Edit: there will only be 2 more of these this season. One right before the playoffs and one after the championship...
Finish Line Is In Sight
1. Cape Verde Kings
It's pretty much down hill from here to the playoffs. They have Charlie Don't Surf next followed by a good Zambia team capped off with a road game against a dangerous Warrior Kings team. They beat The Dream who had been ranked number 1 in every one of my POWAH RANKINGS which amkes this team the team to beat going into the playoffs and future seasons. Teams better start building their teams to beat Cape Verde because this is a POWAH house thats here to stay.
You know if Rocky IV went to the score cards he would have lost, good thing he knocked him out and ended single handedly ended The Cold War...
2. Angola Dream
They Still have charlie Don't Surf and The Outlaws on their schedule, no way they fall from the 2 seed. I like this team, but they really struggle through the middle of the season losing to 3 playoff teams. They might lack the depth to go deep into the playoffs but this team any given day of the week can beat any team... But I think they playbook on how to beat this team is out... The Road to the championship will be a long hard fought one.
3. Angola Spider Monkeez
Looking through this teams wins and losses, they are my pick to represent The Lion Conference in the championship game. They played a very close game with The Stallions and they beat The Dream. They end the season with The Jackals whcih should be enough to make the playoffs regardless of how they play the next 2 games. This Big Offensiveline keeps their QBs jersey very clean. They haven't allowed the fewest sacks in the lague but look at their passing attempts. I don't think anyone has attempted the same ammount of passes with as few sacks. Look Out Lion Conference
4. South African Ridgebacks
A couple questionable losses and a couple huge wins. The upcoming game Thursday will give the best gauge on where this teams stands, with the "elite" or down here with the "up and comers." This team might be one or two pieces from becoming a top contender. Look for this team to make some noise in the playoffs, but don't bet the rent money on them. I don't think this is their season but a few acquisitions in the offseason and we could see another king of the Lion Conference.
5. Dar Es Salaam Warrior Kings
I'm not sure why I am so high on this team. They beat all the teams they are supposed to beat but they don't really have a signature win that says they are a top tier team. What I do see though is in their 3 of their losses they lost by 7 or less. One overtime loss and two last second field goals with less than 30 seconds left... That's like almost getting laid on prom night..... almost. If things work out and they say all the right things they might find themselves in a favorable position.
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe. Motivational quote of the day - jan 27th 2009
6. Windhoek White Rhinos
This team is the only team in the league that will have beaten both The Angola Dream and Cape Verde Kings. That is an accomplishment in it's own.... So what happened in the 1 point loss to KNR and Dar Es Salaam? Then another loss against the 4 win Tuscaloosa Bulls? I called KNR Dr. Jekyl/Mr. hyde last POWAH RANKING, but I think we found the real Jekyl/Hyde Combo. The Bugeaters are their last real test, but knowing this team they'll probably Beat them and lose to a very solid Nigeria team...
7. Botswana Bugeaters
This Team is the most dangerous in the league RIGHT NOW. A team that believes in itself on a hot streak with it's eyes set on the playoffs is truly scary. I have them ranked kind of low right now because they still have 2 extremely hard games against Windhoek and The Spider Monkeez. After a 1-4 start they are on an 8 game war path. I have some doubts with the upcoming schedule though. Good Luck guys!
8. Rwanda Royal Knights
Strong start but rough stretch. 2 wins in the last 5 games with one being over a CPU team. They can right the ship and make a strong run to the playoffs with a couple wins down the stretch. The playoffs are no lock but the odds look pretty good right now. Tough Loss against Angola and a 2 touchdown loss to Cape Verde does not bode well for their first round match up in the playoffs.
9. Kalahari Knight Riders
I don't think this team knows who it is yet. A couple of impressive wins. A very strong showing against Cape Verde holding that team to its 3rd lowest score all season couple with 3 more losses by less than a touchdown. Champions win the close ones, and this team has lost more close ones than its won. They still haven't let go of playoff dreams yet though. The last 2 games on this teams schedule are against projected playoff teams. They Could Play Spoiler or or they could catch a miracle and land in the playoffs.
10. Zambia Lions
Just Like KNR this team has taken it's lumps it's first season in APL. A lot of positives from this season and I find it to be perfect timing that they play KNR this Thursday... One team continues to follow the dream and the other turns its sights to the off season. Good Luck Zambia
So.... whats your favorite fishing spot? you know for the offseason?
11. Nigeria Nightmares
Realistically, I think they have an outside chance to make the playoffs but if it ends a tie I don't think they hold a tie breaker over anyone. This is a very good team and I think we all just found out how truly strong APL is. These Pro leagues seperate they boys from the men, and some of us our still young gents trying to hump things.... Nigeria Will be back. They got some nice defensive schemes and will amke a come back...
12. Tuscaloosa Bulls
This team is no joke. They got some great GMs and a very good owner. Watch out for this team next season. Drew and co will be in the lab schemeing something up to come and drop on APL.
13. Wolfstein Werewolves
A Couple teams might have to look at this team for their sorrows. This team has a couple wins that prove that this team is to reckoned with. I wouldn't be surprised to see this team be a Fringe playoff team next season.
14. Cameroon Outlaws
Good luck with the rebuilding... see ya next season!
Making some extra room for my friends from AAA 1 maybe.
15. Charlie Dont SURF
you lost to the jackals but you scored more points against other teams
16. D jackals
Welp See you later!
So heres the bet. What will there be more of next season.... Shevegas threads about ABD getting relegated or Actual ABD wins?
