first year owner doesn't matter that much, it's more about how much effort and work you want to put into learning. Hell, I'm a first year owner this year, and first year OC, my brother is a first year DC. We've been learning on the job and did fairly well.

Just realize that next year will be different than this year...Bort will nerf with what worked this year, so don't feel bad if you struggle for the first couple games next year....gonna be interesting.
