Well, season 8 has begun!!! It hasnt come without its bumps and bruises (cough cough "Severgate"... cough the VA/SP hack... cough cough endorsement fock up.. cough) but finally its here. Btw, this really speaks volumes as to how addicted we all are to this game that we continue to play despite all the BS that has gone down.

To get down to business, I dont think it is any surprise to announce that West Scranton is officially the THE team to beat. With the departures of routinely high ranked Tonga Ikale Tahi, Melbourne Thorny Devils and Papua New Guinea Cannibals, the only major surprise is the Brisbane Sun Devils (formerly the Heat) dropping out of the top 10 for the first time since the inception of the Coaches Poll, despite beefing up over the offseason. Maybe some of that Thorny Devel radar elusiveness has rubbed off on them... . And finally, new comers Kingston, Osaka, Tasmania, and Nuku'alofa appear to be in the back of everyones mind and are expected to makes some noise on the field (despite one of them making some off the field... ).

Anyways without further delay...

Preseason Top Ten
1. West Scranton Invaders 479 (14)
2. So Cal BDC 461
3. Orlando Prime Timers 424
4. Mean Machine 417
5. Banzai Pipeline 'Nites 407 (1)
6. Cascade Cajun Crushers 389
7. Playboy's Players Club 358
8. Samoa Gangsters 357
9. Cook Island Convicts 348
10. Matu-Utu Voodoo 331

All The Rest
Brisbane Sun Devils 308, Fakaofo Bomb Squad 269, Kingston Uprising 241.5, Osaka Buckeyes 236.5, Brisbane Gods 231.5, Tasmania Tigers 230.5, Nuku'alofa Bad Mofa's 220.5, Sth Queensland Crushers 194.5, Canberra Strike 175.5, Wellington Assassins 173.5, Brisbane Bandits 173.5, Jersey Wildcats 170.5, Brantford Mustangs 165.5, GERMAN WILDDOGS 159.5, Portland Rain 150.5, Tortuga Privateers 139.5, Aussie Cardinals 133.5, Fiji Stingers 128.5, Palau Pride 126.5,, Tasmania Devils 123.5, Fiji Sea Turtles 106.5, Firmament Mystic Prophets 100.5

Dropped From The Top 10
-none-

Fifteen teams participated this week.
() denotes first places votes

Fun Facts: Brisbane "Heat" Sun Devils were the very first team to receive the #1 ranking in OPL Coaches Poll history... only West Scranton and Banzai (formerly FFLivewire) have managed to remain in the top 10 since its inception, week 12 of season 4

I awarded a first place vote with 32 points, 2nd with 31, and so on down the line. In the event of a tie an average of the scores is awarded (ie. tie for 2nd between two teams results in a 30.5 for both).

Thanks to all those who voted this week!!!

I know I underranked most of the new teams, and I blame the flu I had at the time I did the rankings.

Thanks again for doing this Beenlurken.

Thanks for doing this. I wish I would have been able to get a ballot in for us, but unfortunately I'm too busy getting support to get off of their asses and do their job.

I hope the Devils prove the voters wrong (3rd worst in OPRO).

The new guys are definitely under-ranked as a group. You know at least a couple of them are going to wind up as top 10 material. I expect to see huge changes in a week.

Wow Gods at 15 is very surprising for me. I think we'll make some noise and get back to .500, but hey we're honored.
