Zeta Power Rankings

1. (1) Amsterdam Pirates (73-7 Win vs. Glasgow Cats)

10-0 (2-0 vs. Top 5 teams in Zeta)

Another solid win for the Pirates as they cruise to a nice perfect 10-0 on the season. There was no doubt that they would beat the Cats but they did it in very impressive fashion. Total dominance on both sides of the ball and only allowing a TD with 5mins to go as the defense was ready to party after yet another win. Both HB’s American Gigalo and Tenks PB ran the ball well as they went for a combined 351 yards and 7 TD’s. Plenty of guys on defense stood out as they held an up and coming Cats offense to only 165 yards in this one. Very impressive game given the fact that they probably were spending most of their time studying up on the Irish who they will play on Thursday night. No question it will be the Game of the Week and could end up being the most important game for the Pirates to roll to an undefeated regular season. Pirates win this one by 17.
Next game vs. #3 Ireland Drunken Irish

2. (2) West Yorkshire Bandits (37-14 Win vs. Washington Warriors)

9-1 (4-1 vs. Top 5)

The Bandits just about got all they could handle vs. the Warriors tonight. They did win by a nice margin but that was more because the Warriors couldn’t finish drives then anything stellar that the Bandits did. No question the surprise game of the night as Warriors held the Bandits to 333 yards while putting up 276 of their own. The Bandits pulled away in the 3rd quarter as they were setup by a couple of nice returns by Terrell “The Answer” Owens that gave them a short field to work with and the offense took advantage. The Bandits can now focus all of their attention on the WEBBB Tournament since they will cruise to victory in the next 5 games before a decent match up with the Hounds to end the regular season.
Next game vs. #16 Trondheim Berserkir

3. (3) Ireland Drunken Irish (34-10 Win vs. EuroTrash Talkers)

8-2 (2-1 vs. Top 5)

Another strong performance by the Drunken Irish tonight as they won in convincing fashion against the Trash Talkers. They held one of the leagues best offenses to a mere 172 yards of offense while putting up 423 of their own including an impressive 265 on the ground. The Defense was all over the place and confused the QB and the O-Line all day. After a bad first game then losing to the Bandits by 3 the Irish are proving to be a real contender for the League Title and could be in line for a Top spot if they can beat the Pirates on Thursday. No question in my mind that mraynesir will have his squad pumped up and ready for the game. If their defense plays as well against the Pirates as they did tonight it could be a hell of a game.
Next game vs. #1 Amsterdam Pirates

4. (4) Stafford Spartans (34-6 Win vs. Aalborg Snaps)

8-2 (0-2 vs. Top 5)

A very odd game for the Spartans as yes they win by 28 but I would have guessed it would have been by much more. Great game by the defense as they held the Snaps to 0 yards rushing but didn’t put the heat on the QB you would expect and caused no turnovers. The offense dinked and dunked it’s way down the field 4 TD’s but they missed 3 FG’s as Blair Coutu doesn’t seem to have as big of a leg as the Spartans OC thinks he does; 3/14 from beyond 40 is not close to a good number (perhaps I should leave this out and let them keep kicking those long distance prayers). I see a crack in the armor here and think they will lose to the Hounds on Thursday night as they start to see a home playoff game slipping away from them.
Next game vs. #5 Copenhagen Hounds

5. (6) Copenhagen Hounds (118-0 Win vs. Arlington Sandlot)

8-2 (0-2 vs. Top 5)

The Hounds are on fire winning 5 straight and all in convincing fashion. I predicted a 70-point win in this one and even that was not nearly enough as the Hounds rolled up over 1,000 yards of offense against the Sandlot. HB Seth Stone ran for nearly 500 yards and 6 TD’s in this one as he gets player of the game honors while the O-Line gets an honorable mention for opening up ridiculous holes to run through. This team will face it’s first real challenge since losing a tough one by 3 to the Irish back on the 10th but I think they will be up to the task and will continue their winning ways vs. the Spartans on Thursday night.
Next game vs. #4 Stafford Spartans

6. (5) EuroTrash Talkers (10-34 Loss vs. Ireland Drunken Irish)

7-3 (0-2 vs. Top 5)

Another loss vs. a Top team has team owner BADAS$ scratching his head and searching for answers. This team blows out the cupcakes as all good teams should do but they just don’t seem to want it badly enough against solid opponents like the Irish. They did NOTHING on offense and couldn’t stop the run at all as the Irish put up 265 on the ground and an alarming 6 yards per carry. A close game in the first half (14-10) turned into anything but as the Irish put up 20 while shutting out the Talkers in the 2nd half. The Talkers should and probably will win the next two games easily but then they finish the season off with 4 tough games in a row vs. Top teams so it now or never for this team to get it figured out.
Next game vs. #11 Wolverhampton Wolverines

7. (8) Chicagoo Bears (48-7 Win vs. Wolverhampton Wolverines)

8-2 (0-2 vs. Top 5)

A nice easy win for the Bears to feel good about and get them back on track. They went to their bread and butter ground game for nearly 300 yards and 5 rushing TD’s. They’ll need to continue to improve and play well as they are a lock for the playoffs but have a rough 4 game set upcoming after Thursday’s game against the Snaps. I still think this team is a season away from being a real good team and the Snaps may test them though they should win this one going away. We’ll see if they come out ready to play or if they take another sub par team lightly.
Next game vs. #9 Aalborg Snaps

8. (7) Washington Warriors (14-37 Loss vs. West Yorkshire Bandits)

5-5 (0-2 vs. Top 5)

