I recently purchased a piece of AEQ with Absorb Pain attached to it. I bought this mainly due to the fact Absorb Pain is the most expensive Pass Blocking SA for lineman. However, after I bought it, I started thinking about the SA Absorb Pain, and it doesn't sound that beneficial to someone who is going to be facing pass rushing DT's who will be using agility on him, not strength.

I am thinking perhaps Absorb Pain for a Center or RG would be good, but that LG would use Foundation.

Any input?

I'm a huge proponent of Foundation; I think for Gs, it's the skill that should've been 5th.

All I can advise is to check your final game energy when you´ve had a brutally tough game against someone on bull rush. If it is OK, then you are OK.

You can build up the absorb pain piece for a bit, equip it during a scrimmage, and if it makes no noticable difference to your final game energy then it is probably better looking for another piece.

As for foundation - this seems like it directly counters "Strong Base" in a DT. According to them, it doesn´t currently work very well so maybe pumping foundation really high is not necessary at the moment. I hope that at some point in the future though that strength-based rushers get the sim tweaked in their favor, and then foundation will become vitally important.

I´m not putting any number on what a reasonable final game energy should be as I have no idea. Is it 60, 70, 80 even? I´m still unsure. What I do know is that My player finishes in the 70s which I think is fine.

Is it though? Or shoud I be increasing Absorb Pain?!

I got a guy with 10 foundation, he's impossible to get by..

Absorb pain is another poorly worded SA.

First it says:

Sounds real good. until you read farther:

OH! So it only works when you're PASS blocking STRONGER defenders. My guess is in some cases the guard may be weaker, if he's always playing against higher competition. But for the most part it seems like a worthless SA.
