THE TOP TEN
1. USA Vacationers (8-0), 57.58
The Vacationers, yet again, remain the only undefeated team in the league. They seem to have regained some of their swagger in the 27-3 win over the Spetsnaz. After allowing 23 points to the Thunderbirds last game, holding the Spetsnaz to a field goal will be a big confidence booster going into the next game. Next game: Away at Berlin Hounds from Hell (6-2)
2. Dubrovnik Destroyers (7-1), 52.23
The Destroyers seemed to be well rested after running all over the field and scoring 94 against the Fighting Green Hornets in their last game. This week against the Lizards wasn’t nearly as spectacular but you have to credit the Lizards’ defense for that. Next game: Away at Balkan Anarchy (2-6)
3. MCXA Cybernationists (7-1), 47.51
Nothing seems to be slowing down the Cybernationist. Their game against the Vultures wasn’t necessarily spectacular, but they continue to win. The Cybernationists play the Red Elephant Club next and we’ll see if hearing Lynard Skynard’s “Sweet Home Alabama” over and over will have any effect on them. Next game: Home vs Mobile Red Elephant Club (3-5)
4. Moscow Communists (7-1), 40.13
In the Communists last game they destroyed the Anarchy 52-0. I thought the Destroyers would be a little suspect because of their blow-out but it turned out to be the Communists. In one of the better games of the week, the Communists weren’t able to put together much, offensively, until the 4th quarter. It was a field goal with 1:46 left in the game that finally gave the Communists the edge in a 10-9 victory. Red Elephant Club K Bo Bidstrup should be kicking himself for the missed PAT that ended up being the deciding factor. Hope the Communists drink some Brawndo before their next game because it should be a good one. Next game: Home vs Tallinn Dream (6-2)
5. Dogdandy Dragons (7-1), 39.58
The Dragons had their best defensive showing of the year against the Stunners in a 35-0 win. The Dragons were looking to show that they could put away a team by more than a handful of points after their last couple of games against tougher opponents. They did just that and showed why they are one of the top teams in the league. Next game: Home vs KGB All-Stars (4-4)
6. Moscow Massacre (6-2), 39.46
It was mentioned last week about how the Massacre’s play against the Pessoa Boobs might be a sight of things to come. Well, we didn’t have to wait long before Massacre put on another great show, but this time it didn’t end in their favor. A great game with an exciting 4th quarter saw the Bocks put away the (currently) second best team from Moscow. The Massacre definitely have the resources to turn this slump around but if they don’t it could spell disaster. Next game: Home vs Fox News (5-3)
7. Tenerife Thunderbirds (6-2), 36.52
After a first game hiccup, the Thunderbirds seemed to be rolling long until they ran into the Vacationers in their last game. A game that was so close that they could smell the win. After that demoralizing loss the Thunderbirds had to turn around and face the very tough LeatherWrecks. While the Thunderbirds let the opening drive of the game go for a touchdown, and never made it to pay dirt, they rode the leg of their K Ben Schnee to a victory. Next game: Home vs Vaadwaur Phoenix (5-3)
8. Berlin Hounds from Hell (6-2), 36.31
It seems like the Warriors kept expecting jab when the Hounds were throwing a hook. Then as soon as the Warriors started to expect hook, the Hounds went southpaw on them. The Hounds from Hell won convincingly, 48-3. Their next game might not be so easy. Next game: Home vs USA Vacationers (8-0)
9. Fox News (5-3), 34.32
Wait? The overly conservative-biased news program has made it into the top 10? Well, Fox News put up a very impressive 56 points against the black heads and it wouldn’t be the power rankings without…well, power. Their game next week should be a better barometer of whether or not Fox News belong in the top 10 or not. Next game: Away at Moscow Massacre (6-2)
10. Tallinn Dream (6-2), 32.12
Yet again, rounding out the top 10 are the Tallinn Dream. As expected, the Dream did not stumble this week against the Anarchy. Tallinn Dream has a chance to prove the neigh-sayers with a tough game in their next matchup. Next game: Away at Moscow Communists (7-1)
