What's going on with you guys? Just took a look at the team, and there are no CBs, and your roster has gone down quite a bit... Everything OK over there?

I hope it's not the case too. I was sorta dreading this game, and now I really don't know what's happening... unless they are another 'farm team' for a USA Pro Team somewhere. That's why I thought I'd ask
Keiichi only owns 1 good player, all his other players are very low level... look like they were just created.

It's sad because they were a 5 seed in last years playoffs and had a promising future...

A potential upset game for Prague and all of a sudden the team bucks and lets go/trades a bunch of people. I call shenanigans.

Maybe people asked to be released after the issues they had in the previous weeks, and he's just trying to get his team prepared to at least try to be competitive next year?

Well as an owner running the team I was constantly having to fill spots with new players. The start of the season when they released new teams I lost about 10 players wanting to move to their own teams or friends teams. I had a few more requests during this season as well. When renewing contracts for next year I had a similar number of players saying they were also leaving to their own teams, friends teams or teams they GMed. With the release of even more new teams I assumed that a few more would do the same.
As any owner knows signing 1 player on the FA market is a crapshoot and takes a huge amount of time and energy. I personally don't have the time for that. I brought in a GM to attempt to fill that void but even he had a lot of trouble signing new players. So I decided to let anyone that wanted off the team prior to the trade/release window to do so. I will fill my team with my own players and the ones who have actually decided to stick with the team. I don't see us making any noise in the league for another couple seasons, but at least for my own personal enjoyment of the game and my insanity as a person this was the best move. No gutting/collusion etc was done here. Was just a personal thing to keep this game fun for me and not feeling like a job.

Everything got messed up with the doubling of teams available during the offseason. It's almost like you had to go out and make a bunch of your own players if you wanted to try and be competative. Thankfully Bort and DD have seen that this hurt the game more than helped it and are going to slowly introduce new teams as the next season goes on. It won't alleviate the problem entirely but it'll cushion the impact a bit and spread out player acquisition over a long period of time instead of bunching it all into one short burst.

I understand where you are coming from on some levels. Our team lost 7 starters from last season to their own/friend's teams, and at least 5-6 backups. Even during the season, as with one of our two top level 14 DTs, John Merchandise.
What I disagree with is the responsibility of owning a team. You have more than just a responsibility to your players, but you have a responsibility to the league to maintain a competitive environment through the season. You played some good games, and you WERE going to be a tough game for me, now it shouldn't be so difficult with a bunch of level 1 CBs. My team now gets an unfair easy game against you guys while other top teams did not.
Finally, part of the enjoyment of ownership of a team is building a team, through trading and free agency, is the sense of accomplishment when you go to the forums and see your team discussing games, enjoying the game, and working hard to better their players and your (their) team. If you just fill your roster up with your own players, what's the point? No question it is difficult getting players. No question it is a LOT of work. But it's part of your responsibility.
I applaud you for trying to do what is right by your players. I feel you, and your players that couldn't wait until the offseason to be traded, have let the league down, however.

Most of the those players weren't going to resign prior to the season ending, it really wouldn't have changed the situation much. The fact is the "enjoyment" of signing free agents really doesn't exist for me. It's more like a chore. Having to constantly search for a decent player to fill a hole. Most of those players getting 50 offers and signing with someone else. It really wasn't anything enjoyable. We might suck for the rest of the year, however we could be just as good in the coming season or 2. Filling a roster for me with some of my own players lets me enjoy the tactical side of the game. Everyone has a reason to play this game, it doesn't have to always be the same reason. So for me this move is to make me competitive in the future with a team that I know will be constant. I have about 8 guys who have stated they wish to play and add their own players to the squad later. So just because we handicapped ourselves in the short term, it doesn't mean we can't rebuild.
