Zeta Power Rankings
1. (1) Amsterdam Pirates (119-0 Win vs. Trondheim Berserkir)
4-0 (1-0 vs. Top 5 teams in Zeta)
The score of this game pretty much sums it up. They pushed the Berserkir for a total of negative 22 yards in this one. Nearly 400 yards on the ground as they were letting everyone on the team have a turn at touching the ball in one-way or another. 4 more easy wins for the Pirates before they play a team that they will actually have to game plan and/or scout for. This week will be another one sided affair.
Next game vs. #11 Artic Demon Santas
2. (2) West Yorkshire Bandits (99-7 Win vs. Wolverhampton Wolverines)
4-0 (1-0 vs. Top 5)
70 passing attempts were not enough for the Wolverines to keep this one close. The Bandits did just about whatever they wanted and both QB’s were equally as impressive as they each tossed 3 TD’s and Adrien Lompre even ran one in. The DB’s had plenty of opportunities to play the pass and CB Lenny Bruce took full advantage by knocking down 7 passes by himself as the team knocked down 19 in total. This week is a good warm up for the Bandits as they prepare to play 4 playoff teams in the next 5 weeks. Maybe 5-5 if the Snaps are as good as they have been playing lately. My guess is that we find out this week that the Snaps are not ready for the big dogs of the league.
Next game vs. #8 Aalborg Snaps
3. (3) Stafford Spartans (99-7 Win vs. PaPa Dong’s Dragon Farm)
4-0 (0-0 vs. Top 5)
The Spartans are yet to find a good game since coming to the league and this week is not going to be any different. The Spartans have done whatever they want to every team they have played and are eagerly awaiting the Bandits but have to play one more cupcake before they get their shot. Back to back games with point totals in the 90’s, will this week be the same? NO, they will put up 120 against the asleep at the wheel Cavs.
Next game vs. #16 Kickback Cavaliers
4. (5) Ireland Drunken Irish (44-13 Win vs. Glasgow Cats)
2-2 (0-1 vs. Top 5)
The Drunken Irish are back in the 4 spot after a win against the Cats. I will say the move is more about the Bears back-to-back ugly wins against bad teams then the Irish really dominating anyone. A 31-point win is good but if the Irish want to be in title contention they have to beat up on some of the weaker teams. The Irish’s defense was a big letdown against the Cats as they allowed 351 yards to the 13th ranked team in our conference. They have a game this week against the Hounds that they will need to prepare for, as they need both redemption and if you aren’t careful the Hounds can sneak up and bite you. RB Smashface Webster will have to be on his game and the defense with LB mama said knock you out will have to step up their play if they want to continue to move up the rankings.
Next game vs. #7 Copenhagen Hounds
5. (4) Chicagoo Bears (27-7 Win vs. Arlington Sandlot)
4-0 (0-0 vs. Top 5)
Another win but another win (2) that was less then impressive. Being 4-0 is good but not looking impressive in these wins has to cause concern for the Chicagoo Bears. The Sandlot team is not the worst team out there but winning by 20 isn’t enough. The Bears were very balanced on offense and about 200 yards passing and another 200 on the ground. They allowed almost 200 yards and caused no turnovers and no pressure on the QB at all. 2 more easy wins coming up for the Bears (Dongs and Cavs) but then they get their first real test in the Bandits and a chance to prove that they are better then the recent results or we’ll see that they are more of a fraud then an actual Top 5 Power Team.
Next game vs. #14 Papa Dong’s Dragon Farm
6. (6) EuroTrash Talkers (87-14 Win vs. Artic Demon Santas)
3-1 (0-0 vs. Top 5)
Most of the early season has been a breeze for the Talkers. This last game was no exception as they topped 800 yards on offense. Giving up 200 yards through the air is more than owner BADAS$ would like but when the team throws it almost 50 times they’re bound to catch a few of them. They have what looks like to be 3 more easy wins before playing the Bandits at home on the 16th. This is a game the EuroTrash squad is hoping will put them on the map and strike some fear in the top dogs of the league.
Next game vs. #9 Arlington Sandlot
7. (7) Copenhagen Hounds (69-0 Win vs. Washington Warriors)
3-1 (0-1 vs. Top 5)
A great performance by the Hounds has to have owner lee hall a little happier about the play of his team this season. A 69-point shutout win always feels good and couldn’t come at a better time as they prepare for the Drunken Irish later tonight. Their D played great sacking the Warriors 4 times and getting a nice INT as well. They topped 500 yards of offense and RB HereComes DaBus ran for 188 while RB Seth Stone punched it in the end zone 4 times. The Hounds played great but I don’t see it working out well against the Drunken Irish tonight at all. The Hounds will need to be perfect to have a shot in this one and I think the Irish are ready to put up a nice win against a good team to help their resume.
