I did something similar with my team, and wanted to throw this idea out: Pro Bowl Team!

We could all vote to pick a Western Conference and an Eastern Conference Pro Bowl team. Ofcourse the game will not be played out, but it could be a badge of honor players can wear.

Some thoughts:
1. Only users affiliated with USA A #2 will be allowed to vote.
2. You can not vote for a player from your own team.
3. Voting will end once regular season ends.

I wanted to run this by everyone to see if people are interested? Should we have additional rules to make this as fair as possible? If there is interest, i could make a thread about this and start the voting process.

Thoughts?

Sounds like an interesting idea, what are your thoughts on how you can accomplish this?

Well, we have 3 options:

1) Create a thread and let people vote. This is the easiest to implement, but would require man power to sift through the votes if we get a large response

2) Use Surveymonkey. Never used it before. The free version has limitations we might be able to work around. Will have to investigate.

3) Have someone among us who has the skill and hosting space build a voting feature for us. Best solution. I could build something out but do not have a place to host. Does anyone know a free hosting site we could use?

I say nothing wrong with voting for guys on your own teams as long as people are honest. If people are gonna be douche bags and we got 32 nominations for QB because everybody votes for their own player then it's gay.

In our last league, we had it figured that each team woule be allowed 1 represenative for voting. It can be either a GM or an Owner.

That way, you don't get 40 guys from Windsor all voting for The Bomber, and I win because we have more people.

1 guy per team, vote for best at each position - and don't be douchebags and vote for just your guys.

Best guys/gals win.

I agree 1 vote per team.

That does sound cool.

As a scout for Windsor, do I still get a vote even though I have no players on their team?

I don't like the idea of 1 vote per team. It is impossible to represent the opinions of all players on team in a collective vote. Everyone having their own votes makes it that much more exciting! Everyone has a say. Also, if we let all players vote, we would have a much bigger sample of people instead of just 16 votes which would make the voting less biased.

To summarize:
1. I see there is interest and that we should proceed with this idea
2. We have the Outlaws website we could leverage (do you know if we could host something like this there. I could write something in php and sql)
3. What do people think about one vote per team or one vote per user?

I'm even ok with prohibiting voting for players on your own team.

If you can vote for guys on your own team, then those are the guys who you have the most exposure to, so you're probably (albeit unintentionally) biased towards your own team.

If you have to vote for someone on another team, then you have to vote for someone who impressed you when you played them (likely) or someone who just kicks a lot of ass in some game that you had nothing to do with (less likely).

This should shift the votes away from everyones own team.

Although it may not even be a problem anyway, so I just thought I'd toss this out there.

Also, are we going to have everyone vote for every position? The 11 Offense, 11 Def, KR (and a kicker), PR (and a punter), and maybe another ST guy? So 27 total?

Thanks,
StickMan

Here's how you solve that:

You take nominations, for each positions. Then you vote on the nominations. Whoever gets the most votes at each position is who your represenative casts his votes for.

The best format for this is a Message Board that allows Polls - and run by somebody who will make sure that a maximum of 32 (1 per team) votes are cast. If Somebody gets 37 votes, the you know your security is crap.

I can do this on the PID site if necessary, I did it last season. Or, if the Outlaws site can do that then fine. I'd rather not run it, as it's time consuming to set up 52 Polls and set all the access privaledges properly. I can do it, but I'd rather not. I say 52 because you have 26 players from 2 conferences:

QB
RB
FB
WR
WR
TE
OT
OT
OG
OG
C

DE
DE
DT
NT
MLB
LOLB
ROLB
CB
CB
FS
SS

K
P
PR
KR

The way I see it working, is you need 4 nominees for each position. For DEs, OGs, OTs, WRs, and OLBs you need 6 or 8.

The top vote getter is the 1st Teamer
The next highest is the 2nd Teamer

In the event of a unanimous vote - won't happen - then a second round of voting has to be done to determine the 2nd Teamers.

Do you guys just want me to do it?

Essentialy it is an All-American team.

I think every individual should get a vote, but they should NOT be able to vote for their own teammates.

Also, are we going to take a first and second string? so, top six LBs would make it, top four CBs, and the top 4 WRs--top two at every other position?

Counting the voting for this will be VERY difficult for one person to do. Voting should be handled by each team owner (they can setup their own way to do it). They would tally the votes for their team and send the COMPLETE results to whoever is the final collection point.
