Hello and welcome to this week's Power Rankings for Eastern Europe AA #4. This week we have quite a controversial set of rankings as we have a virtual tie in the #1 spot. With the Odessa Falcons going up against a London Head Hunters team on their own 8-game winning streak, the Falcons proved that they were a force to be reckoned with in AA4 as they sent the London team home headless. How far will they fall after giving up a heartbreaker in front of the rabid Falcon fanbase? And another team cracks into the top ten as we get close to crunch time and the final weeks leading up to AA4's first ever playoffs.

My Power Rankings rely heavily on recent history to determine where you stand. A good record is also paramount but there might even be a bit of a disparity between teams with similar records depending on how tough their recent opponents have been.

So, without further ado:

The Top Ten

1. Krakow Cows (10-0) & Odessa Falcons (10-0) Last Week (LW): #1 & #2
There is now a mathematical tie in 1st place after Odessa's huge win against the London Head Hunters. The Cows continued to prove their dominance but doing so against a weaker team dropped them enough points in the rankings to allow for this to happen. Odessa has a game this week against the winless Sydney Tire Irons while Krakow matches up against the Charleston Roadwarriors, a team that merely managed a tie against a team similar to them in the rankings. Expect both to be 11-0 come next rankings release.

3. Tricity Hares (10-0) LW: #3
The Hares hold on to their #3 spot as expected. This week they go up against the Grodno Buckaroos, who dropped two straight against teams in the top 10 before recovering against the Tire Irons. One would expect the Hares to pull out another win, but as the saying goes, "Any Given Sunday..."

4. Warsaw Warriors (9-1) LW: #5
A win this week as well as a loss by the Head Hunters moves the Warriors up a notch to the #4 spot in this week's Power Rankings. The Warriors schedule continues with a game against 2-8 St. Petersburg Storm, a game they should easily win.

5. Dallas Smoke Stacks (8-2) LW: #6
The Smoke Stacks continue to rise in the rankings, stretching their current unbeaten streak to 7 and breaking into the top 5 of the Power Rankings. They face off this week against the Baker Mountain Bucks, who have dropped three straight after starting off the season 7-0.

6. London Head Hunters (8-2) LW: #4
The Head Hunters fall two spots after their loss against co-#1 team, the Odessa Falcons. Their next two games are against teams with a losing record so expect them to bounce back easily before thei May 20th contest against the Warsaw Warriors.

7. Minsk Ninjas (8-2) LW: #7
The Ninjas hold on to their #7 spot this week after a 71-0 blowout over the winless Warsaw Cossacks. They face the London Dolphins this week and hope to continue their rebound from their week 8 loss against the Dallas Smoke Stacks.

8. Fehervar Enthroners (7-3) LW: #10
The Enthroners continue to rise in the Power Rankings, with this week marking the 3rd in a row, in accordance with their current 3-game winning streak which started after dropping two straight against teams that are currently struggling. They look to continue this trend as they go up against Alpha Conference's local punching bag, the Warsaw Cossacks.

9. Baker Mountain Bucks (7-3) LW: #8
As if last week's slide in the rankings didn't fortell, the Bucks are now a team on notice. Three losses in a row have put them in a spot where if they don't rebound, and rebound fast, they might find themselves out of the race for the Championship. Things do not get any easier this week as they go up against the Dallas Smoke Stacks.

10. Tallaght Outlaws (6-4) LW: #12
The Outlaws break into the top 10 for the first time thanks in large part to the International Players dropping their second straight, though the Outlaws have definitely helped their own case after being 3-1 in their last 4. This week's contest against the Moscow Bears, who were in the top ten last week, should be a good one as both teams look to prove that they belong in this section of the Power Rankings.

Holding on to a Playoff Spot
11. Moscow Bears
12. Grodno Buckaroos
13. International Players
14. Haquenau Coyotes
15. Volgograd Berserks
16. C-Town Hoodlums

17. Carluke Cobras
18. Bratislava Vampires
19. Prague Panthers
20. London Dolphins
21. Belgium Warthogs
22. France Fire

Need Improving

24. Charleston Roadwarriors
25. Leicester Lynxes
26. Florida Buccaneers
27. Subotica Scorpions
28. St. Petersberg Storm

i really enjoy reading this power rankings, great work. i was looking forward all day (not just because we are on top )

We had 2 "close" games. we had a much better gameplan against the headhunters, but im still not satisfied with our settings. its only the second time this season we really needed it. im already looking forward to the next big clash, 2 (hopefully) undefeated teams, again

IMO, you should be heavily weighting the more recent data and applying a lower weight to the games at the beginning of the season.

The reason being, change is rapid and some teams look nothing like they did in the beginning. Thus the rank will have a lower prediction ability than it otherwise could.

Case in point = Moscow Vandals beat International Players (your #10 team last week) but end up in spot #29. The Vandals actually dropped in rank (IIRC). That makes no sense.

You're mistaken. Vandals LOST their week 10 matchup against the London Dolphins. I haven't done anything in regards to week 11 so telling me my rankings aren't right is a bit premature.

Also, the only thing outside of the most recent 4 games that is calculated is wins and losses. That's it. Everything else is handled with reference to the last 4 games. Which, btw, in regards to the week 10 rankings, the Vandals were a woeful 1-3.
