I cannot say I blame them with the random changes and such to the game but it sure makes the owners job difficult in the off-season.

No real reason for the post =) Just feeling sorry for myself.

Gonna can a couple of mine i think. Game changes really just kill some players, given the $ we're pumping into them it seems a bit out of line.

I wonder if we'll see even more drastic league re-alignments than we've already seen -- by the sounds of the last admin announcement they aren't happy with the way all the talent isn't moving up to the league levels they want them at. If a lot of players are retiring it'll be even worse.

Seems to me you're going to see a lot of what sort of happened with Tilburg and Schiffertown -- a combining of 2 teams with big gaps in the roster after a fruitless off-season to make 1 competitive team and yet another abandoned shell of a team -- which creates the need for even more league re-alignment...

Personally I'd love to see leagues be able to self-organize to some extent -- the current system is weak and Bort's boys are punishing a lot of teams with unwelcome promotions in order to prop it up -- hate to be a doomsday guy, but it looks like its just going to get worse.

Yeah, I am not really a fan myself of some of the changes but I am REALLY not a fan of some of the re-alignment changes.

I really feel my team is pretty much on what should be the "right path" in terms of promotions. Make a team, struggle, do well the following year, do well enough to get promoted the next year, move up, etc....

I feel bad for the guy who were not "dominate" in their lower league and still got moved up. Especially when you consider how tough it is to recruit 40+ players. If you were 10-6 in an "A" league with mostly low 30's players and got moved up to AA and are now facing 40+ guys you are not going to win alot of games. Game planning can only take you so far.

I guess, in theory, waiting a season for the top 4-6 teams to move up and plan on kicking butt the following year is an OK plan. However, teams who have been promoted with never having the benefit of 3+ home play off games are going to be hurting in the money area. Without a mostly finished stadium you simply cannot afford lvl 40 gear. It's almost impossible to recruit lvl 40+ guys of you cannot promise gear.

Oh well, I am mostly just not looking forward to another off-season of trying to find players. It'll drive me out of owning a team soon i think.

Exactly, we have not had a home playoff game yet. We were looking forward to it this year to help with finances before getting moved up. We'll still probably make the playoffs this year, but we were looking at contending for the title in our previous conference.

my feelings as well scrogz..... we were the team you were talking about, ready to have one dominant year at the previous level and get some more home $$ and most importantly fan support. I think that will really hurt us now as we have made sacrifices to finish the stadium.

The problem is that everything they do in the game is designed to push players into the elite leagues, which is all well and good, but it makes recruiting an absolute nightmare for anybody not in these elite leagues.

The game is set up to make the rich get richer and leave the poor behind, then they complain when teams fold and leave the leagues needing restructuring.

Then the restructuring causes teams that aren't ready to get promoted and the whole cycle starts over again.

If the game is to succeed they need to take on board some kind of NFL concept of parity and leave some way for teams not in the elite to actually be able to compete and dig themselves out of their hole and be able to compete.

Otherwise certain owners are basically just wasting their cash fighting a losing battle to make teams competitive when everything in the game is set up to prevent them, which strikes me as fundamentally unfair.

My complaints are similiar to a lot of the ones others have raised:

1. We've never had a home playoff game and I really can't afford to be playing at these levels much longer without a few. We're running on loyalty pure and simple. My team started out as an expansion team in this league. We've won a lot of games over the years, but never done well enough to get promoted. We've been able to give our level forties $300,000 towards equipment this season.

2. I hate that it is a rich get richer system. I hate winning games 128-10. I definitely hate losing by that score too. Never has become such a joke this year. I would like to see 44-0 being a huge blowout and 1800 yards being a dominant back. 30 TD passes should be a real accomplishment too.

3. The time sink keeps increasing. It is hard for me to dedicated 90 minutes a day every day to this sim.

4. I am pumping a lot of cash into here and some of my players probably should be retired. My CB kick returner is level 40 now and that seems to be a waste of a player to create in retrospect.

5. Recruiting gets worse and worse. I really hated looking for DEs this year and I only found one who was kind of low for my team anyway when his team gutted.

6. Things that would make this game better by balancing things out are never considered. Instead, everything goes to making the rich richer.

I believe Bort made a good addition with the "Jumbotron" for away play off teams. At least you are getting some revenue from the play offs. It does not help the guys who don't make the play offs but at least it's something.

I actually really liked our "A" league, which alot of the teams from here are from. We had been together for a couple years and were really building great rivalries. It's really the mass promotions that are killing the game. Teams that have paid the price for a couple season building their team deserve that pay off season.

The model I would like to see.....

Rather than selling flex and boosting charge a flat monthly fee. Allow players to purchase custom gear for $1 rather than flex.

Everyone gets a new team and can only sign lvl 1 players. No boosting allowed at all. You can never sign a player higher than the highest level on your team in free agency. No relegation/delegation. The league stays together forever.

The only real problem being when someone sells off their team. Not sure what to do about that.

I couldn't agree more on all your points, but two in particular:

3 - I'd love an extra day between games.

5 - Recruiting is a nightmare. I hate it. People want the perfect scenario: 1 year deal, equipment paid for, starting job. It just doesn't work like that. If someone wants their gear then they need to sign with us for at least 2 seasons, preferably 3. We can't afford to dump millions into players and not see any long term benefit.

---

This is the first year I've really been down on GLB. I don't have a solution, I wish I did.

With Vet XP being more like Fame next season, recruiting might become easier...

No more "low" lvl's preferring to sign in a pro league as a 3rd stringer rather then start in A just so they can have the false pride of being in the Pro's.

And no more high level stat padders in semi gutted BBB leagues, so the AAA - P leagues can get their hands on the rare lvl 40+ FA's for once.

A couple of comments on the comments:

1. We had a great AA league as well. A lot of the rivals we played very tight games with have gone up, some have gone down. We just never had that one killer season.

2. I think an extra day between games would make a lot of sense. It would help keep me enthused a lot longer.

3. I do see a time down the road when I could get burned out on this game if things don't change. I never thought I would say that a few months back.

I agree with the recruiting thing. We spent the entire off-season looking for a DE, had a guy lined up who then signed on with the Hurricane Warriors as an ego boost where he barely plays and isn't really contributing.

We had to trade for my own DE who is only L32 now and playing about 10 levels above himself.

We're basically in that horrible stage where we're above the level where the stat-padders want to dominate, and below the level where anybody sees you as successful.

Every day I bounce back and forth from retiring half my guys, to organizing them all to get on one team.
