Week 7 Rankings for USA #7 (Western Conference)

Last week’s rankings: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=180879

I could use some help doing these, so if any of the owners/GM's or even people on the team could PM me what you thought went right and wrong in your games (like what I've done here), it would save me a bunch of time. Thanks

Disclaimer: I am the owner of the New Brunswick n00bs and this is only my opinion based upon how the teams looked when I saw them

1. Waco Davidians
2. Oakland Wizards
3. Great Plains Reapers (formerly Denver Pirates)
4. Dallas Red Raiders
5. Las Vegas Stunners
6. Bel Air Beardogs
7. New Brunswick n00bs
8. Hartford Hellhounds
9. Scottsdale Sun Demons
10. Spicewood Longhorns
11. Portland Hitmen
12. Grand Haven Mists
13. Miami Cyclones
14. RGB Berzerk
15. Chicago Clams
16. Ambridge Brigade

1. Waco Davidians - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1220
Contributor: rj414
What went right: Offensive Line – In a word, ridiculous. In numbers, 100, 397.5 and 7. That would be 100 pancakes, 397.5 rushing yards and 7 rushing TDs. I guess that’s what you get when the #1 team plays the #16 team.
What went wrong: Kicker? – His leg probably got tired from kicking so many times, but he missed a FG and an PAT. Besides that, this game was nearly flawless.
Recent Game: W 65-0 vs Ambridge
Record: 7-0
Previous Rank: 1
Next Game: at Bel Air Beardogs

2. Oakland Wizards - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1215
I’m extremely intrigued by Hellen Keller, so I will periodically have a special section for her if she does something notable
What went right: Linebackers – Their linebacking corp was pretty beastly in this game. Accounting for a bulk of the tackles, 1 sack, 1 hurry, 5 TFLs, and 0 missed tackles, the Wizards’ linebackers prevented the Reapers’ runners from gaining any addition yards.
What went wrong: Turnovers – In a game this closely contested, the 2 turnovers that were committed could have potentially been fatal. Fortunately, the Wizards were able to muster up enough defense and offense to nullify those mistakes.
Hellen Keller Watch: Even though she didn’t throw the ball (and was only in 4 plays this game), she was still involved in one of the turnovers. How? Through no fault of her own, she just happened to be the one to pitch the ball when the runner fumbled.
Recent Game: W 23-13 at Great Plains
Record: 6-1
Previous Rank: 3
Next Game: vs Hartford Hellhounds

3. Great Plains Reapers (formerly Denver Pirates) - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1212
What went right: QB play – Once again the Reapers showed a pretty consistent passing attack led by their QBs. They had a very solid completion rate (over 60%) and considering the 4 dropped passes, it could have been higher.
What went wrong: Red Zone Offense – If they had been able to convert most of their red zone opportunities into TDs, they could have won this game. When push came to shove, they weren’t able to come up with enough clutch third down plays to win this game.
Recent Game: L 13-23 vs Oakland
Record: 5-2
Previous Rank: 2
Next Game: at Miami Cyclones

4. Dallas Red Raiders - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1217
What went right: Run Defense – They didn’t allow any broken tackles and held the Sun Demons to a low 2.1 yd/carry average. After the first quarter, the Raiders pretty much just shut down the run game and held the Sun Demons to less than 20 yards/quarter the rest of the game.
What went wrong: Turnovers – Frankly a lot of things went wrong for them this game, but with 3 turnovers and another 3 potential turnovers, Dallas really let this game slip away from them. Fortunately, none of the turnovers turned into points, but they still killed a couple of drives.
Recent Game: T 10-10 vs Scottsdale
Record: 4-2-1
Previous Rank: 4
Next Game: at RGB Berzerk

5. Las Vegas Stunners - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1219
What went right: Offensive Line – With 50 pancakes, it’s pretty easy to tell how Las Vegas won. They opened some gaping holes for the backs to run through and the backs ran to a tune of 5.2 yds/carry while accounted for all of the Stunners’ TDs.
What went wrong: Tackling – The Las Vegas defense had a stunning 9 missed tackles. This could be problematic if they face a team that consistently uses a power runner.
Recent Game: W 20-3 at Chicago
Record: 5-2
Previous Rank: 6
Next Game: vs Grand Haven Mists

