I assigned a value of 1-5 to five categories.

a - Team Rating
42 = 5
39 = 4
36 = 3
33 = 2
30 and below = 1

b - Average Offensive Starter Level
15+ = 5
13-14 = 4
11-12 = 3
9-10 = 2
below 9 = 1

c - Average Defensive Starter Level
15+ = 5
13-14 = 4
11-12 = 3
9-10 = 2
below 9 = 1

d - Owner/GMs
Long time Professional GM/ownership with trophies = 5 (no one has this)
Long time high level GM/ownership with obvious winning experience = 4
Some evidence of winning experience on several GMs = 3
Little evidence of winning experience or several GMs with none = 2
One or two GMs (including owner) with no evidence of winning experience = 1

e - Depth
45+ players = 5
40+ players = 4
36 + players = 3
32 + players = 2
less than 32 players = 1

I'm not going to claim that it's perfect, but hopefully it is fun. With another day before the rollover a lot can happen.

Your method is far better than those stupid spread sheets. So in my first 3 seasons, those spread sheets had us going 4-12, 5-11, 2-14. What really happened was 13-3, 14-2, 9-7 going from A to AAA. Don't take this as me trying to brag....rather I absolutely hate those spread sheets. They are inaccurate and a complete waste of time. Yet every season, in every league some bozo posts the results.

Rutgar, your analysis is much better and appreciated.

Many of these owners have no players listed, so the method may show a more accurate reading after rosters are filled. I'm sure I will sink down the ranks towards the bottom when that happens.

at this point I'm beginning to wonder if some of these owners are planning on signing ANY human players. I can see signing some guys come day one of next season, but an ENTIRE roster! is there something I'm missing here? The previous two level 13 capped leagues I was part of were extremely competitive. This one is kind of ho-hum, and that isn't a diss to any team that has any level of recruited talent. it's just that there seems to be so many teams who haven't recruited anyone.

I think they have a better chance with CPU players, based on what is left in the FA market, tbh.

good point, but I just wonder what their rationale is. the fun of having a team is building it to your liking, and then taking the reigns tactics wise. if you haven't attracted any talent, and have a roster that is exclusively CPU, you're missing the boat. just my opinion though.

The last time I checked, some of the owners had been inactive for a week or longer. I don't know if they have logged in since then. The only thing they can do now is put in for stadium construction and try to build up finances for the next season.

I see that many owners used their money to upgrade/buy seats instead of building sections. To be more successful next season those owners should focus on the sections because you can add seats later in the season, but not sections themselves. I also notice an owner signed a CPU level 31 and CPU level 24 player. Isn't this supposed to be a capped league?

Where did you find this rating? From last season's games' match-up pages? If so, does that rating change as the team grows, or is that the rating at the time of the game that was played?

Rating is based on who is on the depth chart I believe. If you have a full roster with no one on the depth chart you'll have a lower rating.

The numbers I used where the team ratings as of4-14-09 @ 9:45pm EDT.
