Doinitin Djibouti Look Legionnaires In The "Eye" And Fold
The Lake Opeta Legionnaires played host to the upstart Doinitin Djibouti at Legionnaire Field today in one of the most anticipated match ups in African Pro League play in Season 7. And true to their battle-tested grit born from three consecutive APL Championships, LOL did not disappoint the sell out crowd as they emphatically dispatched of the Djibouti by a score of 52-17. "With this victory, we are in the driver's seat for the Elephant Conference Championship" said LOL owner Hokiemon. "This team was all mouth and no muscle. The real test is our trip to The Dusty Trail next week against The Last Gunfighters of Texas."
The force was strong with the Legionnaires yet again, as HB Jedi Knight continued his run at GLB immortality, racking up 204 yards and 3 TD's on 21 carries, 20 of which he was able to yet again break tackles and demoralize the opposing defense. And in this game, Knight recorded his 100th touchdown for Season 7. "I am thankful for the job my offensive line does for me game in and game out as they help me reach levels never seen in GLB before" said Knight. "Rather than get into a pissing match with the immature Djibouti players, we just do our job on the field and silence the critics."
But all-world WR Eye "The Gift" Catchdaball brought a different perspective, and different weapon to this game. "I told them before, during and after the game that they couldn't handle me" said Eye. "And when it came time to deliver, I stepped up and they faded like a cheap suit in a rare African downpour." QB 3 Poch had another stellar game in the pocket tossing 3 TD's while throwing no INT's in route to a 151.1 QB rating on the season. And knowing he had a weapon like Eye in his arsenal, 3 Poch hit him twice for TD's including a 71 yard strike early in the second quarter that slammed the door shut on any comeback attempt by the Djibouti. "Eye averaged over 17 yards after the catch this game and that proved key to wearing their secondary down early" said 3 Poch.
On the defensive side of the ball, DT John Reis and DE Geoff Creeden had 2 sacks each that kept the Djibouti QB in check, and prevented him from mounting any meaningful drives. "We really wanted to stick it to these mouths" said LB Max Doogin who led the defense with 8 tackles and a PD. "From day one this team came in declaring themselves the champs and disrespecting the established teams in this league" said Doogin. "Putting them in their place was the right thing to do." GM buffalobills_tw agreed with that assessment and noted that the scouting for this game was the best of the season.
The Legionnaires travel next to The Dusty Trail to face their newest and toughest rivals, The Last Gunfighters of Texas. Always a fan favorite game, whenever these two teams meet on the field, the play is solid and one mistake can make all the difference. "We are going to do everything we can to control the ball game" said GM Painmaker. "We have a lot of experience against this team and know how to adjust to their strengths while shielding any weakness we may have when matching up." And knowing that the goal in season 7 is to get back to the winner's circle at the end of the of the playoffs, LOL understands they will most likely need to figure out how to beat TLGoT twice.
