(San Juan) - The San Juan Cabelleros took on Montezuma's Revenge today in what was a much closer game than it appeared. The San Juan Cabelleros were coming off a heart stopping loss in the previous week to the Rio Revolucion. They were trying to bounce back against the Revenge.

The Revenge started the game off first by putting the first points on the board by a 35 yard field goal made by Wide Left. The Cabelleros answered right back with 3:40 to go in the first quarter with a Rush Magruder 5 yard run. The PAT was made by Kicky McBallstriker. In the second quarter the Revenge came out strong with a touchdown pass from Longer to Congress over the middle that went for 8 yards. Wide Left made the PAT. John Cash led the Cabelleros down the field to pick up a 60 yard touchdown strike to Peter Dunn that put the Cabelleros back on top. Revenge kicker Wide Left added a 36 yard field goal to end the half. At this point the Cabelleros were up by a point 14-13. In the third quarter only the Cabelleros were able to pick up some points as the Cabs defense shut out the Revenge during the third. Cash made another pass to Gafelony over the middle for 8 yards and a score. McBallstriker hit the PAT. In the fourther quarter the Revenge attempted a comeback but ended up falling a point short after a 2 yard rush up the middle by Belial Diabolos with the PAT made by Wide Left. Kicky McBallstriker iced the game with a 22 yard field goal. The final score was the San Juan Cabelleros 24 and Montezuma's Revenge 20.

The "Top Offensive Performers" in today's game were led by Cabelleros WR Peter Dunn who picked up 101 yards receiving and a touchdown. John Cash had 207 yards, two touchdowns and once again did not have an interception. Rush Magruder had 13 receiving yards and 44 yards on the ground with his lone touchdown coming on a rush to the left for 5 yards.

The San Juan Cabelleros racked up 339 yards of total offense and limited the Revenge to under 300 yards. The Cabelleros picked up 217 passing yards and 122 rushing yards. The Revenge forced a Cabs fumble, but the Cabs were able to pick it back up and did not lose possesion of the football and would later score on the drive. The kicking game had a minor setback with a missed field goal opportunity, but were successfully able to complete one and all three PATs. The offensive line performed admirably again as they gave up no sacks and racked up 29 pancakes.

The "Top Defensive Performers" included Dylan Windsor with 9 tackles and 2 pass deflections. DJ Hoskin was not to be undone as he picked up 6 tackles and one pass deflection. Finn Sisu made the list with 6 tackles and one quarterback hurry. Ethan White had 5 tackles, one pass deflection, and one tackle for loss.

Overall it was a good hard fought victory for the Cabelleros as they were able to turn around from a tough loss and perform very well in a tough game. As always a few questions have arisen, however, as with all good teams they are consistently pushing to become better. This team shows promise and while they are bouncing back from a tough game two weeks ago they have shown that they have a lot of character with the win today.
