This is for a level 40 center, but has anyone thought about just seriously investing more in agility since that is what DTs seem to be focusing on now?

I am talking about getting strength to around 80 for a level 40 center, and agility also at 80-90.

Just like to get some thoughts out there on this.

Haven't seen it tried...but I am pretty skeptical about an 80 strength center...

Seems pretty useless. My 115 strength 70 agility Center does a fine job at protecting the QB, and is a pretty big asset in run blocking. At best an 80 strength center would be a minor asset in pass blocking, and a minor liability in run blocking. Not to mention that you're missing out on the incredible level gains that a center gets from leveling up. The +1 strength/Blocking that centers get from level ups is so prodigious, that I'm surprised more teams don't end up taking centers and placing them at Guard/blocking TE.

80 Strength C vs. 110 Strength NT

Who wins?

DTs are agility. Doesn't mean NTs are. These guys have 110 + strength as previously stated.

From experience, even my 90 strength Gs get reversed pancaked by DTs. I'd be scared to see how an 80 strength C held up against a 110 strength NT.

Reverse pancaking doesn't always have to do with strength though.

If a high agility guy put 15 points into "heavyweight", I'm betting he could get plenty of reverse pancakes even without higher strength.

But still, I don't think sacrificing strength is the right thing to do for a C. You want your C to be able to run block the NT by himself, and if he doesn't have enough strength that's not going to happen.

imo, high agility DTs are best contained by having high blocking, and adequate agility. 90 blocking and 60-70 agility should be plently. That can easily be done whilst still having 100+strength.

Agreed...

I think people sometimes neglect blocking, but if I'm not mistaken, Bort has said that blocking is a big factor in the hold block roll, so I think a good counter to high agility guys is to push blocking up.

I like the logic. "Going really high strength and neglecting agility didn't work...maybe I should go really high agility and neglect strength?!"
