Here we are 10 games into the season, and the true leaders of the Africa Pro League Lion Conference have emerged. With near spotless records, power rushing attacks and defenses that can close the door on any team, The 9-1 Cape Verde Kings and the 8-2 Angola Dream are set to play tomorrow in what could be a preview of the Lion conf. championship game baring any upsets.
Angola lead by RB Eve Wang have been upset twice in the last three weeks, but are still a true threat and are not to be written off. "We allowed ourselves to be over confident, and not put it all out on the field, I take most of the blame by not preparing as normal, and not living up to the standard I have set" said Angola quarterback Vinny Wang. "All I can do it my best for the rest of the season, and prepare to lead my team towards the goal we have set for ourselves, a APL championship!" he then followed with, what better than to come out against Cape Verde and put the critics to rest.
After 2 losses and subpar performances by Vinny, speculation had it that the Dream could be looking into upgrading the qb position this offseason to go with their already dynamic running game. Dream owner Evesong had this to say, "we are not looking to make any changes, even the best of teams have bad days, we just have to move forward, and prepare harder, train harder, and work harder, so it doesnt happen again." "As of now we are not looking to make any changes, now or after the season, regardless of the results."
Cape Verde on the other hand, was given there first loss to an up and coming Rhinos team who has been a rival of the Kings for more than a few season now, and who also beat the Dream, since then owner Dlee and Def. Cooridinator Randey, have done everything to make sure it didnt happen again, and they have come out with back to back wins over tough division opponents. With the Bruiser/Cruiser backfield that has made waves through out APL, the Kings look to prove that they are indeed the upper echelon of teams in the APL midway through their second season.
Big game defensive backs Primetimes and Brandi Mceuen have come up huge in some close games, with drive ending turnovers. Combining them with a fast and hard hitting front 7 which includes one of the best NT's in Chubb Rock and their vocal leader and possibly APL's best LB Blackheart Zittner, and this team could be one of the best defenses in the league!
Quarterback Austin Mceuen said,"We have been working hard all season, this is a true test of how far we have come, both offensively and defensively, we all need to bring our A game, including me." "The team who turns the ball over less, will most likely walk away with this one." Austin is having one if his less statistical seasons, but has been asked to throw a lot less, and more of managing the game, which he has shown to be one of the best.
This game promises to show the league who is the better of the two, and will forever mark a bullseye on the winner come playoff time.
"We nee this one, we want to prove that not only to we belong in the APL, but also, we need to be feared as much as LOL and the Gunfighters, the kings are a tough team! And we are only getting better." said Owner Dlee in his weekley presser. The only thing I say to the Dream, is get ready, because we are faster, stronger, and smarter than last season." "Nothing short of victory is acceptable, the players and coaches all know this!"
