To try and liven things up around here (and I have a little vacation time). I am going to try and start a poll for the Western Conference. I would like to do one for the entire league, but I don't know if I will have enough time and I don't want to bite off more than I can chew (sorry Eastern Conference). I want to see how successful this goes first. So here are the rules:

1.) Send your rankings of all 16 Western Conference teams to me. I will probably just do a top ten, but if I generate a lot of interest, I may do all the teams. You can send your picks to me at:
http://goallineblitz.com/game/new_message.pl?to=30250

2.) One representative from each team will be taken. The first agent to PM me from any Western Conference team will get precedence over anyone else from that team. The only exception to this rule will be that the owner trumps all of their teams agent's rankings with their own submission or that owner designates an agent who I can take a ranking list from. Each Eastern Conference team falls into the same category.

3.) If I can't get at least 5 teams to represent from the Western Conference, then I won't bother doing this. I will just assume this is a dead forum.

4.) Anyone who is not part of this league can participate as well. If I get anything weird, I may throw this rule out or modify it (like limit the number of rogue pollsters). I doubt anyone outside our league will send me anything though.

5.) I will use the typical format as any poll would. First place gets 16 points, second place gets 15 points, and so on.

6.) I would like to list who was all involved in the poll, but I will not reveal their picks. They can do so if they choose.

7.) Hopefully I can do this every Friday or Saturday during the season.

8.) I understand this could turn into an utter failure as some people like to jack polls up with stupidity. If this is you, please refrain from sending me anything. Remember, this is meant to be fun and make this league enjoyable. If I get more garbage from people then contrite responses, I won't do it.

9.) If you have an idea or see a flaw in my plan, let me know.

10.) Have fun with it .

I tried something like this in season 7, it didn't last very long, tbh.

I'll dip in as a pollster....

I'll also fire up some power rankings....Not every week like I used to back in the day...but perhaps every 4 games. Or 3,,,or something....

Rankings on their way to you.

I only received three polls, so I will keep everyone anonymous for now. I am just going to do a top 10 since we now have 3 cpu's, so it is pointless to rank everyone (granted one of the cpu's is undefeated). Hopefully this will spark a little excitement in this league and maybe someone else will submit a top ten next week to me.

Remember to send your picks to:

Top 5 Number one votes in italics.

1.) Humboldt Killer Hornets 25 (4-0) Opponents Record 9-7
Since the owner moved his ball club from Winnipeg, this team seems to have completely changed their identity. With many teams fighting for Winnipeg's fan base, the owner wanted to try an untapped city in Saskatchewan. Statistically, they have the best overall defense in the entire league. With a solid +10 in the turnover category is making it very easy for the offense to put up points. Willie Beamen is torching opposing defenses with his arm. They have played a tough schedule drawing up one of the tougher teams from the other side and the Maniacs. That record is inflated by DC Money throwing in the towel and going cpu before their game today. They haven't faced the cream of the crop yet and will have a difficult time holding the top spot. They will have their manhood tested this week with the Hitman and Swords of Chaos, but first up is the Paragoners desperate to turn their season around.

2.) Nunavut Puffin Eaters 23 1 (4-0) Opponents Record 7-9
I gave them the number two seed because they have a first place vote and the Plague don't. This was my top selection before the season started. At the beginning of the season this was a very deep team. I see their chemistry is a little down, so I don't know how much of their roster has changed since then. Magic Carpet Ride and Johnny Fouts are using their arms to carry the offensive load and Watch My Ass As I Run Away From U is reaping the benefits and an eastern conference MVP contender. They have great team defense as well. They simply don't miss tackles, so you better outrun them or they will bring you down. Opposing quarterbacks will be running for their life as their defensive front is very solid as they are second in sacks and third in hurries. They will play in the game of the week on Monday against Windsor Fury which might decide who has home field advantage all the way through the playoffs.

3.) The Oklahoma City Plague 23 (3-1) Opponents Record 5-11
I noticed they have a shiny trophy on their page saying they took the Canadian Pro Eastern conference championship in season 2, so they have been around and know what they are doing. They have a phenomenal offense that is ranked overall number two right now. Both of their QB's are completing a ridiculous 73% of their passes which puts them third in the league. What makes them even more deadly is their running game. If you add up the Hornets and the Eaters entire rushing offenses then double that number its still 200 yards behind these guys. Good luck stopping this offense which has scored the second most points in the league. It might help they they have a +16 in the turnover category as well. Next up for these guys is some freakish cpu team that is undefeated and a vaunted rushing attack of the Maniacs.

4.) Windsor Fury 22 1 (4-0) Opponents Record 8-8
Fear not Fury as two of the pollsters submitted their picks before today's game, granted one of them gave you the top spot still. What I like about this team is they seemed to be higher level then most teams and good depth in the glamour positions. This has paid off making them have the third best offense statistically in the league. They do a really good job of spreading the ball to everyone, so it's difficult to tell who their difference makers are. On defense, they are just like the Eaters as they rarely miss tackles. Itsame Mario sticks out as their best defensive player as he currently leads the league in hurries. They do rank 4th and 3rd in kickoffs and punt returns respectively which makes this team even more multi dimensional. Like I said earlier, they play a big game on Monday against the Puffin Eaters and then try their luck against a superfied cpu team.

5.) Tofino Drunken Hobos 19 (4-0) Opponents Record 6-10
Why I love this team is they love to call their shot and have always backed it up. Not only that, but they made an owner quit. I make a note of this as there is nothing worse then spending the time to game plan for a team and the owner quits midseason giving the Hobo's conference opponents all easy wins that they had to fight for. You can stash that feather in your hat permanently. This team has a very solid defense with a lot of level 30+ players on it. They can probably boast having the leagues top three defensive ends as they have spent this season chasing QB's down easily. Throw in bone crusher t as a legitimate defensive MVP candidate this season as he has a very good chance of causing a fumble if he touches the ball carrier. Unfortunately for them, this seems to be the season of super offenses and the defenses took a step back. Maybe these guys can prove the league wrong. They have some big games coming up with the Hitman, Chaos, and Eaters coming up.

The rest of the top ten:

6.) Beefcake 17 1
7.) Maniacs 13
8.) Hitman 11
9.) Money 6
10.) Renegade 4

I probably won't spend as much time typing up stuff as I am basically reiterating what the stats already say. Anyways, enjoy.

Not to worry, the Hobo offense is ready to explode at a moment's notice.... The Hitmen will find this out the hard way....

Sorry Hitmen, but this contract is going to come up EMPTY for you...

Fear the Hobos....Witness the road to 16-0

Nice write up ND.

On a side note for the OKC Plague, I wish we could say that we've been around since season 2 but this is only our 3rd season (Season 7 was our first). That trophy was part of the franchise we inherited it after the team went CPU so we can hardly claim credit for it
