This morning nfratami who was one of the original owners in this league - the Buddhas first zeta champions - retired from GLB. I guess the broken sim and getting victimised by the mods because he disagreed with the game direction finally took its toll. Anyway since some of you will remember him I thought Id best post this. Also hes an inaugural Hall of Famer.

YEp, saw that last night right before I passed out. It really is sad to see a guy like that, with all his players, to decide to call it quits. It really shows volume to where the state of the game is at, and where it should be. I think its easier for the little guy like me who only has 2 players to ride out this shit storm for obvious reasons.

Yeah, sad and all, but his post makes him sound a bit like a baby. I mean, boo hoo he lost a game. I've felt all season that the current sim is NOT BAD. Sure, the power back is a bit overbearing and the same with the Strong I play. There just not even as bad as it was, what, 2 seasons ago. My hope is that all the "sick of the game" retirements will result in a small amount of team contraction and subsequent huge leap in the sim.

I totally agree with you for the most part. But there is a point when you do cross the line and run 90 times and pass 0 times. I mean sure, if thats the only way you can win, then by all means do it. But really, if no one ran that play all season, it was really a douche move to do it in the playoffs. Id be upset if that was me as well, not to the point where I would quit. But there is no honor in winning the way that dude did.

I agree, I think the passing game is great where it is at, why they are talking about buffing it for next season is beyond me. I can understand tweaking certain areas of it, but giving it a giant buff means passing will be next seasons power back. I'm quite pleased with the direction of the game, my sole disappointment being the way they are changing the VAs next season as that won't solve the purported issues they are having.

Exactly. Nothing needs a "buff". The Strong I play needs to be fixed, sure, and powerbacks need to have the "fall forward" thing resolved. THATS IT! Okay, D-line needs to be able to penetrate a bit more efficiently, especially from the edge. Mostly the every play sim bits need to be strengthened. VAs don't need to be messed with, although if they just change the attribute modifiers from +1% to +.5%, I won't have a problem with it.

As far as a team going to "strong I right" 90% of the time in the playoffs without ever having done it before, kudos to them. They fooled everyone. The whole idea of football is to figure out what you do best and do it, all the while keeping your opponents guessing.

Bort announced today he was going to reduce the effectiveness of those somehow. I'm completely against changing them, but have lost the battle on it. I won't debate you over this, but am curious as to why you think it needs to be changed and what potential effects reducing this might have for the game in both positive and negative consequences?

I think he is primarily talking about bruiser. Bort that is. He also said he is going to diminish blocking. It has been OP since season 7. Hince everybody talking about how their DE's were nerfed, when really it was the blocking increase. I think he depowers CB's and then passing is OP just like Mob said.

Note, the strong I play is bull. I didn't know it was a bug/glitch and some other team did 100% against a team I help with, they are normally pass heavy, so I thought it was the best game plan ever. Then I did it the last game of season and was called ever fucking name in the book. I didn't know it was bug/glitch and I actually apologized for doing. The opposing owner still said what ever and so on. Knowing now that it was bug/glitch it feels well, cheap. Problem is that everybody that was here when we were here new what kinda of football we played, we ran, and ran, and ran. Then when you thought we wouldn't run any more, we ran it again. Now, we have done that for 6 season, and we are going to be fucked for doing it. Some one exploiting a play is going to fuck over power running teams. That is the problem with GLB. OVERREACTION.

i agree 100%,

every single nerf or change to the game since season 1 has been way tooo much. Instead of just tweaking it Bort flicks a switch and twists it as far as he can,

Hmm it looks like their un-nerfing LBs next season. Finally all that strength I pumped into Emp might pay off in blitzing....

I just hear everyone bitching that the att. modifier VAs give old vet players a big advantage. I don't necessarily agree, but I wouldn't care if the % increase was diminished. My thought, pretty much on EVERYTHING in GLB, is that everyone is equally affected by every aspect of the game. The sim works the same no matter who, what, or where you are. The best players and teams adapt. Sure, it needs to improve. But it's not horrible.

The only major problem I've had with the sim this season has been the caught deflections and receivers catching passes while (or whilst?) triple covered. That's been my only real bitch in S9.

dunno Emp.. i had my LBer beefed up with strength a few seasons back, and he was productive, but never stellar... I think str is just one of those attributes that people put too much weight into, for defenders at least...short of DTs, of course.
