This is a simple suggestion, but one that I think these forums really need to consider. This game is still in its early stages, and I am concerned by the behavior of folks on the forums. The flat out rudeness is unbelievable.

There are too many legitimate questions and concerns that are pounced upon by the veterans of the community, and torn apart like a pack of wolves. It brings up the question: Why are you here? It seems some people are just so miserable, that they get off on trying to bring other people down.

Nothing stinks of being a loser like berating a new person, or even worse, misleading them. This game is nuanced, and if someone is willing to take the time to ask a question, and you don't want to help them, maybe you should think twice before responding at all.

Another loser move is calling someone a "newbie" or "noob". I know this game is measured in seasons, but I am not sure people realize how idiotic they look when they try to berate a person for simply being new to a year old game, and then talk about their "seasons" of experience.

This is not directed at everyone, as there are plenty of helpful folks here. I guess I am asking that perhaps people just try to follow the Golden Rule, and treat others as they would like to be treated. If you have such mental issues that you cannot control yourself from being a total ass, perhaps discussion forums are not for you. You could try some other anti-social activity instead, such as unibombing or serial killing. Or, maybe get a dog so someone will love you. Just a thought.

Just quit reading them if they offend you, it's not a required part of the game to have fun. But everyone has to have an opinion about this.

It is the truth. There is no "search" function in the forums to find a previous post. If a person has a legit question, isn't he entitled to ask??? I am sure Bort wouldn't jump someones shit for asking a simple question. I had it happen tonight and I have been an active GM for championship caliber teams. I have been here since season 3.

If you can't help someone with a question, don't respond to them. It is that simple. There is no reason to rip them.

I am not offended, as I have been around forums for awhile, and know there are idiots who like to troll. Everyone does not have that same perspective, though. When the community becomes so elitist that simple questions are bombarded by nitwits who think they are great because they have been playing the game for longer, it is not good for the long term health of the game.

A new player comes to the forum for some veteran advice, and too frequently, they get berated, patronized, or made the fool. New people are the life blood of the game. Without them, the game will wither and die.

Have we regressed so far as a society that we can't treat people with common courtesy? It is easy to sit behind a computer with anonymity and take pot shots. The true measure of a person is how they treat people they don't have to treat well.

I have no problem with common courtesy, but will harangue someone who shows up in the suggestions forum and asks "how do I build a player.

There is a big difference between being a newbie (we all have been there) and not having basic reading comprehension skills. For those without those skills, there is a big difference between "Suggestions" and "FAQs, Player Guides, and Newbie Help".

I agree. Length of time here at GLB does not necessarily equate to knowledge. Especially with the multis and sold accounts taken into consideration. There have been people with S1 accounts ask me the most elementary of questions. There have also been people with new accounts that have a vast wealth of knowledge.

I understand it is frustrating, but that is just a byproduct of having something open to the general public. I just don't think it is helpful when you have about 30 people running around, thinking they are moderators, while contributing nothing but negativity.

Instead of completely blaming those people, I would blame the system to some degree. When someone signs up to play the game, they get very little help. If they go to their own team forums, there is usually little help because their team is packed with slowbuilders, who could care less abut that team.
