A quick review of the top teams, underachievers, and over rated looking towards the playoffs.
1. BBE- The biggest chunk of their schedule is behind them, and barring a 1 game breakdown like last season, will be undefeated and the #1 seed going into the playoffs. Not much else to say here.
2. Cairo Mummy Warriors- This new arrival was definitely over-looked going into season 7. A solid team, the Warriors have their toughest opponents behind them, and only face a tough Toro's team to take the #2 seed in the playoffs. Could they make the jump to the Pros after 1 season in AAA?
3. Gunston Drunks- Their only losses are to the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the conferance. Pretty impressive, but these guys play so loose, they are at risk to lose a close game they will need later in the season. Their playoff destiny rides on the last 2 games of the season against the Toro's and Algeria.
4. Monterey Magic- Sitting 3-3 after possibly the toughest first half schedule in the conference actually looks good for the Magic. Running the table the rest of the way should put them in a great position for a playof home game, but their game against the Texans will pave their path to the postseason. A 45-44 win over the Texans in season 6 ensures a great game for season 7.
5. Toro's Texans- Probably the most under rated team in the conference, this team is happy to sit back and just play. They will be right there with the Magic for the 4th seed in the playoffs, but have a brutal last 4 games, and probably the toughest of all the conference. They could sneak into the 3rd spot with a 2-2 record in their last 4.
6. Khodumodumo's Revenge- Another great addition to Africa AAA. Their next 4 games are against BBE, Gunston, Tripoli, and Cairo. And that's after a crushing loss to the Magic. These next few games will tell us what they're really made of.
7. Tripoli Leathernecks- Once a powerful conference representative, this team seems to be losing ground. They should be able to make the playoffs again, but have taken a step down from season 6. Their only losses last season were to BBE and the mighty Congo and UN (now in Africa Pro).Time to suck it up and run balls to the wall the rest of the way.
8. Algeria Tigers- The Tigers should get back to the playoffs this season. They have a key game against the Magic in the second half of the season, but should be able to slide in. Look out for that game against the Toro's. We could be looking at an upset.
Season 7 playoff spots as I see them.