6. Bel Air Beardogs - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1224
What went right:Secondary – The Beardogs’ secondary pretty much terrorized the Portland pass offense. With 10 passes deflected and a whopping 4 INTs, the secondary made passing a risky endeavor for the Portland QBs
What went wrong: Pass Offense – Unfortunately, the Beardogs’ pass offense was equally stifled and yielded 2 INTs and only completed 42.3% of the passes. Fortunately, their running game was good enough to power them to the win.
Recent Game: W 17-0 at Portland
Record: 5-2
Previous Rank: 7
Next Game: vs Waco Davidians

7. New Brunswick n00bs - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1210
What went right: Kicker – In a close fought game, the kicker of the n00bs’ Dave Allison really shined. Only missing a 48.5 yd FG, he hit 4 crucial FGs from 25 yds, 37 yds, 44.5 yds and 47 yds out. Those 12 points alone would have won the game for the n00bs.
What went wrong: Special Teams Coverage – Many of the n00bs’ 9 missed tackles came on special teams and allowed Hartford to have good field position. Fortunately for the n00bs’ their defense was able to hold the Hartford offense at bay for the duration of the game.
Recent Game: W 19-10 vs Hartford
Record: 5-2
Previous Rank: 8
Next Game: at Spicewood Longhorns

8. Hartford Hellhounds - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1216
What went right: Receivers – With no drops and very solid YACs, the receivers did all they could to make the passing game successful for the Hellhounds. Unfortunately, not enough passes were slung close to their range, so their impact was limited.
What went wrong: Turnovers – In an unfortunate recurrence, the Hellhounds’ starting RB fumbled the ball twice and turned over the ball. Both times were crucial as one was when Hartford was entering the red zone and the other led to a FG.
Recent Game: L 10- 19 at New Brunswick
Record: 4-3
Previous Rank: 5
Next Game: at Oakland Wizards

9. Scottsdale Sun Demons - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1225
What went right:Linebackers – With the Red Raiders’ offensive line handling the D-line with 11 pancakes, the linebackers needed to step up to prevent big plays. Well, they did that and more. Accounting for 4 TFLs and 2 of the 4 forced fumbles, the linebackers came to play and did what they needed to to stop Dallas’ attack.
What went wrong: Receivers – With 7 dropped passes, the receivers didn’t help the QBs in moving the ball down the field. If they were able to hang onto the ball better, this game could have been won.
Recent Game: T 10-10 at Dallas
Record: 3-3-1
Previous Rank: 9
Next Game: vs Portland Hitmen

10. Spicewood Longhorns - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1214
Contributor: im4ut999 – He contributed last week, but I forgot to put it in.
What went right: Offense – Spicewood displayed an extremely balanced offense this game that kept RGB’s defense guessing. With an efficient pass percentage of over 60% combined with a solid running game that was successful due to a solid O-line, there really wasn’t much that RGB could do.
What went wrong: First Quarter D – The Longhorns’ defense didn’t seem ready at the start of the game. They allowed a whopping 121 yards in the first quarter alone. Fortunately, the defense was able to wake up in the red zone and only allow 6 points from those yards gained. After the first quarter, the defense clamped down and didn’t allow the Berzerks to sniff the red zone again.
Recent Game: W 26-6 vs RGB
Record: 4-3
Previous Rank: 10
Next Game: vs New Brunswick

11. Portland Hitmen - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1211
What went right:Linebackers – With the defensive line getting pancaked regularly, the linebackers stepped up and held Bel Air’s rush offense to one of their lower rush totals. With very few missed tackles and a few TFLs, the linebackers did their part in keeping the Hitmen in the game.
What went wrong: Receivers – Granted the QBs weren’t throwing that accurately as attested to by the 4 INTs, but it sure doesn’t help when the receivers drop 9 passes. When the Hitmen look back on the season, this game could be a “what-if” game where if certain things went their way the results could have been different.
Recent Game: L 0-17 vs Bel Air
Record: 2-5
Previous Rank: 11
Next Game: at Scottsdale Sun Demons

