Another week down, and this league is shaping up to be one of the haves and the have nots. In most leagues it seems to usually go the other way, where the vast majority fill in the middle with two teams who are vastly superior, and two who are generally in the tank. I don't know, maybe I'm off on this a bit though. Anyhow, here are your weekly predictions.
Cancun Sharks vs. Buffalo Buffalo's
This really isn't a fair matchup as Buffalo sports a team that's average level is probably about 13, and Cancun is probably close to 22. Beyond that the Sharks have the number 2 passing attack and the number 1 rushing attack. If you can't smell what the Rock is cooking here, you must have absolutely no sense of smell! Sharks by a landslide.
Gaul Visigoths vs. Paris Vikings
Gaul is out of their league again this week as they face off against the Paris Vikings. HB Jonnie Rocket and QB Rick Nelly are poised to post some big numbers this week as the Vikings keep chugging along.
Lubeck Cougars vs. Koln Prowlers
At the top, when I said there were no middle of the road teams, well Koln here is one of the exceptions to the rule. This is by no means a slam to them either. They are a well built team that plays a strong defensive game, the just happen to be a few levels behind some of the "premiere" teams. Lubeck, on the other hand is one of the premiere teams, and will be until we get to the part of the schedule where some of those teams start squaring off. The Cougars offense is led by standout HB Mohamad alfacki, who has already tallied 862 yards on only 75 rushes this season. Add to the fact that he's crossed the goalline 18 times, I think it's safe to say he may be garnering some MVP consideration already in this young season. When it's all said and done, I expect the Prowlers to go down fighting, but I do expect them to go down.
Paris Superbes vs. South Yorkshire Scorpions
There is a "slight" possibility that I may be just a "little" biased here. Maybe. This is another match up that pits the Pats vs. the Giants! Shit, the Giants won that one! Oh well, I'll take the Scorps to rock them like a hurricane here.
Ukraine Valkyries vs. Montana Wolverines
Looking at these two teams, you would think they live worlds apart, but the curious thing is that the Wolverines starting lineup is right on with Ukraines. I'm not certain if their record is indicative of bad builds, or faulty gameplanning, but there certainly is something wrong going on here. Ukraine, on the other hand, has what appears to be a very solid foundation that is built upon superior builds and excellent coaching. In a level 18 RB, Corvin Janazic, they have a back who has already amassed 627 yards rushing and 14 total TDs. Their QB, Dante "the Man" Marino, has also been phenomenal airing out 743 yards with 5 TD's and 0 INT's. I think it is fairly obvious who I'm taking in this one. Valkyries win big.
Henry Patriots vs. Shadow Rattlers
This actually a very intriguing match up this week. The Patriots are 1-3, but have had a difficult schedule to this point, and the Rattlers are 2-2, but have had a little bit easier schedule. Both teams feature top notch passing attacks, and surprisingly effective defenses, so we are poised for a what could be a very good matchup. I will take the Patriots here, but it honestly could go either way, and I expect the the winner comes away by a TD or less.
London Apes vs. Copenhagen Vikings
The 3-1 Apes face off against the 1-3 Vikings this week. The Apes are fielding one of the better teams here in Alpha this season, and while I expect that the Vikings are considerably better then their record indicates, I don't see them hanging in there this week with London. Apes win 36-12.
Gothenberg Geats vs. Dinwiddie Dustdevils
GAME OF THE WEEK
The Geats are 2-2, while the Dustdevils are only 1-3, but I see a matchup that looks to be as good as it gets this week. Both teams are a little below the curve on talent level wise, but they both seem to be fielding well "built" players. To this point, Dinwiddie has had a bit of a tougher schedule, and I think that reflects in their record. The have both played Buffalo though, and Dinwiddie did seem to have a little more success, although both teams whipped 'em pretty good. Neither team is particularily strong passing the ball, but both do excel in the rushing department. Having to pick a winner here is difficult, as it could go either way, but for the sake of argument, I'll pick Dinwiddie to win a close one.
See you next week and good luck to all.
