Hey guys. In an effort to try and get this forum a little more active, what I want us to do is to try and come up with various awards that we can name players to for their outstanding performances in the various aspects of this game. This is hopefully going to be kind of a cool thing where people will get recognized for stuff maybe others didn't know they did. I would like us to deviate a little from the traditional ones if possible (i.e. best running back, most rushing yards, etc...) And instead focus on a few more obscure ones such as best coach/coordinator/GM or best backup QB etc. This is so that we can cover a wider variety of players overall. I will try to post the suggested awards in a big list on this first post here so that we can keep track of the various awards we can give away once playoffs are almost over (I am thinking the day before the championship game so that even teams that are moving up will be able to see them). Just post your ideas here and we will see what comes of them. We will probably have 2 separate ones for ALPHA and ZETA so that we can recognize the best within each conference and out of those 2 recognize the best in the whole league. It also makes it easier to decide if you have faced the player rather than just going off stats. (Voting stage will probably come later)

Awards Listings:

Offensive Awards:

Traditional Awards
Best QB
Best HB
Best FB
Best WR
Best TE
Best T
Best G
Best C
Best K
Best P
Best KR
Best PR
Most rushing yards
Most passing yards
Most pancakes
Most FG
Most XP

Non-traditional
Best backups (All positions)
Most underrated player (All positions)
Best dual threat

Defensive Awards

Traditional
Best DE
Best DT/NT
Best OLB
Best MLB
Best CB
Best FS
Best SS

Non-traditional
Best backups (All positions)
Most underrated players (all positions)
Best dual threat

Team Based Awards

Traditional
Best offense
Best defense
Best Special Teams
Team owner of the Year
GM of the Year
OC/DC of the year

Non-traditional
Most upsets
Best DB core
Best LB core
Best D-line core
Best O-line core
Best RB/FB combo
Best Receiving core

Finally one other section I would like to add to this is the plays of the year section. If you have a play that has happened that is truly deserving of play of the year (not some play where someone breaks 5 tackles against a terrible team and walks in for an 80 yard touchdown) then submit it as well and we can vote on the best play(s) of the year for the league.

PLAYS of the YEAR

Remember for this step, to post all yoru choices ON THIS FORUM! I don't want to get a bunch of messages in my inbox about this. When the voting happens, we will make it an anonymous vote where I will try to not only post the winner, but the runner up and the number of votes.

What about best dual threat? For players who play well more than one position?

The James Harrison award for the longest INT Ret TD
The USPS award for most KR+PR yards "We return all your mail!"
The big softie award for being pancaked the most times (or do they have to be positive awards?)
The Fly Killer award for most passes deflected

I am trying to stick away from absolute records so that it is something that can be debated/voted on instead of already decided.

This is a good idea. Kind of like the probowl voting we use to have. It should get more people active.

You should pm the all the owners with that list, see if they fill it out. As a player I only really know whats going on with my team or my position.

Yeah I am thinking of possibly doing that however, I kind of wanted it to be a little bit bigger than that though. I will probably announce how this will go down this weekend. What I am thinking is that for every award, instead of nominating 1 person, you nominate 3 and we do it kind of like how they do the hiesman voting with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place votes. 1st place would be worth 3, 2nd worth 2, and 3rd worth 1 vote. That way, it forces you to think outside of the number one or even number two player alone. Look for me to post something though in the next day or 2 on it as I want to get this out before the post-season really picks up.

I give you that. I can say mine had more tds?? I don't want to go back & forth on this cuz we could be here until Borts get this game right. I like to look at consistency from game in to game out. We could all argue agree that Chambersburg QB had a great year stats wise, but how did he do against the better teams in the league. From my perspective I would have to give Berlin's QB the nod.