12. Grand Haven Mist - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1222
What went right: Defense – The Mist defense only allowed Miami’s offense into the red zone once the whole game and subsequently forced Miami to turn the ball over on downs. With no missed tackles, this was a virtuous performance by the Grand Haven defense.
What went wrong: Turnovers – Their QB threw 2 INTs which prevented them from scoring even more points, but thankfully the defense held tough and prevented those INTs from turning into points.
Recent Game: W 13-0 vs Miami
Record: 1-6
Previous Rank: 15
Next Game: at Las Vegas Stunners

13. Miami Cyclones - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1955
What went right: Pass Offense – The QBs and receivers for the Cyclones did a fairly decent job attacking the Grand Haven defense. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to string enough completions together to be effective.
What went wrong: Run Offense – While not statistically horrible, Miami’s backs weren’t able to break any tackles, were tackled for a loss 5 times and fumbled the ball 3 times. Those fumbles could have been even more catastrophic of they weren’t recovered two times. They needed their runners to help sustain drives and instead many of the rushes ended up killing off the drive.
Recent Game: L 0-13 at Grand Haven
Record: 2-5
Previous Rank: 12
Next Game: vs Grand Plains Reapers

14. RGB Berzerk - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1223
What went right: Johnny Awooga – Once again Awooga was the star attraction for the Berzerks. He churned out very respectable yardage, but wasn’t given enough opportunities to really make an impact, especially late in the game.
What went wrong: Tackles – They had 13 missed tackles that were spread evenly throughout the defense. It showed that they just weren’t able to prevent Spicewood’s receivers and backs from gaining extra yardage. And in a game where they needed every advantage that they could get, the Berzerk’s defense did not help their cause.
Recent Game: L 6-26 at Spicewood
Record: 1-6
Previous Rank: 13
Next Game: vs Dallas Red Raiders

15. Chicago Clams - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1218
What went right: QB play – Considering that the receivers had 8 drops, the QBs did a very respectable job distributing the ball. Accounting for almost all of Chicago’s offensive yards, the QBs were able to pick at some of Las Vegas’ soft spots in the secondary.
What went wrong: Offensive inconsistency – With 12 out of their 17 drives ending as three and outs, the Clams were never able to really drive down the field. They needed to string more plays together, but couldn’t overcome the Vegas defense.
Recent Game: L 3-20 vs Las Vegas
Record: 1-6
Previous Rank: 14
Next Game:

16. Ambridge Brigade - http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1221
What went right: QB play – Even with 9 hurries and a sack, the QB played a very solid game with no INTs. Add the fact that the Bridage’s receivers dropped 6 passes and it was a decent showing by the Brigade’s QB.
What went wrong: Tackling – With an overwhelmed D-line, the Brigade couldn’t afford to have many missed tackles if they wanted to keep this game close. Their total tally of 35 missed tackles pretty much told the story of how fruitless this endeavor was.
Recent Game: L 0-65 at Waco
Record: 0-7
Previous Rank: 16
Next Game: vs Chicago Clams

Offensive Player of the Week:
HB Wolfgang Puck Waco – 27 rushes, 213.5 yds (7.9 yd/carry), 4 TDs, 23 broken tackles, 1 TFL

Defensive Player of the Week:
CB Cordell Walker Bel Air – 3 Tackles, 4 Passes Deflected, 2 INTs, 0 missed tackles

Special Teams Player of the Week:
K David Allison New Brunswick – 4/5 in FGs (25 yds, 37 yds, 44.5 yds and 47 yds) and 1/1 in PATs

Game of the Week:
#6 Bel Air vs #1 Waco

Once again Waco is getting challenged by a likely play-off bound team. In this brutal first half of the season, Waco has stared down all challengers. Will they be able to turn away another team to preserve the perfect season?
Prediction: Yup. This victory should not be as hard as some of the other ones, but it is still a challenge.
Predicted Score: 24-14 Waco

Current “Game of the Week” Record: 2-7

Haha, it probably should...the person who was involved in the most negative/useless plays will get the award. Right now Hellen Keller has the inside track, but we'll see if any contenders pop up.

Jeez, that'd be too hard to pick, some of these kickers are downright loopy, haha. You guys should nominate people though.
