Soooo, there was a couple things that I found interesting last week. I knew the Mounties were good, but they tossed the Demons around like rag dolls. That was quite impressive in my book, and the Coyotes usurped (I love that word) the Peace!! Damn, that's two in a row for the rather brash Peace.
South Manitoba Shady Devils vs. Doom Mountain Demons
Unfortunately this game doesn't carry the weight that it has in previous matchups, but that doesn't make it any less important in my eyes. If there was one team that I would peg the rival tag on, this would be it. We played twice last season, and we came away with a split series. I know that these guys will be pulling out all the stops this week to get a little pay back for the trophy that we have sitting on our mantle right now. The Demons have been plugging away this year, and with a 5-2 record, I think anyone here would be silly to take them for granted based on the fact that they are a promoted team. The Devils on the other hand are sporting a sub .500 record at 3-4, and scratching and clawing for every crumb they can get. Unfortunately I'd give the Demons the edge in this one, but as they say, you don't really want to corner an aggressive animal!!
Moose Factory Mounties vs. Ontario Coyotes
Jerk Trail...what can you say about this guy, except he has found no worthy challengers this season. This HB is an absolute beast, and every team that lines up across from him has only one goal in mind. Stop the run! Having said this, no one has had ANY success doing so. Ontario went 39/47 last week passing and posted a whopping 693 yards through the air against the suddenly exposed Toronto Peace. I have to say that this game completely caught me off guard, and now the Coyotes can figure that no one will be looking past them when they match up. However, this game the Trail master must be licking his chops because of the Coyotes middle of the pack rush D. I expect that this could be ugly.
Vancouver Jaguars vs. Alberta Gangsters
6-1 meets 0-7. I wonder how this game might go?....
Victoria Secret vs. Queensland Exiles

Calgary Jaguars vs. Niagra Falls Barrel Riders
Against my better judgement, I'm going to say I expect this to be a pretty good game. Calgary is 4-3, and up against a 2-5 Niagra team, but for some reason I just feel that this game could be an entertaining one. Niagra is a top 5 passing team, and the Jaguars are in that same category running the ball. However, Calgary's defense is the better on by a bit here. In all likelihood, the Jags should win by about 14, but I think that this could be a real close one, and their is a possibility that the Barrel Riders get off the schnide!!
Great Bear Lake Shamans vs. Toronto Peace
I don't think there is really that big of a difference between the 2-5 teams, and the 5-2 teams in this conference. I think that just about any of these teams could beat the others at almost anytime. That isn't to say that the 5-2's aren't good. They are, and they are where they at because they deserve it, I'm only commenting on the depth of this conference. Anyhow, the Shamans are one of the 2-5 teams, and while I like them and their future outlook, I don't think that they will be able to stop a Peace machine that most likely has war on the mind. Toronto wins 45-14.
Heartbreak Ridge Recons vs. Quebec Eh's
Quebec will run rampant in this one. A really big score, to a really little one!!
Kodiak Bears vs. Prince Edward Island Royalty
GAME OF THE WEEK
The 5-2 Royalty will get an opportunity to knock off one of the elite teams this week. However, you can wager that Kodiak isn't about to grab their ankles for just anyone! The Bear's only loss this season came at the hands of the Peace, and the Royalty have dropped games to Doom Mountain, and the impregnable fortress that is Moose Factory. I think the determining factor this week will be defense though, and Kodiak has the number one D, so I'll take them to win by 10-17.
