Not had much time, but thought I'd slap a quick write up together before the real football games begin

Hope it's still a good read

EDIT: Obviously week 9

Lion:

Beltway Bandits at Sun City Undertakers
Both teams are long since eliminated from the play-off race, and this match wont have any repercussions for the rest of the league.
BB favorites

Ivory Coast Diamond Hunters at Katanga Diamonds
2 teams who have both had a rough start to their AAA existence, and who are both sitting right outside the top-8. The looser will have more than a tough time getting in to the top half this year, while the winner can keep the hopes alive.
No favorite

Ethiopian Starvin' Marvins at Seychelles Island Sea WolvesGAME OF THE WEEK
Huge game here, between the #1 and #3. Seychelles have beaten all the other top-6 teams already, and a win here could very well be the last piece in the puzzle for them taking the #1 seed. Hard to see who is gonna beat them if Ethiopia can't pull it off today. Ethiopia really needs this win to be certain not to fall behind the rest of the leading pack, and with one of the toughest schedules left, a loss here could send them down quite a few positions in the table. Seychelles, as mentioned, need the win to solidify their #1 position, and a win here will pretty much lock them in.
Seychelles favorites

Sahara ShadowChasers at South African Bulls
HULK BLAZING LIKES BULL!

Fort Wayne Generals at Mozambique Starvin Marvins
The Generals have shown good play so far this season, and are currently 5-3 in #7 spot. They will have to find that extra gear to beat MSM tho, as the Marvins have rolled along according to plan so far, bar the close loss to Seychelles. FW could find themselves outside of the top-8 if they loose this one, so it is indeed an important game. It also is for MSM, who want to capitalize on some of the other top teams playing each other.
MSM favorites

Cape Verde Headhunters at Tijuana Thundercats
Tijuana isnt really a cup cake team, as their squad is actually quite decent. They dont seem to have any real tactics tho, and shouldn't pose much of a threat for CVH. CVH are still battling to get in to the top half and stay there, and a win today is needed if that is gonna happen.
CVH Big favorites

Jupiter Snipers at Zimbabwe Beavers
BEAVERS!

Elephant:

Cairo Cannibals at Boston Dogs
The Dogs have put down most of the pups in their team and recruited some senior K-9's in an attempt to be competitive in this league. The effect didnt show last week tho, as they suffered yet another big defeat. Cairo are on a 3 game win streak, and have beat 3 very very tough teams by a combined 7 pts. Looks like a somewhat easier task today, unless the Dogs can show some of the play the came in to the league barking about.
Cairo Big favorites

Mogadishu Malice at River Styx Jinx
The Malice are surprisingly sitting in 11th spot with a 4-4 record, and get a much needed bye week here against a weak Jinx team. Everything is super close in Elephant tho, and they are in no way out of the race for top spots, albeit it will be an uphill battle for top-4.
Malice gets an easy win

Tunis Asps at Kilimanjaro Sno-Caps
Tunis was sitting strong n the #1 spot, but then lost 2 games in a row, and need to start winning again, as not to loose the head start they built up completely. The Sno-Caps surprisingly beat the Drifters last week, but have been a bot too inconsistent so far. Will be interesting to see if they can keep it up, and if they can this should be a blast of a game.
No favorite

Richmond Raiders at Gambia Diamond CuttersBIG GAME
Richmond are currently leading the 6 team strong 5-3 group, and will go past the Cutters and into the top-4. They have overcome a tough start and have won 4 in a row, so things are looking up for the Raiders. The Cutters got back on track last week with a win, and seem to have shaken off the 2 consecutive losses. With a very tough remaining schedule, they cant afford to loose this one if they want to keep thei high seed.
Richmond slight favorites

African Arms Dealers at Real Men of Genius
AAD have fought their way back from a negative record, and are now 4-4 after the 1st half of the season. RMoG had a very convincing win against conference leaders the Saints last week, and are looking stronger than ever. They are part of the 5-3 group, and will take a big jump up with a win.
RMoG favorites

San Dimas Saints at High Plains DriftersGAME OF THE WEEK
Super game here, altho both squads suffered unexpected losses last week. Both teams need this win to keep their distance to the big group of pursuers, and it should be an intense game where turn overs and penalty's could decide who takes home the victory.
San Dimas slight favorites

Mozambique Thundercats at Kinshasa Rumblers
Lolgame

Kibwezi Choppaholix at Casablanca SultansBIG GAME
2 very ambitious teams here, and both have already fallen too far behind the top for their own liking. Both teams desperatly needs the win to get fully back in the fight for top-4, and to claim an important tie breaker against what is sure to be a close competitor all the way.

Thanks for the write up. TBH, ESM has me worried most because I haven't got to scout them like any of the other top teams. I still want a win and to avenge the loss to them last year.

Love it. Good luck ESM. No offense Sea Wolves but they've gotta do something.

I hope not... jeez. I just want to see someone play you tough so I might have a clue. LOL.

Oh well, nice try ESM.

Jesus, Seychelles pretty much has it made the rest of the season.

I don't want to take the Beavers or Katanga lightly, especially since we lost to Zimbabwe last season.

Oops

The Elephant conference is one of the deepest conferences I have seen in GLB, I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the top 11 teams beat any of the others in a given week (and as this game shows even the 12-14th teams). Its a shame that only 8 can make the playoffs.

It's also a shame that we virtually ran the ball out ourselves for some reason, rather than kicking a Field Goal to win the game.
