WHEW what a week

The Cape Town Cubicles 15 1
Monty Pythons 15 1
The D-League Home For Underprivileged Children 14 2
Rome Raiders 13 3
Sevastopol Wolverines 12 4
Constantinople Romans 12 4
C-Town Hoodlums 9 7
Transylvania Terror 8 8
The Wheatfield 8 8
Terlingua Javelinas 7 9
Draguignan Dragons 83 6 10
Grodno Titans 4 12
Subotica Scorpions 4 12
Columbus Crush 2 14
Chernobyl Radionuclides 1 15
Elancourt Templiers 0 16

And on Week 11, God said let there be none, and the Cubes become the last undefeated team to fall. However, no change in the projections. It's pretty impressive that the 6th seed is a projected 12-4, but considering the Romans are 9-2 now and in 6th, there's very room for mistakes at the top of Zeta.

Zeta RPI

Monty Pythons .673
The D-League Home For Underprivileged Children .614
Constantinople Romans .583
The Cape Town Cubicles .580
Sevastopol Wolverines .576
Rome Raiders .568
C-Town Hoodlums .529
The Wheatfield .514
Terlingua Javelinas .509
Transylvania Terror .498
Draguignan Dragons 83 .478
Subotica Scorpions .430
Grodno Titans .418
Chernobyl Radionuclides .416
Elancourt Templiers .398
Columbus Crush .398

Pythons are pulling away even further with a win over D-L. In fact, what used to be a 2 tier system with Pythons/D-L/Cubes followed by Wolverines/Romans/Raiders/C-T has basically turned into Pythons... and everyone else. The Romans' upset over the Cubes and C-T's we-don't-need-no-stinkin-field-goal loss has muddled the entire group. It's essentially come down to any team, on any given Sunday (unless you're playing the Pythons).

The fun doesn't end quite yet. C-T continues their tough stretch with a must win over Wheatfield (+8) if they want to get in the playoffs. On the other side of the playoff group, the surging Wolverines get reacquainted with the suddenly vulnerable Cubes (-12).

After going 0-2, I'm 3-3 for the season. I'm taking C-T and the 8 points.

Alpha projections

NISSA Dauphins 15 1

Bohemian Grove Molechs 2 14
International Players 0 16

The Lisbon Conspiracy is finally over! With Elancourt putting up 7 against the Crush, I can finally revert to original numbers. Although maybe I should keep the "cheat" in, what with Lisbon proving the spreadsheet right against the Pirates. And while giving up 50% of the points instead of 100% to the worst team helps, the spreadsheet now considers your defense "weak" instead of "wtf kind of defense is that LOL."

The closest game was by 21 points and none of the results were surprising. But this week has a few good ones: Pirates play an Outlaws team (-7) that is barely hanging on. Are the Pirates the team that beat the Thrashers? Or the one that got destroyed by Lisbon? The Thrashers also have a game against Chernobyl (-22) to determine which is the real 10-1 team and which is just pretending. The most interesting game is actually Saratov v. Impalers. Both teams need the win to help their playoff drive, and it's projected to be a 27-27 tie.

We are an underachieving group what can I say, with that said were going to be the team you don't want to face come playoff time.

Nice job with the rankings to by the way.

What? No love for the Lisbon vs. Woburn matchup. Should be a good one imho.

This thread just gets more interesting by the week. Thanks for taking the time.

Wolverines v Cape Town is going to be a throwback...we were in the same league back in season 4 and 5. Lifetime we are 1-1 against each other. Should be some good, old fashioned football

I agree, this thread really adds a lot to this season, if this game allowed FPs to be transfered - I'd gladly chip a few your direction. but since it doesn't, you'll just have to do with my thanks.

As for the projected results - I'm looking for a good game against the Outlaws this week.

Awesome thread. I know I occasionally comment on it, but that is only because it interests me so much. I only logged on GLB to check for this thread infact while I watch the Magic lose!

I can't figure out how the Lisbon conspiracy with just one touchdown can dramatically swing the results from us going 15-1 to now 12-4. While I agree we still have some tough games ahead, I don't see us losing 4 or winning out either. Should be interesting.

By the way, great job on the projections and all that.

By the way, great job on the projections and all that.

The irony is that it worked better when it was broken. Giving up that 1 TD to an 0-11 team, being responsible for 100% of the points they scored all season, rates your defense somewhere around high school football. A girls high school, that is.

Now that it's been "fixed" you're still responsible for 50% of the points given up to an 0-11 team with a sub-400 RPI. That improves your defensive rating to somewhere around a middle tier division II school. The projections for how many points you score in the future games doesn't change, and when I cheated to give you a shutout in the first game, your defense was rated high and so the projected points against you were low, thus a 15-1 record. Now that we put the Elancourt points back in and your defense is lowered, the points expected against you are higher, thus a 12-4 record.

Keep in mind, you guys have only played 1 top tier team in the Thrashers and lost. Looking purely at the numbers, one could classify Lisbon as a team that can't beat the big teams (Thrashers), has trouble with the middle teams (Outlaws and Impalers), and has a defense that couldn't even shutout a team that everyone else did (Elancourt). Based on those stats, how would you make your argument that you are better than 12-4?

That´s what makes this rankings and projections stuff so interesting. Provides a different view on how the teams are doing and are projected to do. It also gives us extra motivation to prove the projections wrong.