The Warriors drop 1 spot this week but not for lack of effort as they gave the Bandits a good game which nobody other then the Warriors thought was possible. As I put in the Bandits section the game really boiled down to two short drives in the 3rd quarter where the Bandits had to make a 4th down play just to keep one drive going. One or two bounces of the ball in the Warriors direction could have provided the upset of the season. The Warriors need to hold their heads high and prepare for a battle on Thursday night with the Cats who despite a horrible record still have a shot at the #8 playoff spot. I think whoever wins this battle will end up with the final spot though neither team will do anything in the Playoffs it will still be nice to get there.
Next game vs. #10 Glasgow Cats

9. (10) Aalborg Snaps (6-34 Loss vs. Stafford Spartans)

4-6 (0-2 vs. Top 5)

This team is playing for nothing but pride at the moment and came out swinging vs. a much better Spartans team and came away with a tough fought loss. This team has been a big surprise this year and with 1 upset win could end up in the playoffs but I think the 2-point loss to the Cats will do them in. If QB Mickel Lite had anywhere near a good game it could have turned out differently but he just couldn’t get on track as he threw for a mere 60 yards on 7-29 throwing. They will need a similar effort with a better game from their QB on Thursday if they want to pull of the upset vs. the Bears. I think it will be a close game but I see the Snaps losing by about 2 TD’s.
Next game vs. #7 Chicagoo Bears

10. (9) Glasgow Cats (7-73 Loss vs. Amsterdam Pirates)

2-8 (0-5 vs. Top 5)

The Glasgow Cats are a good team that is on the rise but right now they are no match for the top talent in the league as was on display again last night as they took one on the chin at the hands of the Pirates. neoliminal needs to forget about that game right now and let his team know that the Game of the Year for them is on Thursday night vs. the Warriors. Whichever team wins that game will make the playoffs and that is something that I know the Cats desperately want. I think the Cats will win it and then will win out to finish with a .500 record and then play the Pirates in the first round.
Next game vs. #8 Washington Warriors

11. (12) Wolverhampton Wolverines (7-48 Loss vs. Chicagoo Bears)

2-8 (0-3 vs. Top 5)

Another big loss for the Wolverines has them with the leagues 2nd longest current losing steak which has now reached 7 games. They did nothing well against the Bears and will likely do nothing again on Thursday as they play the Trash Talkers who are once again hungry after a loss last night. The Wolverines are going to lose the next 3 games by a fairly wide margin then finish with 3 weak opponents who they could compete against.
Next game vs. #6 EuroTrash Talkers

12. (13) Artic Demon Santas (72-0 Win vs. Papa Dong’s Dragon Farm)

3-7 (0-2 vs. Top 5)

After last weeks beat down in the Power Rankings post the Santas got together and decided to play a full game and delivered a nice shutout win against the Dragon Farm. They will get another win against the Cavs on Thursday before they get what could be their biggest defeat of the year against the Bandits on Saturday.
Next game vs. #15 Kickback Cavaliers

13. (11) Arlington Sandlot (0-118 Loss vs. Copenhagen Hounds)

2-8 (0-4 vs. Top 5)

While I know they just beat the Santas there is no way you can lose 118-0 and not drop at least 1 spot. Losing like that indicates that you didn’t want to even play a game and maybe that is what’s happening in Arlington this season. We’ll see for sure when they play the Dragon Farm, which is a team that everyone can and should beat up on.
Next game vs. #14 Papa Dong’s Dragon Farm

14. (14) PaPa Dong’s Dragon Farm (0-72 Loss vs. Artic Demon Santas)

1-9 (0-4 vs. Top 5)

Losing to the Santas by 72 can hardly be fun even for this group of slow building agents that are content with losing. A decent enough match up for the Dragon Farm when they play the Sandlot though I see the Sandlot winning by 25.
Next game vs. #13 Arlington Sandlot

15. (16) Kickback Cavaliers (41-0 Win vs. Trondheim Berserkir)

1-9 (0-4 vs. Top 5)

IT’S OVER!!! The 23 game losing steak came to an end last night, as the Cavs not only won but shutout the Berserkir in the most impressive game in Cavs history. They will likely lose the rest of their games though they might give the Santas a good game and could beat the Dong’s on Saturday. We’ll all be on the edge of our seats for those games I’m sure.
Next game vs. #12 Artic Demon Santas

16. (15) Trondheim Berserkir (0-41 Loss vs. Kickback Cavaliers)

0-10 (0-2 vs. Top 5)

Another loss last night and an ass kicking coming Thursday night as the Berserkir will lose by more than 100.
Next game vs. #2 West Yorkshire Bandits

Zeta Game of the Week-
#1 Amsterdam Pirates vs. #3 Ireland Drunken Irish. This is the game the Irish have been looking forward to since a tough/close loss to the Bandits a few weeks back. Be careful what you wish for.

#8 Washington Warriors vs. #10 Glasgow Cats. While I know this game is not between top teams and the Spartan – Hounds game is a bigger match up this game is more important for these two teams than any other this week. This game will decide who is in and who is out of the playoffs.

This year we may/will have teams in and out of the top 5. The record vs. Top 5 teams will reflect your record vs. teams that were in the top 5 when you played them.

Good luck to anyone playing the pirates. they have a unique defense (and I've stolen some of their plays, so I should know). They plan well and they have the best roster, IMO, in the league. Look for them to graduate next season.

As for the Washington Warriors... we've seen you sign some new talent. Don't think we're taking this game lightly. I've watched every single one of your games and I know exactly what our game plan is. Should be a wild ride. Good luck to both of us. ;-)

Can whoever is playing the Hounds slow their run game down a bit, we want that top spot on the rushing yards chart.
