1. Jax Beach v. Houston A. - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1482&team2=1485
- the #1 seed in the conference takes on a struggling Houston team. Jax Beach has an excellent pass defense, Houston relies a lot on the pass for their offense. In fact, their QB Korean Cannon is leading the league in yards and touchdowns. Houston's offense is pretty good, but Jax Beach is too well rounded to go down. Houston is 0-3 against non-CPU opponents and although they've lost some close games, I don't suspect they'll be able to move the ball as effectively against Jax's defense.
Prediction: JAX BEACH
2. River City Ransom v. Texas Tar Heels - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1497&team2=1467
- Probably the game of the week. I thought before the season that Texas had one of the most complete rosters in the league, not just the conference. Fortunately for River City, they have excellent talent from top to bottom as well and sport some of the highest leveled players in A#4. I was surprised to see Texas go down last week to Fulton County. I hate being so simplistic, but given that River City blew out Fulton County and Texas lost to Fulton County, I would be hard pressed to bet against River City here barring some sort of change to Texas' AI. That being said, statistically, both teams are nearly identical. They lean pass heavy, have very similar pass defenses, and have had success stopping the run. One thing that works in Texas' favor is that River City is a little bit more one dimensional, so they might have an easier time gameplanning for and stopping River City's offense, but given Fulton County's success in the passing game last game, I have to give the nod to River City.
Prediction: RIVER CITY
3. Fulton County v. Atlanta - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=366&team2=1143
- Fulton County has had maybe the toughest schedule in the conference so far, going against a 4-0 team, two 3-1 teams, and a 2-2 team. They've managed a 3-1 record thus far, losing only to undefeated River City. Atlanta has been less than impressive, but is afloat with a 2-2 record thus far. The question here is which team can muster up enough offense to win. Both teams have good run defenses, but Atlanta gives up over 300 yards through the air per game on a consistent basis. Given that Fulton County has done it vs. better opponents and seems to have the more well rounded defense, I think they'll take this one. It doesn't hurt that their roster looks considerably better as well.
Prediction: FULTON COUNTY
4. Key Biscayne v. Teikoku - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=893&team2=1518
- Won't predict this one but it's interesting to note that the two top rushers in the league right now are going head to head. Will be interesting to see how the loser performs in that category.
5. Bronx v. Alamo City - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1529&team2=1488
- I don't have too much to say on this one, I think Bronx should have an easy win here. I just don't think Alamo City has the roster right now to compete with the average A#4 team and as the season progresses I suspect they'll find a home nestled in the bottom tier of the conference. Bronx wins relatively easily.
Prediction: BRONX
6. Cuba v. Camp David - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=899&team2=91
- Camp David is clearly a slow build team that hasn't decided to turn the corner yet. Until that happens, they're pretty much worthless. Not much else to say here.
Prediction: CUBA
7. Port Moody v. Florida - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1528&team2=1521
- Couple of 2-2 teams going at it to gain some early ground on a top 8 spot. I think Florida has the better roster although I do see some holes that will need to be addressed in the future. Florida has also had slightly better success against better teams, and has less trouble on defense, especially against the pass. While Port Moody has had success running the ball, their stats have been skewed by playing against Tupelo and therefore you have to take their 2-2 record and stats with a grain of salt. Meanwhile, Florida has lost 2 games by a combined 6 points, so they really could just as easily have been 4-0 if a couple bounces had gone their way.
Prediction: FLORIDA
8. Lincoln v.Tupelo - http://goallineblitz.com/game/compare_teams.pl?team1=1487&team2=496
- Will Lincoln get to the 200 point mark in this game? Shrug
Prediction: LINCOLN
