobbled pass near the opponents' 30 yard line. ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=134988&pbp_id=8722395 ). A few plays later Buster McGrew capped off the short drive with a TD on 2nd and goal from the 2.5 ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=134988&pbp_id=8722506 )

The Attack went on to lose to the Nagasaki in a classic second round playoff matchup game that included a controversial Ack decision not to attempt the game tying field goal with time running down an the ball at the Rage 25 yard line. The Attack lost 31-30.

Season 5, regular season: http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=179992
Kathmandu Mountaineers 33
Ack Attack 31

The Mountaineers prevailed in this epic SE Asia A#7 Naga battle that ultimately determined which team would carry the #1 seed into the playoffs, as neither team lost another conference game all season. Kathmandu rode the morale boost from this victory into a perfect 16-0 regular season.

This was the definition of a close game, with no turnovers and Kathmandu outgaining Ack by a mere 5 yards. Kathmandu kicked a field goal with under two minutes left in the second quarter to earn a 13-10 halftime lead, then exploded out of the gates with a 76 yard Mark Cupp TD run on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=179992&pbp_id=3312370 ). Ack put valiant effort into a game of catch-up, but never quite got there as the Mountaineers answered back with just enough TDs of their own to maintain the lead. The Ack did get one last chance when a fourth down stop earned them the ball back at their own 38, down 2, with 1:44 to play in the fourth quarter. Quaterback Sweet "Sassy" Molassy completed three straight passes to move the ball to the Kathmandu 23.5 yard line, but the Ack coaches inexplicably failed to use their timeouts which caused the clock to run run down to 15 seconds left after just those three plays. Forced to kick on 1st and 10, Ack sent out kicker Michael Dufont for a 40.5 yard field goal attempt that would have won the game. The ensuing kick is burned into the memories of every true Ack Attack fan, all of whom cringe whenever they hear the words 'wide right'.

Kathmandu HB Mark Cupp was player of the game with 21 rushes for 189 yards and 3 TDs. His QB Scrappy Q. Bee added in a solid effort with 20/31 passes completed for 199.5 yards and a TD. Ack's Buster McGrew was held to just 53.5 yards on 15 carries as the Ack passing Attack had to pick up the slack for the MIA rushing game. Sweet "Sassy" Molassy and Georg Packert completed an amazing 27 out of 33 passes for 263.5 y ards and 3 touchdowns, spreading the ball out fairly evenly amongst 8 Ack Attack receivers.

Season 8, scrimmage game: http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=450848
Kathmandu Mountaineers 31
Ack Attack 30

After the Ack Attack reformed a competitive team in season 8, building their roster 100% from scratch, one of the first orders of business was to get back on the field with the Mountaineers. Kathmandu of course quickly accepted and the scrimmage date was set approximately one third of the way through the regular season. Both teams made the standard (and accurate) disclaimers about not gameplanning for the game, with Ack even pledging to use their kicker for punts and Kathmandu likely bringing similar strategic apathy to the table. For that reason the game almost isn't worth mentioning... except that true to the tradition of this series, the game had an exciting and suspenseful ending.

Ack dominated the stats all game, equaling or bettering Kathmandu in every measurable way. They outgained the Mountaineers 565 yards to 174.5 with an effective balanced attack that moved the ball both on the ground and through the air. The Mountaineers offense was unable to match, averaging only 2.7 yards per carry and 3.1 yards per pass. Attacker Courtney Durazo led the way amongst all defenders with 4 tackles (0 missed) including 2 sacks, adding 2 hurries and 2 passes deflected.

But, wait. Ack dominated all aspects... except for special teams. Kathmandu kick returner Oscar McVeil was a one-man team on this particular day, returning both a kick and a punt for touchdowns en route to racking up 430 total return yards. Ack attack kicker Panties Sniffer was filling in for punter Adam Ramanauskes, who was still hung over (or perhaps drunk) from the night before and insisted on covering punts rather than kicking them. Sniffer averaged only 25.7 yards per punt... which were then returned for an average of 29 yards by McVeil. The Attack would have been better off running the QB kneel on 4th down rather than punting. Kicker Lucky McPressure was also perfect for the Mountaineers in contrast to Sniffer's failure on a 30 yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter.

When Ack Attack, up 6 points with 1:51 to play, punted the ball on 4th and 6 from the mountaineer 41.5 yard line, they were hoping for a touchback that would allow their defense to finish off the game by smothering the Mountaineer offense like they had all day long. But when the shanked punt travelled only 20 yards, Oscar McVeil seized the football, and the day, returning the punt 79 yards for a one point Mountaineer lead ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=450848&pbp_id=6157604 ). The Attack returned the kickoff to their own 40 and thought they had the game won when WR Future "Rice" star was wide open on 4th and 1, but Mountaineer CB Ivan McBlanket made an amazing pass deflection to seal the victory for the Mountaineers ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=450848&pbp_id=6157942 ).

Wow, even for someone religiously playing a MMORPG you're a huge nerd. Out of curiosity, how much time did you spend crammed inside your own locker in high school?

The last two posts are the sort of fail posting that I will eliminate as mod. Join the growing crusade to mod me. Seriously theres like 200 people endorsing me so its going to happen.

This league is not about sucking yourself off threads like this one. It is not about pointless threads that serve no one bar the person who posted it and his ego. Seriously I thought we had fixed this shit two seasons ago.

How do you explain your "barred by future mod" post? That is the most ego-centric thing I've seen AND THAT WAS A "FAIL POST". The original post that I defended was about a big match up coming up in the league, and the earlier games played between those teams. Will everyone look at it? No. But it was pertinent to the league we play in and did not promote the author, whereas you have patted yourself on the back twice in two posts.

You're a jackass emp, and answering to you as a moderator would be an insult of irreducible proportions. I really hope they don't give you that kind of access. By the way..."crusade to mod me", "200 people are pushing for this." I have some reading material for you:

Heres how I justify it. You have one poster making 5 posts in a row to feed his own ego. Its about a week 5 game. The history involved is meaningless as the Mountaineers have been here for two seasons. Its borderline trolling to be honest.

Had the thread been started with one post asking peoples opinion on the rivalry and had a little trash talking Id have no problems with it. As for my modship well 90% of FFA is supporting it as well as a large proportion of current and former owners and GMs from across all of South East Asia. Ive been in the league for a tonne of time and want the posting standard to improve. Id be a great mod.

So no more fail posting unless you're a great mod who can't spell the word "ton"? Just want to be clear on the rules. I can't get over how highly you think of yourself. If they give you SEA AA4 mod status, what's next? The White House? Running a Fortune 500 company perhaps? Just because you are in love with yourself doesn't make your "fail posts" more legitimate "Emperor". I wish the kids you graduate HS with left you in that damn locker. This will be my last "fail post", I promise.

Its spelled tonne (1 tonne = 1000kg). The sooner America embraces SI and the metric system and stops clinging to its antiquated crap the better.
