The biggest game of the season in the west is front and center this week as the Whistler Warriors take on the Northern Demons. It should be an all out brawl as the Demons and Warriors are out to prove their losses to NuvaNut were a fluke. One team will likely take down the West crown in this match-up while the loser will likely plot their revenge in the playoffs. It is anybody's guess who will win in this battle of A#3 Titans.
--------The best A#3 West has to offer------------------
#1 NuvaNut Knights-----(8-2)-----(1)------------#12 Da Nang Gang Bangers------The #1 spot is only a formality this week as a win will likely still drop them to the #2 spot. The early losses on the schedule will finally catch up to NuvaNut even though they are the hottest team in the division. They drop regardless of what happens this week.
#2 Whistler Warriors--(9-1)--------(2)------------#3 Northern Demons--------------A win puts them in the number 1 spot. A loss will probably drop them to the 3 spot. This is an all or nothing game for league supremacy. They have learned from their mistakes against NuvaNut and should be well prepared for this match-up of once beaten teams.
#3 Northern Demons----(9-1)--------(3)-------------#2 Whistler Warriors-----------The Demons have been sandbagging over the last week or two in an effort to not reveal anything to the Warriors. Billsman knows what he is doing and should bring his highly touted team into the match-up fully boosted. The question is, do they want home field advantage in the playoffs or a first round home game?
-------Next seasons Big Guns------------------
#4 Vancouver "Pitbulls"------ (9-1)---------(4)--------#9 Culver Eagles---------The "Pitbulls" should be up for another match-up against a team that doesn’t stand much of a chance. Vancouver has shown that they are a top team in this league and will not be denied their playoff spot or a home game in the playoffs. I look for them to solidify a spot as the #3-4 team in the West.
#5 Hogwarts Wizards-(7-3)-----(6)-------------#6Vancouver Northern Lights----------I think the Hogwarts pull the upset in this game. Vancouver was exposed in their last match-up and really haven’t beaten a quality team all season. I look for them to pull out a last second play out of their bag o’ “Harry Potter” tricks.
-----Filling out the bottom half of the playoff bracket------
#6 Vancouver Northern Lights --------(8-2)--------(5)-----------#5 Hogwarts Wizards------------I think the Northern Lights start their free fall during the 2nd half of the season. They really haven’t shown me that they can beat any of the top tier teams. I’m still looking for their statement game.
#7 Yellowknife Eskimo Hunters-(7-3)--(7)-------#15 Alberta Mounties---------------This will be a rape-fest. The Eskimo Hunters will thrash the Mounties and move up in the rankings as they should. I think we will see the Yellowknife in the 6 spot next week where I think they will remain.
-----Clinging to the 8th spot--------
#8 New Cologne Bears---------(5-5)------(8)---------------#13 Ottawa Jaguars---------The Bears hang on to the 8 spot out of circumstance. They played well against the Warriors and limited the big plays in a game they were outmatched from the very beginning. A game against Ottawa should get them on the right track.
