Some of my own players are around 70-74 natural speed. At what point is it not worth throwing sp's into. Like putting 4 or 5 to get 1 increase when you could throw those sp's in other attributes that aren't soft capped.

asap to 68 or 74 and then stop .... you need so much more to cap, confidence, vision, carrying, catching, jumping, agility ... if you stop @68 you don't need the next 24SP to 74 and you can complete your build earlier ...
i think only for centers and guards strength (and blocking) to 74 ... the rest of the positions should stop @68

You can stop at the 3:1 cap and be just fine. Wasting skill points to the 4:1 or even 5:1 cap will hurt your player in the long run and, actually, short run.

Eh. I think where you spend points in the beginning is what matters. If you conserved, then taking skills to the 4:1 and 5:1 will only separate your player.

CB's in higher leagues to be the best need 90+SPD and 90+AGI.. to get this you need more than the 3:1 cap.

3:1 cap and have your training set to get you to 68 with one train, and you'll be on the right track.

I personally believe that a CB with 85 speed and 75 agility is more valuable then one with 95 speed and 60 agility. If you take everything you have into speed early on , and get it to 68 right away, you'll be just fine.

So in answer to your question, it really depends on what level your at when you get to 68. If your 40 you better not quit, if your 15 then your done.