Next game vs. #4 Ireland Drunken Irish
8. (8) Aalborg Snaps (62-0 Win vs. Kickback Cavaliers)
3-1 (0-0 vs. Top 5)
The Snaps continue to impress as they post a nice shutout and 62-point victory. They played a poor team but they did what was expected in the game of a good team. If the play continues they will begin to climb the Power Rankings and tonight’s game would go a long way to putting them into the playoff mix as a real contender. They topped 600 yards against the Cavs with almost 500 on the ground and only allowing 100 yards to the Kickback bunch. My guess is that the Bandits will win the game going away if they can stop the Snaps running game. I think the Snaps will need to be a bit more balanced and if they can do that they may put up a good fight against the #2 team in the conference.
Next game vs. #2 West Yorkshire Bandits
9. (11) Arlington Sandlot (7-27 Loss vs. Chicagoo Bears)
0-4 (0-2 vs. Top 5)
Another loss by the Sandlot but they have still climbed up 2 spots as they played a Top 5 team (Bears) fairly close. In fact the Sandlot went into halftime with a 7-3 lead only to see that in the first 10 seconds of the 3rd quarter as they gave up a 58-yard TD run. The Bears also got a late TD with 17 seconds to go or the game would have been a less than 2 scores loss to a Top 5 team. If the Sandlot could have mustered anything on offense they could have pulled this game out. They continue a rough schedule tonight against the EuroTrash Talkers and then the Amsterdam Pirates. If they use the info from this last game perhaps they can stay in the next two but both games are looking pretty lopsided.
Next game vs. #6 EuroTrash Talkers
10. (9) Wolverhampton Wolverines (7-99 Loss vs. West Yorkshire Bandits)
2-2 (0-1 vs. Top 5)
No surprise in this game as they got smashed by the #2 ranked team in our conference. 200 yards of offense but only 3 on the ground is just not a good performance and won’t work against quality teams like the Bandits. They play the Cats tonight and will need to beat the lesser teams if they want to back their way into the 8th playoff spot. I see this being a good game and am calling for the upset win by the Cats. Let’s see if the Wolverines bring a better effort on offense tonight as they play a very beatable team.
Next game vs. #12 Glasgow Cats
11. (10) Artic Demon Santas (14-87 Loss vs. EuroTrash Talkers)
1-3 (0-1 vs. Top 5)
Another poor performance and rough result for the Santas. They don’t get any time off as they go against the top team in the conference in the Amsterdam Pirates. They were absolutely crushed on the ground in their last game (-68 yards) and were also sacked 10 times. This is probably going to be the same tonight against a very tough team. After starting off the season with a 71-0 win they have only managed 17 total points in their last 3 games. Nobody has had a tougher beginning to the season then the Santas so perhaps they can go on a roll vs. the weaker teams and even grab the #8 playoff spot that looks to be up for grabs. Tonight will not be the start of that however.
Next game vs. #1 Amsterdam Pirates
12. (13) Glasgow Cats (13-44 Loss vs. Ireland Drunken Irish)
0-4 (0-2 vs. Top 5)
Another bottom team that moved up a spot despite a loss, as they were able to keep it interesting for most of the game. Losing by 31 isn’t great but again a team that hung in there in the first half and then forgot to play the second half. They were able to put up a very nice 350 yards of offense and only allow 447 to a Top 5 team. By the numbers the game should have actually been closer but they just weren’t able to capitalize which good teams just have to do. They are playing one of the lower tier teams tonight in what should be a competitive game. I think the Cats will pull it off if they put up a fight like they did against the Drunks.
Next game vs. #10 Wolverhampton Wolverines
13. (12) Washington Warriors (0-69 Loss vs. Copenhagen Hounds)
0-4 (0-1 vs. Top 5)
94 yards of offense and zero points says it all in this one. Running with 3 QB’s all of which were unsuccessful in this game and all season is not helping the Warriors out one bit. The Berserkir are not good and the Warriors could beat them but that could be the ugliest game to watch all night.
Next game vs. #15 Trondheim Berserkir
14. (14) PaPa Dong’s Dragon Farm (7-99 Loss vs. Stafford Spartans)
0-4 (0-1 vs. Top 5)
Great game today by the Dongs. A truly great performance worthy of a long post. They were really in this game up until the time the Spartans got off the bus then it was all over. Another ass kicking coming tonight vs. the Bears. Another mouthy comment coming soon from one of the 15 Dongs GM’s.
Next game vs. #5 Chicagoo Bears
15. (15) Trondheim Berserkir (0-119 Loss vs. Amsterdam Pirates)
0-4 (0-2 vs. Top 5)
How do you back up a 114-point loss? Easy, with a 119 point loss. Good news though, you get to play the Warriors tonight.
Next game vs. #13 Washington Warriors
16. (16) Kickback Cavaliers (0-62 Loss vs. Aalborg Snaps)
0-3 (0-1 vs. Top 5)
7 total points scored on the season is harder than it sounds. This team has managed to go game to game and not even get a lucky point here or there. Teams are taking side bets at the moment as to who/if any of the next 4 opponents will give up 1 point to the Cavs as they march towards 0-16.
Next game vs. #3 Stafford Spartans
