Another week is upon us, and many interesting match ups once again. While patterns are starting to become evident, nothing has been decided yet,and a more exciting season is hard to recall.
Hope you enjoy the preview, will try and get the week 6 rankings together before the games tomorrow.
Lion:
Cape Verde Headhunters at Seychelles Island Sea Wolves
Seychelees have beaten 4 of the other current top teams already, and at this point it is hard to see who should beat them and prevent them taking the #1 seed. With a bag full of tie breakers already, they are on track to a great season. Cape Verde gave their old AA#1 rivals from Katanga a good beating last week, and are sitting at a 3-3 record atm along with Fort Wayne and the Beavers. CVH are big underdogs, but a win for them would be huge, and they will fight tooth and nail to get it.
Sea Wolves Big favorites
Ethiopian Starvin' Marvins at Zimbabwe BeaversGAME OF THE WEEK
Ethiopia are currently in #3 spot, and are part of the group of 5-1 teams chasing Seychelles. Haven't had the toughest schedule so far, and the fans are eager to see their team perform against a high caliber opponent. The Beavers are 3-3 in #7 spot, and need this win to get back into the fight for top-4 spots. They have had a tough schedule so far, but have shown good play, and we should be in gor a good game here.
Marvins slight favorites
Mozambique Starvin Marvins at Gabon Forest Dragons
Both these teams are 5-2, and a win here will be a valuable one. Gabon have had the perhaps easiest schedule of any Lion team, and are now in for a tougher stretch of the schedule. With only close wins against teams blown out by other of the top teams, Gabon will be very interesting to follow as they take on top half opponents. They have a solid team, but will have to step it up some if not to be run over my MSM. MSM are on the predicted track, with the loss to Seychelles as the only bump in the road so far. They can't afford to loose if they wanna keep up with the rest of the pack, and especially against a close competitor like Gabon
Marvins Big favorites
Sahara ShadowChasers at Tijuana Thundercats
The ShadowChasers need a win to not fall farther behind the top-5 teams, and luckily for them they face an opponent softer than cotton candy. One of the best teams in the league, they won't have a problem dispersing of Tijuana before the important game against Gabon next week.
SSC takes a big win
Fort Wayne Generals at South African Bulls
Chivas' bull fetish becomes blatantly obvious, as he chases the opponents mascot down with a wild look in his eyes. FW also wins the game
FW by 200+
Ivory Coast Diamond Hunters at Jupiter Snipers
Diamond Hunters had a tough loss to Fort Wayne last week, but get the best chance at regaining morale here, as Jupiter awaits them this game.
255+
Beltway Bandits at Katanga Diamonds
Katanga have had a rough welcome to 3x A, and have lost 5 of their first 6 games. Play-offs are already hanging in a thread, and a win here is an absolute must. Luckily, BB couldn't beat a cap 13 team as they are playing atm, and it should be a big win for Katanga.
Big win for the Diamonds
Elephant:
Tunis Asps at High Plains DriftersGAME OF THE WEEK
Tunis have yet to loose a game this season, and are tied for #1 with San Dimas currently. Their performances against other top teams have put them up as the #1 favorite for Elephant this year, and if they can defeat the Drifters also, they will further solidify this position. High Plains are right behind them tho, sitting in #4 with a 5-1 record. Only loss so far came against the Diamond Cutters in an embarrassing game for the Drifters, who got beat big. They have dusted off their shoulders tho, and have won 2 games straight since. They look to be one of the teams best able to challenge the Asps atm, and this game will be followed intensely by their conference rivals.
Asps slight favorites
San Dimas Saints at Kinshasa Rumblers
San Dimas gets a free pass to 7-0, as the silly Rumblers once again decides to run circles around themselves instead of playing ball.
Easy win for the Saints
African Arms Dealers at Gambia Diamond Cutters
AAD won a close game against the Jinx last week, but are in for a much tougher game here, as they travel to Gambia to play the Cutters. With only 2 wins so far, AAD really needs this win, but Gambia are big favorites, as they have shown great strength all season, despite last weeks beating by San Dimas. If AAD can find the weak spots in Gambia's chains, this could be a good game. If not, it could be a slaughter.
Gambia Big favorites
Richmond Raiders at Casablanca Sultans
Richmond are currently tied for the 8th and final play-off spot alongside RMoG, Cairo and Mogadishu. That 3 this strong teams are all 3-3 show the strength of Elephant this year, and every game is almost a must win at this stage. The Sultans are right above them in the table with a 4-2 record, and can't afford to loose more ground to the top-4 teams. 2 strong teams, both with a lot to win and a lot to loose. Morale and focus will be the key in this one.
No favorite
Kibwezi Choppaholix at Cairo Cannibals
Kibwezi have come down to earth some after 2 straight losses have ruined their perfect season start. Another loss today would send them far down the table, and morale could start becoming an issue, so a win here is as important as ever. Cairo have been a bit up and down so far, but look to have found their form. Last week saw a hard fought win over Mogadishu, and things are looking good and solid now that the new players are finding their places on the team. As Jack E gets more familiar with his offense, Cairo will continue to become more dangerous.
No favorite
Kilimanjaro Sno-Caps at Real Men of Genius
RMoG have not have the expected season so far, and are currently sitting in the #11 spot. Everyone knows the high ambitions of this team, and a loss here would not suit the fans at all. A win could take them past Kilimanjaro, and as far up as #7, while a loss would mean falling behind the top half teams. Kilimanjaro have shown good play, but have yet to defeat another high ranked team, and it will be interesting to see what they can do against an RMoG team that, while they might be struggling a bit, are a very tough team to play. Should be a good game, and a very important one for both participants.
No favorite
Mogadishu Malice at Boston Dogs
Mogadishu suffered a tough loss at the hands of Cairo last week, and are now 3-3 in #8 position. Not exactly the start this strong team had expected. They need a win against the Dogs to not loose more ground, and will hope to take advantage of teams above them playing each other at the same time. The Dogs had a tough reality check after the first 6 rounds, and are currently 2-4 in 13th position. Play-offs already look to be an uphill battle, but a win here would go a long way in getting back into the fight.
Malice Big favorites
Mozambique Thundercats at River Styx Jinx
Looks like the Jinx will finally get the first win of the season. It's nothing more than cosmetic tho, as the play-off race are already over for River Styx this year.
Styx takes the win
