I have had success with the building of a new laptop to keep my GLB addiction going. Sorry again for the delay. Without further ado, the recaps and previews:

Alpha Conference:

Warsaw vs P-burg: Warsaw had no problem staying at the top of the leaderboard, defeating Sioux City handily. P-burg was unable to make any headway against Vilnius, and will not have any better luck against the GoW. The Gods of War will lock up first place against their next two opponents, taking home field throughout the conference championship.

Tallinn vs Saratov: The Nightmare wiped up the field with Skopje, and must take on the Blaze before facing Portland in the final game of the season. After an easy win against Bayside, Saratov faces Tallinn in a must win situation that still leaves little hope of advancing to the playoffs. Having been defeated by P-burg, even an impressive win against the Nightmare would not break them into the top eight.

Vorkuta vs St. Petersburg: Last week's game of the week featured Vorkuta going up against Portland in an intense battle for playoff position. The game literally went down to the wire, and thanks to some unusual timeouts from the Niners at the end of the game, Vorkuta was able to post an impressive fourth quarter comeback to take it to overtime and win it with a field goal. The win dropped Portland to sixth place, making it very difficult for them to move up in the final two weeks. Vorkuta will have no trouble holding on to their spot this week against the Piranhas, with only second seeded Vilnius remaining on the schedule.

Portland vs Bayside: The Tigers will lie down for Portland before the Niners face the tough Tallinn Nightmare. The Niners will want a Vilnius win against the Ironmen to help them move up the ladder.

Pecs of Steel vs Sioux City: The Pecs looked super against the Rebels, and will have no trouble doing so again at Sioux City before taking on the number one GoW at home for the final game of the season. They stay firmly locked in at number seven.

Warsaw Stampede vs Skopje: The Stampede knocked out the Pushers as expected, and will do the same against the lowly Kardinals, although from the look of their roster they can expect to lose a slew of players whose contracts are expiring. Their success in this game will depend entirely on who actually plays.

Yugoslavian vs Black Sea: Another bottom of the conference snooze game with no implications for anyone, the Pushers should actually be able to pull off a win this time.

Alpha Game of the Week - Vilnius vs Stalingrad: The number two seed will be decided in this game, with Vilnius coming off of an easy win against the Players and Stalingrad having had no problems with the Piranhas. The Raptors travel to Stalingrad for this game, and the Ironmen will be ready for them. The two teams are very closely matched, with Vilnius having the edge in several categories. A game this close can only be decided by intangibles, such as chemistry, home field, and gameplan. Stalingrad will edge out the Raptors after a close and exciting game.

Unfortunately, I am out of time, as I have to go to work shortly. I will return this evening to finish out the Zeta Conference portion of the preview/recap, with a look at the big matchup between South City and Secretville. Stay tuned.

Okay I'm back and ready to finish the day's recaps and previews. In regards to any disrespect towards Zeta, the truth is that I didn't want to just burn through the good conference's games, but to take my time and ensure that Zeta's preview is done well.

Zeta Conference:

Bratislava vs Nizhny: As expected, the Butchers continued their perfect season by soundly defeating the Wolfpack. Bratislava's defense shut the Wolfpack down for most of the first half, until late in the second quarter when Warsaw finally made some progress and brought the game to 10-7 at halftime. Warsaw came out in the third quarter and immediately took their only lead of the game, scoring on their first possession of the quarter. Bratislava stuck with their gameplan, relying on the powerful legs of their two monster running backs, with Elminhelm Randoake scoring on two long touchdown runs. After being burned by Warsaw to end the first half and to start the second, the Butchers' D tightened up again, preventing the Wolfpack from picking up another score, and picking off QB Rik Striker at the end of the game for a touchdown to wrap it up. Poor Nizhny has the dubious honor of being next on the Butchers' list of resounding victories. They won't want to show up for this game.

Dresden vs Southeast: The Doomsday have been one of the big surprises of the season, currently at 10-4 and in fourth place. After easily beating the Mariners, Dresden faces two more bottom of the conference teams, and will finish the season at 12-4. While they have been overlooked by most teams all season long, no one will be overlooking them come playoff time.

Warsaw vs Sooner: The Wolfpack will be looking to take out some frustrations against the Syndicate. Sooner has to play well above the norm to have a hope of winning this game. The Syndicate should be well rested after trouncing Edinburgh, but it won't be enough to overcome Warsaw this week or Bratislava the next.

Italy vs Edinburgh: Italy's defense must have been very pissed off about the Dresden game, pitching a shutout against the 11th place Gargoyles. They will have another opportunity to beat up on a lesser opponent this week against the War-Pipers, but they will have to play their best game of the season to defeat Warsaw in the final week. The loss to Dresden will keep them out of the top four and on the road for the playoffs.

Berlin vs Dayton: The Crusaders played a tough game against South City, but didn't have enough to stop the Chiefs from putting up big numbers. Two easy wins to finish out the season will help them jump the Syndicate and get back into seventh place.

Chernobyl vs Gateshead: These two 5-9 teams are both coming off of major losses and fighting for nothing but pride this week. The Mariners don't have much defense to speak of, which will cost them against the slightly better Gargoyles. Gateshead should win the "wait til next year!" battle.

Sicilia vs Gothenburg: Sicilia unexpectedly posted their first win against Dayton this week, despite being numerical underdogs. The Flames have still not won a game, and I doubt they will be able to do it this week either. If they don't want to end up like the Lions this year, they will have to do it against the Warriors, because Berlin will take no pity on them in the final week. Having your punter listed as one of your top player threats is probably indicative of something, and it ain't good.

Zeta Conference Game of the Week - South City vs Secretville: Secretville also had a very pissed off defense this week, shutting out the Vetz by a huge margin, while South City posted an impressive win against a good Berlin team. These two teams have two of the best running backs in the conference, and superb passing games to compliment them. This could be a shootout, with both teams looking to prove they are better than the other. Each of these teams' only loss is to the top-seeded Butchers, but only one of them can maintain that one loss standing. These teams are so evenly matched that even their victories over common opponents look the same, with similar scoring margins. This game may be too close to call, but I am going to call it for the Chiefs based on slightly stronger depth. When the second string gets playing time, it will be South City that has the advantage.

So there's the second half of this week's recap and preview. I have the day off tomorrow, so I should be able to post the Week 15 recap in a more timely manner. Only two more games until playoff fun time begins!

Why Will, I didn't know you were that way inclined.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
