It should still be all good in Newport, though; Stary Oskol and the Red Dragons are worthy adversaries. You've only got one more sure loss on your schedule against the Arsenal, with some winnable games against the 'fugees and Velociraptors thrown in to add character before you hit the playoffs.

If this was the BCS, I'd complain that the Mates are behind the Butchers and Lions even though we beat them both.

The Velociraptors did not move up just to be seen ... targeting the #2 seed for the Alpha conference ... let's see if we can put together the game plans needed to overcome significant challengers in the final 3 weeks of the season.

Your SoS was 30 ? Dayum. That's a weird schedule. Then again, ours was at 3 two games ago.

He quoted the Bucks' score rather than the Butchers, but his sentiment stands... I think the 60-6 beat-down that the Hounds gave the Mates hurt you guys in terms of your quality of play, as well as the extra loss on your record (4 losses compared to those teams' 3). You've got a much softer schedule than the Lions though, so if they falter you can make up some ground and find your way in the top 8 to 10 of the league. However, if they win as many as 4 out of their last 5 they'll easily be seen as top 5 material... and the Mates can't top that. The Butchers have nearly an identical schedule to yours though, so they're nearly glued above you guys in the rankings; the outcome of your head-to-head match-up aside.

Talk about a wildcard, though, you win over the Butchers and Lions in close games, but lose rather handily to the Bucks and Hounds. Sounds like the San Diego Chargers; nobody wants to face you because they don't know what team'll show up.

I dont see how you think the butchers have a soft schedule...

Yeah, the SoS has to be creative, since it's not like the NFL... in GLB every team plays every other conference team once, with the only true difference in schedule being the one cross-conference game... so it's all about when in the schedule you play the tough teams. It's an accumulation of each of their opponent's most recent Power Ranking, as well as their winning percentage at the time they play the game... with the outcome of that particular game irrelevant.

The SoS then factors into each team's quality of play, and whether their victories mean anything, or whether they've just been facing cupcake teams. So it plays a vital part in the big picture, but has more effect early on in the season. This late into the season it's more about wins, overall offensive/defensive rankings, and the differential between what your team puts up in terms of yards and points, compared to what you allow.

To clarify my point, I meant that both teams have a softer remaining schedule than the Lions.

Remaining games for the Butchers:

Cypriot Freedom
WhatsaMatta U Fighting Elk
Mombasa Wombats
South City Chiefs
Prague Beersteins

The only difference between the Butchers and Mates is the Prague game, where instead Czechoslovakia plays the Secretville Offtopics. That schedule has only two teams with a winning record, and the other three are complete pushovers. In comparison, the Lions remaining schedule looks like this:

Jefferson City Bucks
Kazakhstan Dragons
Maladorous Football Beavers
Hill Valley Deloreans
Warsaw Wolfpack

Three teams with a winning record and a Warsaw team that should have been better than their record shows.
