Figured I'd put my two cents in for this week. Since we don't have someone doing these consistently every week, maybe we can rotate through a few guys. I based my rankings more based on the 6 games that have been played than who I think is the better team - I mostly took common opponents and head-to-head matchups into consideration.
1. DC Squashers (6-0) - Top team on paper and in the field so far this season, will land in this spot until someone can knock them off.
2. 300 Spartans (6-0) - The other undefeated team looked very vulnerable against USSR, this week against DC and week 9 against Ares will tell us where they stand in this conference. Their DE duo makes them a very difficult team to gameplan for.
3. Ares Assassins (5-1) - Defeated the top team from Zeta, lost close to the top team from Alpha, and have crushed everyone else. This is a very dangerous football team that in my opinion has the best chance to pull an upset on DC in the playoffs.
4. Black Sea Storm (4-2) - Playing better than .500 football like they said they wanted to, the win over Bucharest last week puts them here.
5. Bucharest Warriors (5-1) - Strong early season but played a light schedule, will be interesting to see how they compare against Romania and Ares the next two weeks.
6. Romania Rampage (4-2) - A very difficult team to gauge - have lost to two better teams and won when they should have. This week's game against Bucharest will tell us a lot.
7. USSR Red Terror (3-3) - Just like last year - they beat everyone they should beat and lose to everyone they shouldn't beat. They allowed an upset win this week to slip through their fingers against 300, and we'll see how good they really are when they start playing middle of the pack teams in the coming weeks.
8. Murmansk Shock Therapy (2-4) - There's a lot of parity between 8-12, but they're my pick for the 8th team. Played tough against Odessa and USSR, and beat a KGB team that should have beat them on paper. It's too early to tell, but this team is my favorite for the #8 seed in the conference.
9. KGB Assassins (2-4) - On paper they're one of the top teams in this conference, but their low team chemistry has really hurt them as they've lost a game or two that they should have won already. Will most likely go 2-6 in the next two weeks, and will have to play better to make the playoffs. If they can manage their way in the playoffs they'll be a very dangerous lower seed.
10. The Regulators (2-4) - Their win over Slovakia last week puts them here, as well as they're decent performance against 300. This is another very dangerous team that I feel will get better and better as the weeks go on.
11. Slovakia Stunners (3-3) - I may wind up eating these words in two weeks, but they deserve to be here because of their loss to the Regulators and because they haven't beaten any decent opponent yet. The next two weeks are crucial for them, and with at least one win they'll give themselves an inside track to the playoffs.
12. Budapest Exterminators (2-4) - Another team I may wind up regretting, but they also have not beaten a decent opponent yet and have been crushed by the Regulators. They have the meat of their schedule over the next 6 weeks, and with a .500 record they should still be in playoff contention.
13. Lascaux Artisans (2-4) - After boosting early and dominating the regular season last year, this team is a level or two behind the rest of the former BBB's and showing it. They seem to be waiting to boost until the end of the season, and they should be a contender again in season 9. Interestingly enough, level 23 Weirdly Gruesome is still one of the best ends in this league and has recorded a sack or more in all but one game this year.
14. Rome's Fighting Gladiator's (1-5) - More than half of the team is level 15 or lower, should be a contender in a few years but isn't ready yet.
15. Hungarian Thunder Hogs (1-5) - Has a lot of talent but a lot of inactives and cpu's. They may be more dangerous in a week or two if they can fill out their roster soon, but it may be too late to prevent demotion.
16. Berlin Wallz (0-6) - Maybe next year in BBB.
