This is the match up both SoA and Cairo have been looking forward to (or dreading) as it will pretty much decide the number 2 in Elephant. Both teams are 12-1 and have had an impressive run for the season and both had close losses to Dakar (SoA by 6, Cairo by 4).

SoA has a very impressive offense that has just been kicking the snot out of opponents early and often all season long. They present a lot of different threats to a opponents defense. Cairo has lived and died with the running game pretty much most of the season, but have rediscovered their passing game about 1/3 of the way through the season. (Rumors of a locker room revolt led by the QB and some WR's can't be confirmed as the reason for the changes). Advantage SoA.

Defensively, both teams have had it pretty easy as SoA simply outscores opponents to the point their defense can afford to be aggressive against opponents as they try to play catch up. Cairo's defense has spent most of their games on the sidelines drinking gatorade as the offense simply rolls over opponents and wins time of possession. When on the field, their defense has been in the same mode as SoA and that is they can afford to be aggressive against an opponent who is usually down in score. Advantage even.

I think this game could go either way and could go from a SoA blow out of Cairo to Cairo winning a squeaker. Each teams defense will be asked to step up big this game because the defense that plays better (and gets the turnovers) is likely to be on the winning side. SoA needs their defense to get Cairo off the field so time of possession is not too one sided and Cairo needs to keep SoA out of the end zone and not allow them to get the early big lead.

As much as I would like to pick Cairo on this one, I think the SoA offense is going to be a bit much for the defense, so SoA wins in a fairly close game.

Should not really matter to the Dragons as they are pretty much the 1 seed. They own a tie break with both teams and I don't see either SoA or Cairo losing another game besides the loser of their game and Dakar should go 16-0. If anything Dakar will be happy to be in the playoff bracket they are going to be in. SoA and Cairo are going to be in the same bracket with each other and will likely get a rematch in the second round of the playoffs. The only question will be who the home team is for that game as one will be 2 and the other will be 3. Should be a excellent conference championship match up regardless as both teams played Dakar close during the season.

Your right but having you guys playing this late in the season with both of you doing well has sparked our interest. We haven't locked in the #1 seed we still have 3 weeks to go and anything can happen. This is more interesting in seeing who does what and who has watched the tape of each game to see what works and what doesn't. This game is going to tell me how "sharp both the offensive and defensive coordinators are with their game planning this late in the season. I know how both of you played early in the season against us now I want to see how each of you has evolved over the season. So our team is very interested to see the growth of both of your teams because both of you are very good.

We havent locked the #1 seed, but according to Froman's little spreadsheet, it's >99%
It's more of how your two teams approach a clutch game.
Experiment to catch the opponent off guard, or stick to what got you there in the first place ?
I say clutch, because realistically, this is the fight for home advantage when you likely meet in round 2 of the postseason. (edit.... which is basically what you said, Klydon)
Hopefully before the Conference Championship against the Dragons *fingers crossed*

Basically what the two above are trying to say is it will be nice to see you guys against another good team for once other than scouting you against the rest of the league and the blow outs.
