Season 9: Week 2 - Shuffle Madness!

With the advent of the shuffle the leagues hare a hell of a lot more competitive. Certainly there are some stand out teams, but by and large the first few weeks are going to be a crap shoot as far as picking the actual rankings. In particular the middle of the pack teams. But its what I get paid for, so I will do my best.

This weeks rankings:

1. October Wildfire
2. Luxembourg Lightning Bolts
3. Red River Ruminants
4. Whitechapel Rippers
5. London Olympians
6. Glasgow Cats
7. Barcelona Bisons
8. Flint Hobo
9. Leipzig Lions
10. Mile High Hitmen
11. Honolulu Wave Riders
12. Arlington Sandlot
13. Reading Armed Centaurs
14. Russian Strelets
15. Rome Ramblin' Thornites
16. St. George Javalinas

This weeks games:

1. (1) October Wildfire vs. (11) Honolulu Wave Riders
The Wildfire has been consistently good this pre-season loosing only to the Dunder Mifflin Paper Co. They go against a decent Honolulu team, that just does not have enough firepower to keep up. Look for the Wildfire to run wild on the Wave Riders.

October Wildfire 65 : Honolulu Wave Riders 21

2. (2) Luxembourg Lightning Bolts vs. (13) Reading Armed Centaurs
Luxembourg beat the Dunder Mifflin Paper Co., but then lost to the other Top Alpha Team The Green Island Flying Fish. They shouldn't have too much trouble with the Armed Centaurs though.

Luxembourg Lightning Bolts 35 : Reading Armed Centaurs 18

3. (3) Red River Ruminants vs. (5) London Olympians **** Game of the Week ****
This is my pick for the game of the week. Even though the Red River team lost their first game, I think they are one of the top 3 teams in the league. The London Olympians want to prove me wrong, but they will have to find a way to put up points against a very stingy Ruminant defense. I think that task will prove to much to ask, and the Ruminants will take the win.

Red River Ruminants 24: London Olympians 10

4. (4) Whitechapel Rippers vs. (9) Leipzig Lions
The Rippers are a solid all around team that is good on both sides of the ball. The Lions have been inconsistent in the pre-season, and will struggle in this game against an opponent that overmatches them.

Whitechapel Rippers 45 : Leipzig Lions 7

5. (6) Glasgow Cats vs. (12) Arlington Sandlot
This is a match up of old rivals from the BBB#6 league. The Glasgow Cats lost their last matchup 35-37. After some roster moves in the off season they come back with a stronger team and expect to get their revenge.

Glasgow Cats 45 : Arlington Sandlot 26

6. (7) Barcelona Bisons vs. (10) Mile High Hitmen
The Barcelona Bisions have struggled to find their offense and their defense this pre-season, but look to set things right against the Mile High Hitmen. They have a ton of talent and once they get their tactics working should be a strong force in the league. The Hitmen on the other hand have shown and ability to play up to, or down to their opponents. This game could go either way, but for now I will stick with the talent on the Bisons to pull it out.

Barcelona Bisons 25 : Mile High Hitmen 17

7. (8)Flint Hobo vs. (16) St. George Javalinas
The Flint Hobo team has shown some surprising game play in the pre-season and has looked pretty solid. They could be better than their 8th place seeding shows. The Javalinas on the other hand are probably right where they should be in last place. Their offense has failed to put points on the board, and you can't win if you don't score.

Flint Hobo 56 : St. George Javalinas 6

8. (14) Russian Strelets vs. (15) Rome Ramblin' Thornites
The Russians and Rome are both under performing teams, that have struggled a bit in the pre-season. One of these teams will get a bit of a boost from the win, while the other will still be looking to get on track. I think the Strelets will get the win this week.

Russian Strelets 25 : Rome Ramblin' Thornites 24

Good Luck Everyone!

I'm going to have to agree with your game of the week pick there!

And it is too early to call anybody a #1, but thanks for putting us on top. However our loss to Dunder was far from impressive, and I believe a few other Zeta teams managed some preseason wins there =).

Will be interesting to see how things play out early in this league, as I have no clue about anybody here.

Yah, the top 3 teams are interchangeable imho, but you got to start somewhere. The middle of the pack is pretty bunched up as well.

We know each other as we were in the same league together so this might be closer than you think in our favour of course

Yah, but teams were allowed to recruit after the shuffle, so it was possible to improve, or gut your team after the shuffle. Some teams had players who had Season 9, day 1 contracts. Etc... But in general the spread between the teams isn't as big as I have in my Eastern Europe BBB league.
