Bratislava vs Secretville: A terrible rumor has surfaced regarding the Offtopics championship victory over the previously undefeated Butchers. I have heard through the grapevine that Secretville hired a ringer who manipulated time and space in order to allow Bullrush Nomark to get through Bratislava's defense without difficulty in overtime. Sad but true, it seems that the Offtopics hired Doctor Who to win the game for them. For shame. In all seriousness, Secretville played a hell of a game. They stared at game film for hours until they found a weakness in the Butchers' defense that they could exploit, and it worked for them. The game was truly exciting to watch, with both teams having a hard time moving the ball up and down the field, but finding enough intermittent success to keep the game close. A huge three and out in the fourth quarter cost the Butchers dearly when Secretville found success with both the cornerback blitz and with monster DE Frederick Voltaire, sacking QB Kaiser Wilhelm II three times in a row. Bratislava had an opportunity late in the fourth quarter, having driven all the way to the Secretville 27 yard line when the AI cost them the win by running the ball on third and 2 with 42 seconds left instead of kicking the game winning field goal. The run gave the Butchers a first down, but with no timeouts remaining, they couldn't get the kicking team on the field before time ran out, sending the game into overtime where Bullrush Nomark and the Offtopics new OC ran through the Butchers to score a touchdown and win the game. Congratulations to the Secretville Offtopics, the EEA4 Zeta Conference champions. Good luck in the League Championship.
Warsaw vs Vilnius: It is official, the Velociraptors no longer have a chemistry problem. Vilnius and Warsaw each came into the game with a similar plan, to run the ball well and force the other team's defense to stop them. Warsaw started out strong, picking up 14 first quarter points while holding the Raptors to a field goal, but Vilnius picked themselves up and relied on the strong legs of their halfbacks to get them down the field and pick up points, sending the game into the half with the teams only separated by one point. The Raptors took control in the third, scoring on three consecutive possessions while holding Warsaw to three and out possessions. With the game getting away from them, Warsaw picked up some steam and pushed down the field for another touchdown, only to be answered back with another Vilnius score. Vilnius had the game in hand, but a late interception leading to a touchdown almost let Warsaw back into the game. Time wasn't on the Gods' side, however, and Vilnius ran the clock out to preserve the victory. Congratulations to Alpha Conference champion Vilnius Velociraptors, good luck in the league championship.
The League Championship game should be an exciting matchup between the best of both conferences. I have to admit that I am pulling for Secretville to win it all. Gotta pull for the conference homies, sorry.
