Damn it, my cat hit the keyboard as I was getting ready to post, and it donkey'd up the thread title, so I'm reposting this so people can find it....lol

Alright, we have some big changes this week. The upset of Ft. Campbell is one, and the addition of a strength of schedule component is another factor that has led to a few changes in the rankings for this week. I actually have the strength of schedule computed based on the number of wins of your total opponents, and I've weighted this one pretty heavily (4.0) in the offense category. As the season goes on, and the teams play most of their division, the wins of their opponents should mostly balance out, and this component in the rankings will be less influential.

But for now, I have have it treated as pretty important, as teams who have played against mostly the weaker teams in the league should be able to put up bigger numbers than teams who have had the bad luck of playing the better teams in the league early on.

Having said all that, here are the StickMan brand Week 6 Power Rankings!

It looks like a lot of work went into this and I have to admit that it takes some balls to move an undefeated team [OC] DOWN in the rankings after a win over a top 10 team [WC] and place TWO [FTC and MN] 5-1 teams ahead of that team. It's either gutsy or showing a minor flaw in your assessment criteria.

We'll see how this all shakes out as the season progresses. Good job so far, though.

No, you moved down because of the Strength of Schedule modifier...

I think the biggest thing about it is that while I list what a team was ranked at last week, the rankings between weeks are not 100% comparable right now, because I'm still adding things (such as the str of sched component that I added between last week and this week) Once I stop futzing with the formula then it will be a legitimate comparison from one week to the next.

So your comment about seeing how this shakes out is entirely accurate.

And I don't think my power rankings are ever going to be 100% accurate, in now way that I've tweaked the weighting or anything do I ever remember seeing Vegas above Ft. Campbell, so upsets will happen to shake things up as well.

Thanks,
StickMan

Thanks. Is there a specific reason that you think your team is better than their ranking? If you have another stat that you think should be included/considered, let me know.

If you just think they play better than their ranking, that's perfectly fine too. I probably think my team is better than their ranking too

I just wondered if the statement came from something specifc that could be used to improve the rankings.

Thanks,
StickMan

What does the "overall" number represent?

Yea but we're 5-1 and behind a team that's 3-3, so you should put the emphasis on "little".

Remember people,

Overall Record is just ONE factor in the rankings formula - and the formula isn't perfect by ANY means.

It's just for fun, so don't look too much into it.
