I will be rooting for the Cards because I like the underdog but I believe the Steelers will win it by 14+

IMO Vegas is going to make a lot of money off of people thinking that the Cards will stay in this game. Pittsburgh by 14+ I think.

That said, I'm cheering for Kurt Warner and hope I'm wrong on this.

as Boomer says

"the steelers will not win this game unless they find a way to stop the best wide receiver in the National Football League"

and i dont think they can. look at it like this. Steelers rely on their Run Defense way more then their pass defense to win games. now you can say, well they shut down the passing game of their first 2 opponents..... well lets look into this some more.....

San Diego Chargers- Rely on their Run Game so that their pass game can be efficient.... LT was hurt, sproles didnt get the job done, Steelers shut down the chargers

Baltimore Ravens- Joe Flaccos a rookie, so of course they need to get the run game going before he can start making sucessful passes. Run game fails, Flacco fails, Ravens lose

Arizona Cardinals- Pass heavy team, is vice versa of the other 2, uses their passing game to step up their run game

lets look at the steelers losses over the regular season

Philly september 21st- Brian Westbrook was about 40% good to go, so they passed the ball, worked out well for them, they got to the red zone many many times, and got many field goals, ended up winning 15-6

Giants Octobers 26th- Giants at this time in the season were a little bit pass heavy, this was before they discovered Earth, Wind, and Fire. ended up winning 21-14

Colts November 9th- Do i even have to say anything about this one? of course the colts are a passing team...

Titans December 21st- the one team that actually ran on the steelers and was sucessfull doing so. showing it is possible to run on this team.

Cardinals win by 4.

I'll allow everything in this post save for the comments on the Giants loss. The offense always went through Jacobs and Ward(with a fresh Bradshaw later in the game) from game 1. Difference was they had Plax to keep the defenses honest and not just load up against the run.

My opinion is that the Cards will win. I'm not a fan of either but I'd lean towards the Steelers if I had to pick a team to route for. I think the Steelers have their hands full. I agree with most of what Ryan said. There's also a couple points that I haven't heard much talk of though. Ken Whisenhut. The guy had been with the team for 6 or 7 years (first a TE coach then became OC). He left in 07 to be the HC of the Cards. He's been to the dance in 05 as well (with the Steelers). He knows Ben Roth. very well. He knows his strong points and has a better insight than most (outside the Burg's organization) on his weak points. Then throw in all the other players he was around as well. Ken probably knows Dick Lebeau pretty well also but that can go either way.

My other thought is that if Pitt doesn't get home when they blitz they're gonna eat it........ bad. If they back off Cards can draw and delay handoffs all day. Thats not Steelers ball though. They're gonna blitz. They wanna shake the old man Kurt up and get him thinkin about the pressure. They have to get to him though b/c like I said if they don't the Cards are gonna make them pay.

Here's how I think the Cards game plan will go: I think they start off with a balanced attack. They'll use draw/delay runs up the middle on downs where they think Burg's gonna overload a side which will leave the gut open as the rush comes from the outside. Or they'll start dinkin' and dunkin' on the side the blitzes come from or anywhere they see a soft spot in coverage. Until they get they're timing down and in a rhythm. I think they'll take a shot or 2 down field (I'm not talkin 60 yard bombs, I'm talkin 20+ yd posts/skinny posts kind of passes) against the blitz to open the Steelers eyes and put them on their heels and confuse them. I don't see them making this a shootout. I see more ball control with very long, drives and trying to keep that steelers D on the field and wear them out by using they're aggressiveness against them. I think that's gonna be they're main focus. Don't get me wrong though. Kurt will definitely take his shots down range if he see's the opportunity.

prediction is 28-27 Cards win

Steelers are the overall better team, but so were the Pats last year.

Cardinals - 24
Steelers - 20
