Just a quick Q, but would this VA work at all for a Guard on pitch and screen plays to his side, or is it mainly useful for FBs, TEs and Tackles?

I wouldn't waste my VXP on this for a guard, hoping it works. IMO.

I agree, which is why I was asking. Was curious if anyone had seen any solid effect with it. There seems to be at least a couple plays where the guard does sweep around to block on outside runs.

To answer the OP's question - yes, this VA helps your Guard on pitches and screens. It should be for RG/TE/FB mainly.

My new question to the community is this-

Does anyone know if Outside Blocker has any role in the OT position?

I have seen people suggest for OT's to use Outside Blocker, but in my perspective the OT never goes to the outside.

It seems that this VA will only work for pulling Guards or TE/FB blocking on pitches and screens.

Can anyone confirm this?

The ROT blocks on HB screens and the LOT blocks on WR screens. I have not seen it help on WR screens since that play is still nerfed. I have seen it work well on HB screens if the HB can get behind his blocks in time.

It is useful for FBs. Not on the weak I pitch, but on a few others, I swear by it. A G, not so much.

Really, I'd use it only on FBs, RTs, and TEs. And RTs and TEs only on screen heavy teams.

Another question for you guys...

Obviously this VA fires on screens for the ROT

but part of the descriptions says "outside runs" well technically the offtackle is considered an outside run in the playbook

but later in the VA description Bort calls it "screen blocker"

so it's a bit misleading

anyone know if it fires on the offtackle plays? I assume NO, but some people on one of my teams are confused about it.

It gives you a bonus on screen and pitch plays. Period. "you are a great outside blocker" doesn't say ANYTHING about blocking on offtackle runs. The VA precisely says what it does, and it does not include outside runs.
