There are still lots of uncertainties in the East, but we had a couple of good matchups today as teams are jockeying for their place in the standings. The Jakes managed to keep the Wolverines in check while the Hitmen made a statement against the newly promoted Chicago Six.
(Rankings are based on conference standings, which I know means jack dick right now. I just went down the list and looked at everyone so it was easiest to do it in that order)
The Lions are sitting atop the standings right now due to an early season schedule that lacks in the entertainment department. The Stompers, coming in at 7th, laid the wood the Nighthawks tonight after starting with a tough loss to a reinvigorated Victoria Fish team. This one could be an interesting matchup, as the Lions look to continue their successful close to last season while the Stompers are trying to make a 180 from last year and be a true contender. I actually like the Stompers in this one, sorry Bender. They've got what appears to be an impressive passing attack and were able to hold the Fish's run game in check. If Nova Scotia cannot establish their will via the run game, this one could be another big win for the Stompers. Prediction: SCS 21- 17
Another big game in determining the landscape takes place between the number 2 Joilette Jakes as they face off against the resurgent #3 Hitmen. The Jakes are used to success coming off of an incredible run in BBB #10. The Hitmen probably didn't reach their full potential last season and are also looking to become a factor. I still like the Jakes though as they are still the favorite to take the East. Prediction: Jakes 34-24
Yawn. Thanks for showing up, Port Dover. 255-0 for the Panthers. Enjoy your ice bath after the ALOD game..
Another game between two teams with high expectations, the #5 College 6 Year Plan are led into battle behind their new fearless leader, BleedsOrangeandBlue to square off vs the Thunder Bay Wolverines. Both teams have had tough losses to the two arguable favorites in the league and are looking to getting their season back on the right track. Thunder Bay has an efficient passing attack led by Quarterback Brian Driller. He goes up against last season's #1 Pass Defense in 6YP's mascot secondary. This one will probably be a close game. Prediction: I'm not betting against my team, but not giving the Wolverines any bulletin board material. Here's to a good game Thunder Bay.
An interesting matchup between the Vancouver Vipers and the Ottawa Storm Troopers. Both teams are having lackluster seasons to date and could really use the win. I don't know how much of a shot either team has of being a force in the league, but I like Vancouver in this one. Ottawa seems to have fallen on a tough run of luck after their early promotion out of BBB#10. Prediction: Vipers 31-21
The Chicago Six are looking to rebound against another recently woodshedded team in the Might Moncton Nighthawks. I'm surprised in both of these team's performance this far into the season. I'll take the Six in this one, as they need it if they are going to prove themselves deserving of being here. Prediction: Six 42-28 against what looks to be a porous MMN defense.
Versailles vs the Copperheads...I guess Versailles. I always dreaded playing them in BBB but they seem to have the tendency to underperform. The Copperheads are yet to win a significant game this season. Who wants it less? Prediction: Versailles 38-24
And the Rum Runners get the SCIM cpu homos this week. Have fun. 255-3
I'm just killing some time before work. This isn't meant to piss anyone off and is really just based off of my knowledge of the teams that we had in the league last year, the guys I played in BBB, and how I thought guys were going to do in the preseason. Take it for what it's worth, and that's just for fun.
